Tablet PCs come in two flavors: the pure-slate tablet, which is just a screen and a stylus, and the convertible tablet, which looks like a traditional notebook until you swivel the display 180 degrees and fold it flat over the keyboard. While tablets generally rival ultraportable notebooks in size and weight, a new breed of large-format tablets--weighing 6 pounds or more, with screens up to 14.1 inches--is available for workers who won't roam far from a desk or a conference table. Whichever size and type of tablet you choose, you'll pay more than you would for a standard laptop.
