My problem: Olevia 332H LCD TV that comes with no remote codes available to program into any standard universal remote. A wonderful bargain of a TV that requires the seperate use of it's supplied remote only. Frustrating!
The solution: Sony RM-VL600 Universal Learning Remote. It took no time to program the Olevia's functions into the Sony remote, and it works like a champ! Even if all your components will work with a slightly less expensive non-learning universal remote, this is still a must. Being able to customize keys for each component, such as programming the TV volume to be adjusted no matter if you have the remote function on TV, DVD, Cable, etc. makes it worth it's weight in gold.
I will never buy another universal remote that does not allow the "learning" function to customize the keys for each A/V component to my liking. Is this remote as fancy as a $100+++ touch-screen unit, such as one of the highly rated Logitech Harmony units? No. Is it a steal for $25? You bet!
Sony is well known for making top notch electronics, but usually with a price tag to match. Bang-for-the-buck value makes me look past minor shortcomings, such as the absence of a few dedicated buttons that might be useful with a DVR or other piece of equipment. However, for the average home theater cunsumer with a stack of remotes on the coffee table, this remote is a must have!
