The good: Seamless desktop synchronization; includes all of Quicken's best features; thorough online FAQ and included manual and help files; secure; lets multiple users sync one budget.
The bad: Can't sync budgets that you create on your Palm to your desktop; limited budget tracking and investment data.
The bottom line: If you use desktop Quicken, this mobile companion is a must. Once you train yourself to use it regularly, Pocket Quicken will help you keep up-to-the-minute tabs on your finances.

Summary: There clearly appear to be some install bugs here, particulary for Quicken Basic versions 2000 and below. I run Quicken 2000 Basic, and tried repeatedly to install this product on my WinMe machine, to no avail. Tech support told me to try the download version, which I did, also with no results. I am VERY unimpressed.

Excellent program but needs more capability
Pros: Tracks multiple accounts and account types, syncs transaction histories, syncs memorized transactions and categories (big plus) and is easy to enter new transactions. Nice, clean, simple user interface.
Cons: No report or graphing abilities. Lacking on investment tracking features. Doesn't sync with PC Quicken budget.

Summary: The program is great for keeping tabs on financial transactions on the go and then uploading them to desktop version of Quicken. There are two major drawbacks to this program stability when a lot of transactions have been made and the ability to see indivdual transactions. It probably would take up more memory but a search that keeps the dates in chronolgoical order while showing the type of transacation would be a welcome addition.

Summary: As someone who neer enters info in check registers and need to keep close tabs on cradit card charges, quicken has been indispensible for keeping up to date on my accounts and tracking all those slips of paper in my wallet. Pocket Quicken was one of the reasons I got a Palm IIIc -- now I can carry my financial status with me wherever I go!

Summary: Pocket Quicken is good for entering transactions on the road. But it's usefulness pretty much ends there. Primary complaint -- It is NOT seamless. If you enter in transactions to Pocket Quicken, Sync with your PC, then later sync with your PC again (without going into Desktop Quicken and and accepting the transactions) all your balances are wrong. This can be manually managed by turning off PQ sync until your ready, but then it's not "seamless", nor does it keep transactions current with desktop changes. Pocket Quicken is a good product, if you want "best of category" category being "Palm financial software", then Ultrasoft Money is hands down better!!!! I know it's for MS Money, not for Quicken, but it lives up to all the promises / statements that Landware makes about Pocket Quicken. Until Landware makes Pocket Quicken FULLY functional with Desktop Quicken, I don't see how it can deserve a "9 out of 10"

The only downside I have found is that you can't create new catagories on the palm without having to create the exact catagory on the desktop version of Quicken at sync. In a split transaction, the desktop doesn't tell you what the new catagory is - just the amount. Otherwise, it works flawlessly.

As a result, the budget tool cannot be relied on for accurate info. Landware won't release a bug fix. Therefore, my advice is to wait for the next release, don't spend money on this one.
