Summary: When I bought this wireless adapter, I was attracted by "N300". I expected the speed should be very close to 300Mbps. Sadly, it was only up to 150 or lower on my N300 router. Recently, I upgraded my router to N900. The speed of the transmit signal obviously is higher and the coverage is better. However, this D-Link wireless USB adapter still does not exceed 150Mbps. There should not be any excuses to have this poor performance.
I tried the D-Link N600 router. The signal is worst than my non-DLink N300 router. So, I refunded the D-Link router. The N900 router that I am using is, of course, a non-DLink product. I am trying to stay away from D-Link product.
I agree with the first reviewer that D-Link is misleading. I don't trust D-Link product any more except that I am still stuck with this so call "N300" D-Link wireless adapter. I will definitely replace it with something else better when the price comes down.
I bought a non-DLink N600 wireless dual bands USB adapter for my wife's PC. It's cheaper than this D-Link N300 wireless adapter and it really works up to 300Mbps. What a difference!

Summary: I have a D-Link 300 N wireless router. Used with the built in wireless adapter in my Dell laptop, the transfer rate is 130 Mbps. Nowhere near the advertised 300 but slightly better than a 100 base T network cable.
I hooked up the D-Link Nano N 300 adapter to another computer and put the router 6 feet away from it. Max rate is 65 Mbps. 12 feet away it dropped to 26 Mbps. In other words, the adapter is made with a maximum transfer speed of 65 or slightly better than half the speed of a 100 base T network cable.
D-Link is careful not to mention maximum transfer rate anywhere on their website. In fact, no actual transfer rates are ever mentioned, only that it works with an N 300 router. Very misleading.
