RS-232
Recommended Standard 232 The longtime standard for asynchronous serial-port transfers, set by the Electronic Industries Alliance. The physical interface contains one wire that is used as the ground wire; the rest are dedicated to detecting carrier signals, managing the timing of data transfer, and sending and receiving data.
