I'm not ashamed to say it...I'd like the choice of paying a small monthly fee to access a wide selection of music, or pay $1 to "own" the song.
I can buy a movie or a TV show to keep forever, but most of the time I just want to watch it. So I "rent" it (through my monthly cable subscription of dozens of channels), with the option of going out and buying an individual movie/show on DVD at a later date.
I think there's a market for both models. In fact, I use both now. Steve can continue to ignore subscription services (just as he's ignored other trends and consumer demands), but it just pushes folks like me into the arms of competitors who provide what I want.
