The good: Quicken 2007 Premier has the ability to connect to more than 4,300 financial institutions; a simplified interface; one-step account updates; a calendar that spells out your daily financial status; pop-up insights of transaction details; an affordable online backup; storage for images of receipts and invoices; scanner support; local encryptionof your data; Windows and Mac versions; and free, online-help chat.
The bad: Despite support for thousands of banks and creditors, Quicken 2007 couldn't import data from a particular checking account from a national bank. Also, its phone support is pricey.
The bottom line: Intuit Quicken 2007 Premier offers a thorough overhaul of its interface, as well as useful new features and conveniences that other financial software products can't match.

Nice product, terrible data integrity. Beware!!!

Summary: I have been a Quicken User for many years and should have known better but I mistakenly upgraded to Quicken 2007 soon after its release. Since I have upgraded, I have not been able to reliably use it over the past 8 monts. I have had many data file corruptions that have rendered it useless. I have gone through 4 maintenance updates with no improvement. I have completely rebuilt my data file only to have it corruptted within weeks. While I like the new interface, I cannot use a financial program where data integrity is not maintained. Check out the Quicken user forum at Quicken.com before you buy!! I am now trying to convert back to 2005.

Summary: The program is very buggy and does not always do what it tells you it is doing (it says it downloaded from the bank but it has not). I have sent 4 emails to support and no response. I am not sure how Intuit can sell a product in the US and not support it.
CNET - you guys/gals really missed the boat on this one. I bought the product based on your CNET editors' rating and am very intereted in why the rating is so high. Does Quicken advertise with CNET?1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Very disapointed. I have not been able to download my banks, credit cards and pay my bills for 4 months now!

Totally dissappointed. I returned the product.

Summary: I purchased Quicken 2007 Home and Business conceivably to track business expenses for my small home business. When I went to the tax planning menu, it asked if I would like to import my tax data from TurboTax, which I use. I said yes and got an error message stating that my 2006 tax data was not supported. I then tried my 2005 tax data and got the same result. I was able to import my 2004 data. Ridiculous. Of further concern was that when I emailed Quicken Customer Service, I was told that Quicken will not import TurboTax data. That answer was just flat out wrong. I emailed the rep back and suggested she actually go into the program and see where there IS an import feature from TurboTax, even if it was not working. I then tried the chat customer service and after spending about a half hour trying different things with the rep, he finally came back and said that it is a known problem and it was being researched. The whole experience was frustrating and unacceptable so today I returned the product. Buyer beware in spite of the glowing review from CNET. How could their opinion be so far off from the customers'?

It WAS a great program but this version is BAD--Do Not Buy!

Summary: I started using Quicken years ago to track my investments. Quicken had a great ability to track several equities that I own. When a company merged with another company, Quicken updated all the information on the new equity and all was well. I upgraded to Quicken 2007 Premier and started noticing that the value of my portfolio increased in value to over $10,000. I start looking into this (cause I'm not that good of an investor) and realized that all the old equities that merged with new equities re-appeared and even worse, re-added to my bottom line. I contacted support via email and all they could give me was suggestions. Every time they told me to 'try' this, I did and got nowhere. I sent screen prints and got other 'suggestions' to try something else. Everytime I got a reply from support, it was from another person and they would not follow up my previous thread of the results I followed after using their previous suggestions! That is really BAD. I'm asking for my money back and so far no reply to THAT request. Quicken was a GREAT program but this new version and the technical support is BAD. This version of Quicken is so elaborate that its own technical staff is reduced to making suggestions on how to resolve software problems. I have not received any replies that give me confidence that the technical support staff knows how to use Quicken 2007 Premier. And that's BAD. I want to give this program a "1" rating but CNET's pop up window states this is a rare occurance. So I'll go with a "2" and I'm being very GENEROUS.

Summary: With no qif support, and my bank not among the few on Quicken's approved list, this is a huge step backward since I must now input all transactions manually. Adding insult to injury,it deinstalled my old version, which did allow QIF imports. Quicken sux. The move to drop QIF support, and force manual entry was to 'improve the Quicken experience.'

Last Good Version of Quicken Was 1998

Summary: I've been a software engineer in the PC industry since the original IBM PC. I still have my original Quicken 2 diskette from the mid-eighties. I've purchased most of the upgrades to Quicken over the years to support the development but reverted back to my Quicken 98. It was the last stable, dependable version of Quicken. Intuit is no longer the company they once were and have completely lost sight of what quality software should be.

No Future Tax Support
by sagarman on March 24, 2008
Pros: Fairly user-friendly interface; connected to most of my financial providers
Cons: Tax planning for 2006 & 2007 only, consistently problems with the Quicken server when updating accounts

Summary: I had relatively few qualms about this product until recently. I had always used Microsoft Money until 2007 but decided to give Quicken a try. Not too many noticible differences. However, I recently noticed that in the Tax Planner section, I could only choose between 2006 and 2007 as the tax year. This being 2008, I emailed Quicken to see when 2008 would be available as a "Tax Year." The answer? Never. You have to upgrade. I bought this version of Quicken in 2007 - after I had completed my 2006 taxes. Therefore, I received only one year of tax planning use out of this product. I know that Quicken sunsets support for their products, but to only give one or maybe two years of value to customers is ridiculous. Goodbye Quicken and good riddance.
