Intro:
This configuration of the HP 530 is a 6-pound, general-purpose notebook computer.Compared to other mainstream notebooks on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $575.Has Wi-Fi (wireless connectivity) built-in.
Noteworthy Features:
Comes with Microsoft Windows Vista business and Microsoft Windows Vista OS, which is somewhat more favorable than some similarly priced notebooks.By way of comparison, the average cost of a product with a comparable set of OS is $1,390.
Weaker Features:
The HP 530 comes with basic word processing software -- serious business or academic document authors may want to upgrade to a full-fledged office suite.Shared video memory has an adverse effect on system performance which may be okay for users with more modest graphics needs.Users with more demanding needs should look to a graphics solution that brings its own muscle.
Suitability:
A consumer level notebook, suited for general mobile computing.Preserve embarassing home movie memories for future generations by saving them onto DVD with this laptop's DVD burner. If you have a wireless network at home, wirelessly browse the Web from any room in your house with this Wi-Fi enabled laptop.
Value:
In view of its very inexpensive price, this notebook has great features for the money.Generally, it should be considered by serious bargain hunters.
Suggestions:
(1) Given this device's Wi-Fi capability, you may want to get a wireless access point for your home, so that you can browse the Internet more conveniently from any room.(2) For help in deciding if this is the right notebook for you, see CNET's buying guide for notebooks.
7 out of 10 - Very good Lightweight (for it's screensize) laptop primarily for business use

I'm a Mac user who recently got laid off from one job and then hired for another job that required a PC laptop for daily business use, so I reluctantly went shopping for a bare bones business PC. WOW! I had no idea what kind of power, speed and flexability was available for $700.00 these days! Super intuative software and ease of use. Vista is a lot better than it has been depicted to be through the press and my fellow Mac users. I find this HP to be built as well as any computer I've owned and they (HP) paid a lot more attention to detail than I paid for this PC!

I got this laptop cause my old one died and this was about the same price. The transfer wizard is a breeze to use, as is all of the other wizards. Vista is almost idiot proof, but if you are a pro at XP you are going to have a little trouble getting used to the layout inside Vista. The battery seems to last forever, I can get 2 and a half to three movies before it dies. The screen is nice and clear, but the graphics card can't quite handle some of the newer high end games on the market. If you want a laptop to browse the net, do work and take on trips this one will work nicely for you.
