Intro:
The HP W2207H is a 22 in, flat panel computer monitor.Compared to other flat panel monitors on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $335.Comes with a built-in set of stereo speakers. This unit features a 1680x1050 native resolution.Weighs 19.8 lbs.
Noteworthy Features:
Has 1680x1050 resolution. This is higher than the average monitor on the market today, but is to be expected for a monitor of this price. This monitor can eliminate the need to have PC speakers sitting on your desk -- just plug your PC's audio into the monitor and use the speaker that it has built in.Its wide viewing angle (160 degrees) is useful whenever the screen is being viewed by more than one person at the same time.Accepts DVI input, which allows for greater signal clarity than traditional VGA.
Weaker Features:
None noted, given available product data.
Suitability:
Built for those want a big display in a thin form factor. The 5 ms response time of this screen makes it ideal for fast-moving games and for watching movies.
Value:
Given its relatively inexpensive price, this monitor has great features for the money.
Suggestions:
(1) Before purchasing an LCD monitor, consider visiting your local store for a live demo to ensure that its overall image quality, color, and sharpness meets your expectation.(2) Since this monitor is DVI-capable, you might want a DVI-enabled graphics card in your PC to connect with it -- this will pass the digital video signal directly without converting it to analog, making for better performance.

Not sure what one of the user rants below was going on about, but this is really an exceptional monitor for the price. Works amazingly as my external monitor for my Sony SZ laptop...
Two downsides: - would it have killed them to ratchet this up to 1900x1600? - vista drivers do not seem to support portrait mode...which I'm ok with, I would never use it in portrait anyway
For $325 at BestBuy, you can't beat this thing.
BTW - anyone having issues with dual or triple monitors on Vista, check out the UltraMon utility. Works like a champ.

The monitor looked good in the store, but the one I bought has noise...horizontal lines running across the screen. You don't notice it when viewing web pages or documents, but when you edit photos there is all kinds of noise. HP was non-responsive to 5 calls to customer service asking for a refund.

This picture quality and brightness of this display are awesome. I have a bright light behind me and reflection has not been a problem when the monitor is on.
The ability to rotate the screen is awesome to view documents and web pages.
Negatives: The base (which may be necessary to handle the size and rotation) seems too large. In other words, the depth is increased. I wish it was more compact. Also, I like the screen rotation, but I have my display on a PC desk with a hutch overhead, and I am not able to rotate it while in its position in the hutch. Not a major sacrifice, but a negative nonetheless. Overall, I highly recommend and do not regret the purchase. Blu-Rays and HD DVD look great on it.

I did not buy this for anything special like graphic design or image editing. I bought it for use as regular computer-user's monitor and I'm quite pleased with it! It's got an awesome picture. Once I finally got the auto-rotate software to work correctly with my graphics card, the image rotates after you easily rotate the monitor, which makes web-surfing a whole new, more enjoyale experience. No, i do not work for HP, I swear it. The speakers may suck but who relies on their monitor for good sound? I don't even use them unless I've got my PS3 plugged straight into it, which is also easy to do. It even comes with an HDMI cable which is usually $25.00 or much more. I did some research before buying this monitor and I'm glad I did. The only reason it does not get a 10 in my book is because of how rediculously difficult it was for me to get the software to work correctly. I finally did it, but things may definitely (and probably will) go smoother for you.

Overall I would buy this Monitor again. I got lucky because my video card has HDMI on it. My other computer has DVI support on it. I wish this monitor supported DVI. I would rate this monitor at 8.0 because of the lack of DVI support.

I was disappointed... Even if I will not pay attention to backlight leakage from the top and bottom - the Spyder2Pro color calibrator screams "STAY AWAY of this monitor". The colors are not constant, the color temperature is different all over the screen. The luminance of different areas of the screen sometimes float to +/-6cd. Awful.

Yes, the image looks great in landscape mode if you're using XP, or if you're using only a single monitor with Vista. Otherwise, DON'T BUY THIS! Portrait mode works in XP, but the first time I tried it with Vista I got a blank screen - also on my 2nd monitor (a Viewsonic). After talking with HP's tech support (in India) I decided to upgrade my video card. Portrait mode then worked (sort of), although the text was blurry. When I put it back to landscape mode the whole image was shifted 1.5" left and 1/2" down, hiding the taskbar. No adjustment could be made to fix this except reinstalling the driver. HP's software 'My Display' keeps an eye on your monitors and causes problems. If you try to set your non-HP monitor as your main monitor, My Display puts it back. Even if the HP is your main one, whenever you reboot, My Display starts up and immediately uninstalls your 2nd monitor. If you look in Device Manager it isn't there anymore. You can reinstall it manually, but upon reboot the same thing happens. HP's tech support is by hard-to-understand Indians who are not very knowledgeable about this product. One person told me they can only support it or guarantee it works if I'm using an HP computer or an HP video card. I found some reviews of the previous version of this monitor from a year ago which show HP knew of these problems a long time ago. Another annoying thing is there's no DVI connector, so you either have to use the VGA or buy a $45 HDMI to DVI converter.
