The Bottom Line Nice photo quality, improved autofocus performance, and a very compact design make the Canon PowerShot S110 a solid option if you're looking for something between a point-and-shoot and an enthusiast compact. But if you can find them cheaper, the S100 or S95 are still good alternatives. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II's combination of looks, speed, flexibility, and photo quality makes it a great choice for enthusiasts who can afford the price tag. While the Canon PowerShot G16 is better than the G15 and remains a nice enthusiast compact, its low-light photo quality disappoints for the money. The Olympus Stylus XZ-2 iHS is an excellent bright lens enthusiast compact. At this point, though, you should skip it at its full $600 price. With a terrific lens and a great full-frame sensor, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 delivers the best photos we've seen from a fixed-lens camera. But that doesn't come cheap.
