Summary: I purchased the wua2340 to replace my good old reliable Linksys usb (wusb54g) desktop adapter which I passed on to my daughter at college. It was a good opportunity as I had recently upgraded my old Netgear router to the Dlink RangeBooster wbr2310 and this adapter would leverage the 108Mbps capabilities. I immediately started experiencing the dreaded Windows XP blue-screen-of-death (BSOD), the text of which implicated the wua2340’s driver (a5agu.sys). I immediately located, downloaded and installed Dlink’s latest driver but unfortunately the condition continued. Dlink technical support advised me I had a defective adapter and directed me to exchange it for a new one.
I was skeptical as I had researched the problem on the internet searching on “bsod” and a5agu.sys and found many other similar problems without resolution. Some related to a buffer-overflow security exploit in earlier driver versions, but supposedly fixed in later versions. So I played the game and tried a replacement and the problem remained. I returned the adapter for refund and am now trying the Netgear WG111T. No problems so far.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

This is a horrible DON'T BUY IT!
by skeshmir on March 13, 2010
Pros: Cheap and small.
Cons: It overheats, disconnects and causes BSODs in 64 bit versions of windows. I have come to the conclusion that the heat generated by the card is causing the problems people are experiencing.
Summary: This will void the warranty, but removing the cheap plastic cover on the card seems to help with signal strength and also the heat issues people are having. Be careful ...
Summary: This will void the warranty, but removing the cheap plastic cover on the card seems to help with signal strength and also the heat issues people are having. Be careful not to short the card or you might zap a USB port in the process. When removing the cover, loosen the area around the USB port and pull back. The top of the card is held in with glue. I was not very careful as I will be getting a real internal network card and didn't damage anything on the card.
Just thought I would share my experiences with this card in hopes of helping others. -
Not TOO bad
by PooBear1227 on March 1, 2009
Pros: I hooked it up for my daughters' computer, our computers are in two difeerent parts of the house. As long as we aim it towards my sysstem, it works better than the old dial up I had before. For the price, it works.
Cons: Wish it pulled a better signal from the main router.
Summary: When I had dial up, we could not both be on computers. Now with the dsl through SBC - life is better.

The Worst Computer Product I've Ever Bought

Summary: I purchased this product in 8/07. I have had nothing but problems with this product. This product is built to fail. Flimsy, light and will fall apart if you drop it. You have to tape it to keep it together. Range is very limited. Signal strength is low. Will work for about a month and then becomes very unreliable. I've had two of them and will be receiving a 3rd one in a few days. I requested that d-link upgrade me to a better product (DWA-142), but they said I would have to pay $75 to try out this product. I complained and they reduced it to $50. I refused to pay even that amount. I have to pay the return charges on the defective product. I have invested over $55 in this worthless product and countless hours (10 to 15 hours) with their tech support trying to have a reliable signal. Do not buy this product. It will cause you nothing but grief. I'm currently trying a Netgear Wireless - G USB 2.0 adapter. Works great and is a better built and sturdier product than d-link. Price is about the same. I'm finished with D-link. I will never pay another cent to this organization. They do not take care of their customers.
