"Quicken 2006 is incompatible with Vista and users need to upgrade to 2007." How many software vendors will use compatibility issues to trick users into getting upgrades? And how many of these "incompatibilities" originate in the software vendor's advertising and sales department as opposed to being real?

I can upgrade my computers at home for a mere few thousand dollars. Or I can ask myself what I really need it for. The only real issue is that vendors will slowly drop support for older operating systems. Norton's new AV runs on XP but not 2000. I can't think of anything that I use on a day to day basis that won't run on Windows 2000, or anything of any real importance for me that needs XP. If Microsoft wants to make prices ridiculously high for a version of the OS that is not crippled to the point of not being worth the time to bother with it, then I won't be in any hurry to buy it.

the cost of this program is way toooo high..... If programs were priced at a more reasonable rate, there would be a lot less people out there trying to find hacks and cheats to make the program theirs....

I want to open everyone’s eyes to the thought process of my mind & how I operate to see if there is anyone in this world that is real as I feel mostly like I’m the only one as if I am (ONE) & all alone in this world & there is no one else. I can care less if someone gets angry at where I posted this Novell but its something that needs to be heard.
This is about Lying & Stealing & will touch base with Microsoft & every venue you can imagine.
As for Microsoft there are probably certain divisions which need their own income coming into a particular department so yes they do need to make this money to pay these employees but at the same time instead of only letting word of mouth get out & Beta testing the only right thing for them to do is tell the truth about this OS & not say “YOU GOTTA UPGRADE!” with absolutely no back bone for an explanation. If you cant find every angle & or explanation then chances are someone is trying to take something from you because of many reason and one being they’ve invested too much money in this so the truth could kill the business all together.
Why hasn’t best buy or SAMSUNG for that mater not pulled every Blu-Ray from the shelf now that real brains have read that all the processors inside this Blu-Ray player cannot display a 1080P signal due to faulty Processors? Why isn’t everyone informed the truth that the 720P signal being put out by Toshibas HD-DVD is in fact a clearer signal even in all online reviews than the Blu-Ray yet they are sold for more money and I don’t even like TOSHIBA. Why would someone take advantage of real people in a real world who work real hard to make real money to spend on something that DOESN’T REALLY WORK? Did you also know that not the Toshiba but the future HD-DVD players will be capable of producing a 1080P with the newest larger format HD-DVD’s as Blu-Ray has claimed only they can do?
If a Cash Register goes down & you’re the one taking in the money at an Eckerd just for example & the credit card machines are down and power is out but someone has to get something & you know the exact amount that object is worth & the person paying has no clue and you sneak in an extra .25 Cent into your pocket…Is that or is that not considered stealing & also lying to that person because you acted like you didn’t know so your way of getting that money was not legit?
I am 24 years of age & my Parents own a lot of property & a very large body shop including a new/used car lot. They both have tried to encourage me to run the car lot since I was even 18 because of how well I can explain things to people & my gift in this matter but I have constantly refused no matter the $ amount offered because of this…When you literally can’t pray information out of your head because of what you have learned and you have a unique ability to remember every detail even down to every gear ratio you (I) read at 7 years of age about a Dodge Viper & every CC of the engine and exact lateral forces etc. on every car that exists. How can I as Christian person sell cars that I know exactly what they do & what they don’t do without informing the customer? Would it not be mine or anyone else’s duty to tell the truth especially if you do believe in or fear God & the possibility of living your entire life in a lie and all of this money was in a sense stolen by not telling the whole truth? I can’t help but tell people facts and that will immediately head them in the right direction which is normally away from the vehicles that are on any lot period. I can prove so many facts on BMW compared against Ferrari & other Automakers that prove BMW to succeed in almost every area but with the glow & finish of most cars and the smooth talk of a salesman people will never know the facts unless they are told.
This is all said to explain this.
Example #1 PIONEER sells PLASMA televisions & on their web site you are informed that it isn’t true about the burn in on a PLASMA screen & folks at BestBuy and stores of that nature only know what they’ve heard or been taught and sell things like this stating facts that are twisted just enough to where it can be considered true but is a complete lie & is the outcome of taking someone’s money & them not know the truth which could lead to money/marital problems etc. The truth about PIONEER in this case is most people will have their PLASMA for a while before they find out that it does still burn in & the catch to what they were told was this. They say it can’t burn in because once IT DOES BURN IN you can re-flash it to remove the burn which dramatically reduces the quality & the life of the TV. You can’t find Ms Ratings on any PLASMA TV in any store but every LCD will show it’s rating on the price tag with no fear. Yup, NEGATIVE $500.00 will be the real price on release day. We will all get a little cash in our pockets or atleast we should! Come on people be realistic Microsoft should be paying us if we are going to crash our systems and or lose all performance just to support their name. We're just that "SUPPORTERS" and for one terrible OS that I wont begin the "Peeing Contest" with anyone because by the time I get done typing all the facts minus the opinions no one could argue & there is'nt enough space for the facts to land in the box. BIG MISTAKE MICROSOFT
Can't wait to hear about a very angry run in with Microsoft when an entire enterprise converts to Vista that has 1,000 plus PC's & they demand Microsoft come & revert them all back to their old XP PRO OS's. Thats going to be one big money boo boo. Oh well, people with no common sense which is 99.9% of this world just go ahead and do what you want but the fact is it's a mistake especially labling a price tag on something that is nothing short of unstable.

I think Windows Vista is a reasonable price for basics, premium, and business. But, I think the Ulitimate is expensive. They should make it atleast $50 cheaper.

Bare bones PC with dual core street price $300
Graphics card 130
1G memory upgrade $90
Windows Vista top tier, $399

When the software to run the bloody system costs more than the machine you have to sit back and wonder about the economic vaiablity of staying with windows. Desptie the listed glitches, can't load adobe, this didn't work, that didn't work. $400 bucks and I can't live without it.

Are you people paid by Microsoft???

We're not consumers, we're users and cost is always king with consumers. This is just absurd pricing.

Why does Microsoft have to stratify their userbase?

Price Vista in the median of that unjustifiable price-range and just give everyone equal access to every Vista feature in Ultimate, regardless of whether or not every feature will be used.

I have both an XP system and a Mac system and use them both daily. Not to
be an advocate, but really, every complaint I've seen in this thread is
addressed if you have a Mac. For that reason I use the Mac for my day to day
and the XP machine for specific tasks. For the record, my XP system has been
rock-solid in terms of stability, despite what the Mac fanatics like to tell you.
But then, it's never on the web except for the occasional software upgrade.
But the fact that XP is 6 years old (and tacked onto another system that is
even older) really makes it look decrepit next to the Mac OS, which is years
ahead because it is, well, literally years ahead. So I look forward to Vista!
There isn't much I don't like about the Mac OS, but I'm always looking for
something better. I jumped from DOS to Mac in the early days when there
was no contest, then back to Windows when Apple sucked, and now have
both. If I had to give one up currently it would be the Windows machine. But
we'll see what Vista brings.
