Summary: I have tried several of these types of units and this one has been the best by far. The software works well and gives many options for cataloging the discs. It has around 20 catagories for disc type alone and you can customize the list. Actually you can customize most of the options. It also supports some used defined fields if you get the advanced software which is well worth the cost. It also supports searching across all the units. You can also capture the content tree of a disc so it is searchable as well.

The unit itself is very quiet with motorized insert and eject. I usually can not hear it operate and it's on the corner of my desk; actually, there are three stacked up and I'm going to be getting two more.

The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was there are a couple more features I'd like to see in the software to make the interface just a bit closer to one-click access.

All in all, I don't think you'll be disappointed in these units to organize your discs. They could only be better if they held more discs.

The initial installation was a little shaky and it can be time consuming to type in detail about every cd you place in the unit. However it pays for itself when you have to retrieve one. It works flawlessly. I?ve had mine almost six months and have had no problems with it to date.

Con: The only thing I dislike about this product is the reporting software. In order to some real reporting, it?s necessary to buy an upgrade to the software that comes with the unit. For the price this should be already thrown in.

After loading up the unit, I'd ask for a disc and the unit would eject the wrong one. I'd ask for a disc and the unit would lock up and that disc would no longer be available for ejection. I was constantly running the software utilities to reset the device and to run diagnostics. I had to open it more then once to clear disc jams and finally gave up. Imation tech support for this device is non-existent. I'd tell anyone thinking about buying this device to hold off until some major changes are made, or a better one comes along. Mine's going in the trash!
