worked better than i thought
by LordOrwell on December 26, 2008
Pros: worked great. was very cheap considering it was revision A and on sale for $35 at radio shack.
Cons: doesn't come with vista drivers on the cd. If you run it on vista you will need to download the driver on a different computer or use a different connection method.
Summary: It was really worth the money. I bought one and was told by the salesman "we've had them returned because they don't work with vista". I had it ...

Summary: It was really worth the money. I bought one and was told by the salesman "we've had them returned because they don't work with vista". I had it working in vista within ten minutes. Latest drivers support everything EXCEPT windows 64. This sucks because i dual boot x64. I also was disappointed to see there weren't any osx drivers available since i have a dual-boot on a dell with osx. Other than that it works flawlessly with vista and xp both, although there's a problem with the factory software you are given. You are given the option to skip install of the dlink software and use windows zero wireless config, but it installs it anyway and it can prevent windows from auto-connecting to your wireless network.

as a follow-up, i would like to point out another flaw that makes the thing pretty much unusable with a media center system. If you go into standby the adapter will never come back out of standby. You have to reboot to get internet to work again. Even unplugging it and plugging it into a different port is the same. I did find a fix. You have to go into hardware properties and lower the speed of the usb port it is plugged into. This will cap your internet to about 4mb/sec. It's a software issue but they haven't released a driver update since i've owned it, and they haven't released any firmware updates either even though you are supposed to be able to update it when wireless n is finalized.

as an update, drivers crash in standby mode if you have them plugged into a 2.0 usb slot. It won't wake from standby. 1.1 doesn't do this. As well, there is no firmware update even though wireless n has been finalized.

Cons: Some people are actually crazy enough to pass this up!
Summary: All in All get it. If it isn't what youre looking for send it back but i can assure you you wont regret this product!

Summary: I was concerned when I read some of the reviews, but since I had just installed a Dlink DIR-615 N wireless router I picked up for $30, I decided to take a chance. I put in the cd fully expecting to download a Vista driver as others have done and found that by pressing a button on my new router, setup was automatic! It does not get hot like others have mentioned and my connection speed is much improved at 130mps. Since I got this on sale for $40 which is almost half of what I could find other N series adpaters for, I consider it a real bargin. I can only speak for my own installation which was necessitated by my HPTX1000 lossing the WLAN function, but it is great when coupled with the Dlink router and is the best $70 I have spent on technology in my memory.

Pros: 5 minute set-up. Comes with USB cradle for quick disconnect. Improves network connection and makes it simple.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Cheap and yet it works!
by zaphire22 on November 28, 2009
Pros: Works on 32 bit Windows 7 OS
Affordable ($19 sale in Office Depot)
Fast and reliable
Easy to install
Comes with a cradle which is of big help
Cons: If only it's a plug and play device then it would be much better since installing a driver thru CD is a thing in the past.

Summary: This device just gave a new name to my computer "WIFI enabled Desktop". I just loved it. I exceeds my expectation considering that the salesperson nor me knows if this adapter works on 32 bit Windows 7 OS and yet it did. It's affordable ($19 in Office Depot) but I would not say it's cheaply made since it look well constructed. It comes with a USB extension cradle which is of big help especially in tight areas and limited spaces. It took me just few minutes to install and there I am, watching streaming videos online smoothly, without no hasle nor cut off signal. Well actually it happened to me once but no big deal since all I did was to refresh the screen and there I was, back on track again. I really would recommend this product to anybody looking for an affordable wifi adapter since I myself would guarantee that this thing will sove your problem especially on dealing with long and cluttered wires just to hook an internet unto another computer. There's a lot of wifi adapter out there but so far this is the lowest priced adapter I've seen in local stores and yet it works just like everything else.
