Summary: I have been a PC user my whole life. I have always thought about Mac but the new iMac G5 made me switch. I had been thinking about buying one for a while, but with the switch to Intel chips next year I thought I would wait. When I saw the new iMac with Front Row I could not wait anymore. It is very quick with all my favorite programs from the PC, yes all my favorites are available on Mac. It really is very, very quiet. I never noticed how noisy my old HP desktop was until I got the iMac. To all those PC users I hope you give a Mac a try. Once you do, I doubt you will go back.

Summary: I think this is a great blend of power and fun. It has those cool apps like Front Row and Photobooth for the consumer in us, but I also use Final Cut and Photoshop and the speed is absolutely more than adequate. I'm just an amateur at these apps, but the new iMac gets through the rendering very quickly which used to take up most of my time before. I do however wish they made Front Row so that it could record TV, but then I guess ABC would be pissed when people didn't purchase LOST on iTunes. And what's up with the no DVI output? Even my 2 year old Powerbook has it. Not sure why putting the video card in the PCI-X slot is so hyped up, so I'll just assume the graphics are coming out better. They look great, don't get me wrong, but I don't notice any huge difference. Also, this thing is dead silent while it's running. I don't hear the fans or anything.
All in all, a great machine.

Summary: My first mac and I love it. Decided to switch to mac because of all the spyware and viruses for Windows. Haven't had any trouble in that area yet. Its very fast, and can run many applications at once. The other iMac G5 models had problems with noise level, but this one I can't hear over my refriderator. You can get away with the built in speakers but i would definitely recommend gettting a better set. Front Row works very well, as well as the built in iSight. The amount of included software is amazing more than any windows computer I've purchased and unlike windows they all work very well together. The only downside I have found it using a mac is the lack of games but unless you have to play the absolute latest and greatest you can get away with it. All in all its a extremely versatile computer and it won't take up a whole lot of space unlike a powermac or any PC desktop for that matter.

Pros: Screen, Details On Pictures, Fast, Remote Control, Double Layer DVD, Mighty Mouse Standard, Keyboard Extremely Soft, iSight Camera, Thinner Than the Previous Imac G5.
Cons: You Have To Pay Extra If You Want a Dial Up Modem (But Who Uses Dial Up These Days? I Just Think It Is Good To Have As A Back Up)

Summary: Well, I liked this product so much that I decided to share my thoughts. I used to have a Sony Vaio FS-660 Laptop and sold to purchase this computer which I fell in love with at the store. People and friends criticized me, saying that nothing is compatible with Macs and this and that. That is absolutely not true. I have every single program I used on Windows. Microsoft Office (much better than the windows version), MSN Messenger, Windows Media Player (for wmv files), Limewire etc. I am in love with how simple Apple Computers are. You don't need to Uninstall Programs like windows does (and usually messes up your computer even if you do it right) Mac all you do is grab the program, throw it in the trash and that's it, it's gone. I also learned that you don't need to disfragment you hard drive, since apple's system already places everything in the right place. The new Mighty Mouse is awesome, has a Left and Right Button (Works just like windows) and I learned everything about this computer is 3 days.
I had purchased the previous iMac G5 17 In 2.0 GHZ and returned it when I found out that this one was released with all these gadgets and DDR2 memory ram and for less money. I purchased directly from Apple (It took a while to arrive because it came all the way from China and I paid for a 2day Delivery) I purchased an extra 512 MB DDR2 on Ebay for 40 bucks.... I will never go back to a PC again, I am really happy with macs, just a little scared about their 90-Day Over The Phone Support, thats a little scary but whatever... Don't believe what people say about Macs, they are just as compatible as a PC and sometimes their programs do just the same, they just have a different name. I've had no problems with Spywares, No Virus its just awesome. If you want to completely erase your hard drive (whenever you sell your computers or something, you know that on Windows, formatting the Harddrive, does not erase everything, people can still find your important info...Macs erase everything, they put 0's where your infos are, so noone will be able to access it) As you can tell I am extremely excited about this computer, and for the first time, I am not scared of it crashing on me.

Summary: Ive had mine for almost a year now. Great machine. Great for just about everything. I was thinking about getting and intel mac but after reading the problems on macintouch.com and saw the amount of complaints i had a change of mind for sure. Instead i got a black macbook. In a way i got to see what would have been the difference anyway for the real time test you know basic stuff you do on a mac so im happy i kept my imac. If asked do i have any regrets on not waiting for the new intel imacs id have to say no i dont. If you see this model in a store and are thinking about it go for it you wont have any regrets. If you need windows then get a new one. Other then that i dont have to explain specs as any body out there can find out what they are for themselves.

Summary: It's simply the best computer i've ever had. i've always used windows based pc's until about six month ago when i finally had enough of crashes and viruses and decided to try something different. well i'm happy to say that different paid off, i was amazed at how easy it is to learn to use mac osx. i can't speak for intel mac but if you're tired of the hassle of windows pc's, try out a power pc mac, it hasn't failed me yet.

Summary: I made the switch.
I used windows, and didn't like it, I just used it because I thought i didn't like mac.
The reason I swiched was b/c Windows kept crashing, and I had to keep reinstalling. This is bad if you are a serious amatuer photographer and do an online school.
You have to try OS 10.4 before you judge Apple.
I LOVE IT.

Summary: I am graphic designer and have used Macs at work, and this is the latest iMac they have purchased for me to use at the office. I have had the original CRT iMac, and then the swivel arm LCD iMac that followed. The current G5 iMac is the best of the bunch. The widescreen LCD is sharp and bright, and affords a large viewing area. It is quiet and fast, however Apple is a bit skimpy with the standard RAM, 512mb is the absolute least you should have in this machine. Thankfully, adding additional ram is simple.
MAC OS X 10.4 Tiger is an awesome operating system; everything looks great, and runs smoothly. No crashes, no viruses, and no worries that something you've been working on for the last 2 hours will be lost if you forget to save. Almost all of the necessary programs are available for MAC as well; Microsoft Office, most Adobe products, and quicken. Also, the iLife suite of software than came with system is great.
My only caveats are with front row and the wireless keyboard and mouse. Front Row is sometimes slow to operate and frequently loses connection with the Movie Trailer server, and the apple wireless keyboard and mouse I have with my iMac sometimes loose their connection, and the mouse is still only one button, while Apple's Mighty Mouse is a four button.
Overall, I love the Macintosh operating system, and the iMac G5. After using them at work for so many years and loving them, I finally replaced my home computer, a DELL with an Apple PowerMac G5.
Updated
Recently a friend of mine said he had the ability to try a prototype Mac with the new Intel chips. He said the chip was a dual core 4.0 Ghz in a PowerMac. He felt that the system performance seemed no faster that the current G5 PowerPC chip. One more reason not to wait for Intel.
