Summary: The L7580 is all a small business needs that has anywhere from 1-15 employees. The L7580 is PERFECT for the small or home based office. I paid $235.00 with a small coupon from Staples. Why pay $380.00 for the L7680, the only difference between the L7580 & L7680, is the 7680 prints legal size, double sided, and has a color LCD screen. The extra $150 wasnt worth the color screen. And it looks like the double sided printing is an additioal piece that I could buy extra if I ever needed it and when it gets cheaper.
I currently have the Canon Laser MF570 All In One at the office, and I can honestly say that this inkjet prints just as fast and with better quality.
All Around, for the money, the L7580 is the value of the Office Jet Pro Series and well worth it compared to the other frills from the upgraded versions. The only reason I didnt give it a 10, is no USB included and it doesnt have Wi-Fi printing. The 2nd upgrade, L7780, does have Wi-Fi for $250 more...no thanks.
As of 04/27, most stores were selling for $269.99.

Summary: I purchased this unit after seeing that it got one of the best reviews of all All-in-one printers on CNET. I must say that out of all devices I have purchased from recommendations, THIS unit is NOT the one you want! I first thought that I would listen to CNET's reviewers 8.2 rating rather than pay and heed to the POOR 3.8 USER review rating, thinking that most people just didn't know how to install this device. BOY.. was I WRONG!
I had MORE issues with the software end of this device, than ANY other electronic device I've ever owned. And I can safely say that I have plenty of knowledge on the matter being a former operations manager for a large audio-visual electronics corporation.
After noticing that the software was giving me troubles, I took the easy way out and contacted the online customer support dept. for some input. TWO days later, and a poorly installed ALTERNATE driver from an HP 990c PRINTER just to get it to print, I gave up on this device and returned it! When the salesperson from Office Depot asked me why I was returning the unit, I just handed her a copy of the transcript from my conversation with the HP staff. After showing it to all of her coworkers and manager, she GLADY returned my money. I believe the transcript still is posted in their break room bulletin board for comic relief reading during lunch!
I have 4 other HP printers, devices both at home and office, but I would NEVER buy another one of these again.

Summary: While it does print fast, the scanner function has never worked and I've had several times that I've not been able to communicate with it over a home network. The scanner initially gave several different error messages; after spending and hour and 20 minutes online with HP tech support, the told me the issue was with MSI files being corrupted on my computer and to call Microsoft. An update to the HP software came out the next day and then the scanner gave different error messages. The last straw for me was last evening when I couldn't communicate over the network with the machine at all. I disconnected it, hooked up my old printer and $30 Canon scanner that works great. I'm extremely disappointed because I've been so use to HP products being so reliable.

Summary: After two days installing the all-in-one, scanner still doesn't work. HP Support was no help getting it fix. But we did clean out the registry twice, after getting the "WEBREG" "FATAL ERROR" over and over. They tried to tell me that it was MS and Dell. I told them that I had not had this trouble untill in install the 5600 HP printer. After 6 hours with HPSupport we got rid of the old webreg "HP" file.
Two more hours later they said I needed to contact MS there system32 file was corrupt. LOL
Then it was the USB cable or the USB device.
Couldn't be there software or hardware
After 12 attempts to install the printer fax and scanner. I told them that I would take the POS back and get a different brand "NOT HP"

Summary: I recently bought this printer to use in our home and I've been thrilled with the performance and ease of setting up and using this printer. Configuring this to work on our home network took all of 5 minutes. Within in about 20 minutes of installing the software and drivers I was up and running. I maintain an office with over 60 network printers and have dealt with many different brands and I found this to be as easy and as reliable to use as any of our production Multifunction printers costing 10 times as much. Unlike the other reviews, I had absolutely no problem installing the drivers and software. Network scanning from the printer is able to detect any of my computers with the HP software installed and can scan directly to it. Photograph prints on HP Photo paper are excellent, looks better then some of our Color Laserjets at work. If people are having problems with the software on this, I think they need to look at the Firewall settings on there computer as the HP printer communicates with the Computers quite a bit over the network. Another thing I like about this printer is the fact that the print heads are seperate from the ink cartridges but yet the heads are user replaceable should they ever need to be replaced. I rate this a 10 because of the high value you get in a multifunction printer that I personally paid all of $239+tax.

