Summary: I was looking for some in-ear replacements for the Apple earbuds supplied with the iPod. I ran across these online and thought I would give them a try. I'm familiar with Sure equipment; their microphones and professional monitoring equipment is generally accepted to be the best value in the pro-sound industry.

My initial impression was poor; the stiff clear buds hurt my ears and didn't seal very well, leading to very poor low-end response. All that changed when I switched to the soft black silicone buds. What a difference! When these headphones seal well, they are exceptional!

I have spent quite a lot of time around reference audio systems, studio monitoring equipment and generally high-quality audio systems. The really good ones with ruler-flat response sound a little lacking in punch to me, and maybe a tad bit shrill. These headphones replicated that sound better than any pair I've ever owned. I don't have the equipment to measure their response (who does?!) but I would bet that they are nearly flat in their response.

The only drawback I can really speak to is some listening fatigue. Most in-ear offerings will cause listening fatigue faster than on-ear offerings but these may cause fatigue a little faster than I would expect.

The case is a work of art. A zipper-closed molded fabric clamshell is pierced by a plastic wire spool that also holds the earbuds securely. Incredibly compact and rugged, this case is the standard by which all portable headphone cases should be judged.

The headphones themselves are also very rugged. Molded strain reliefs at the earbuds take any strain that would dislodge them from your ears. The cord itself is heavy and well insulated. The "pants" (the point at which a single wire becomes two) is again relieved with molded strain relief pieces and the right-angle 1/8" TRS plug is large and well relieved also.

Summary: I've had these for over a year now and have been extremely pleased. I do a lot of active work while wearing these, including construction work. Most cords would get nicked and damaged in that type of environment but these can take a beating. In the year I've had them I have yet to damage the cord. I have owned many other pairs of earbuds in the past and they all had the cords sliced in half by even simple things like getting caught in a jacket zipper.

The sound quality isn't outstanding, there is no deep base and no extreme highs but there is definitely a nice mix in the middle.

The fit is extremely comfortable with all of the earpiece fittings you are given and they stay in place very well.

Overall if you are looking for an extremely durable pair of earbuds that also have nice sound quality I highly recommend these.

Summary: I paid less than $60 bucks for these headphones, brand new, and they are great quality. They take some time to get used to wearing, but once you do, wow, the sound quality is amazing. You can hear little things that you miss with regular headphones, like the crispness of a snare drum in the background of an orchestra. Just amazing little headphones.

Summary: Ah, hello! These things rock. Now I have to start ripping my music in 192kbps otherwise the songs will sound like sh&%t. I like the way they run over your ears then cinch up in back of your head. They are secure and wont fall out though I don't think I'll use them for running or working out since I sweat like a pig-I use my crappy h-phones for that. The E-2s come with a bunch of "sleeves" in different sizes and textures so you find the perfect fit. The medium size blacks fit perfectly and feel great. These black ones seem to actually form a vacuum seal in the canal when you press in giving them a sound-proof quality. Hundred bucks for some buds? Well thats a call but if you want to get something better than $15-$20 buds the $50 ones don't sound that much better. You pretty much have to get into the $100+ range to get something noticeably better.