Summary: This is a near perfect product, the installtion is easy over a home network. The driver installation works well when installing on an older windows 2K machine it can up with a error, but its troubleshooting process solved the problem in minutes, nil problems on an XP pro PC. Print quality is so good for most things I just use draft print option, the normal print in laser quality. The duplexer is fast (especially in draft). The scanner & copy functions are excellent, but you do need to wind up the brightness a bit from the default settings. would be nice to have a fully enclosed paper tray like on the K550 series. A basic printer driver for use on older PCs without all the options would be nice as the drivers and software are a little HD space hungry.

Summary: If I did not use glossy brochure paper almost exclusively in my work (CD insert production), I probably would have never noticed this problem, which I spent hours online with tech support trying to correct. Ultimately I swapped out an L7680 for a new L7680 with exactly the same problem:
Anything printed IN BLACK, either photographic or simple print never completely sets, and smudges even with light skin contact, even if you allow days for drying. This leads to dirty fingers and smudged print and images. Not a way to impress my customers. I have tried every possible correction (reduced ink spray, HP paper, clean heads etc...)all under customer services direction. Nothing works. It is my strong opinion that the new Vivera Black ink is simply incompatable with glossy brochure papers. Ultimately HP refunded me for both printers, but if you have ever had to deal with HPs customer service, this was a nightmare. I hope someone from HP is reading this and acts upon it either by reformulating the Vivera Black Ink or making it clear on the product box that this series of printers is not suitable for glossy brochure printing.
Other than that, it's a fine unit.
HP can reference me at case #7500-235-238 if they would like more information about this defect.

Summary: The printer gets lost if requested to print multiple copies of a photograph. When I called tech service to have it fixed, they zoomed around in my registry, deleting files, and now the "Solution Center" doesn't work, and I get the error message "registry mismatch". Without the solution center, I can't check on ink levels or do any diagnostics. This printer is shared through a router via ethernet cables to two computers: one is XP and the other is Vista. This is, by far, the worst HP printer I have used.

Summary: I spent months researching for the most ink-efficient printer out there. I researched everything, from pages per ink, energy efficiency, features, media readers, networking... you name it. I came to the conclusion that the HP officejet L7680 (note: not the 7580) was the best. But they didn't offer it in Australia, so the 7580 had to do, and did just fine.
Installation through my network on OSX Tiger and Windows Vista was successful, but when it came to my laptop, running 10.5.2 leopard, it was no dice. While i can trick my printer into printing files from my laptop, any other feature like scanning and media reading don't work at all.
My second, and biggest, problem with this printer is the fact that it comes from HP, and from what I have experience from HP is nothing short of shocking customer service, so bad that it has rendered me scarred on purchasing any other HP product SOLELY on the basis of their customer support, more specifically their promotions department.
I bought my printer in November, and STILL haven't received their promotional wireless printing device that they promised me (it's now May). It doesn't effect my productivity, because I don't actually need the wireless printing device because I run the printer off a wireless network, but that's not the point. After numerous calls to their promotions department, they continue to ensure "speedy delivery" of my device, but always seem to "not know what could of happened" when I call back 4 weeks later questioning them.
Shocking. And not once have I spoken to someone with authority. Not once have anyone done anything to make it better. When I eventually get the device, I'll throw it in the bin, along with the printer warranty. Who knows how long they take with something that is actually hard.

Summary: No point in trying to scan or print in high resolution... it will take forever, they should just drop the feature. They should set default settings at borderless printing, it would save a lot of frustration in the beginning. Both the scanner and printer are having some serious cropping issues, not good to end up with a page that only prints half the page or scans half a pic.
I'll see if it can be resolved or its going back. Right now I would not recommend this to a business that needs a printer, I read the requirements for how to rate a product, I wanted to give it some credit, but under the criteria, I had to score this unit very low.
