Worthwhile if you crave maximum wireless performance
by mouseclick on November 13, 2009
Pros: Gets you to full bars so you can ensure HD quality and better online gaming but, only necessary if your current adapter only does half the job and you experience frequent downgrades in connection quality
Cons: Manual is wrong in telling you to install the drivers first (already done with the latest console update download) unless you've never connected to the Internet with your XBox or don't regularly install the updates - then, you'll need the disc...

Summary: I?ve only had the wireless N adapter for a couple of days and so far, it appears to be great compared to the old adapter. I have my console in an enclosed wooden cabinet that I open when I want to play. In my tests (using the Media Center Network Tuner), I could never get the bars very high ? they would go close to half way. I have an 802.11n router, set at the time for 802.11a, in an adjacent room (the console and router are around 20-25 feet and one wall and door apart). I decided to buy a 10 foot USB ?extension cord to get closer. I plugged the cord to the back of the console and the adapter to the end of the cord so, now I could string the old wireless adapter 10 feet closer to the router. It helped but, I was still 1-3 bars short of ?HDTV? quality.
The new N adapter works great. I actually attached it to the USB cable too so it remains 10 feet away from the console but, 10 feet closer to the router. I now have all the bars green ? every single one at all times, which is what I wanted. For kicks, I checked to see what it would be like if I plugged it right to the back of the console and it was 1-2 bars shy of the top, though still well into HDTV quality ? I put it back on the USB extension cord?
When I first got it, the instructions tell you to insert the driver disk into the console to install the new Xbox 360 wireless N adapter driver before connecting the actual adapter. I did this and the disc did nothing. I called XBox support and they put me on hold to research the problem. I started thinking ?this thing has only been out 1-2 days ? they are not going to have any research on it.? I plugged it in anyway, without installing the driver, and it started working. When they came back on, they escalated my problem and I explained to them it was working. I figured they probably already installed the driver in some recent console software update. They had me run the typical connection tests (to see if I could get on XBox Live, the Network Tuner, etc.). In the end we both concluded the driver was indeed probably already installed in some update. So, if you always update your console and upgrade to this new adapter, ignore what the manual states ? there is no need for the installation disc. If you?ve never connected online or do not have the latest updates, you probably will need the disc and it will probably prompt you to go ahead with the install, unlike my disc that just sat there with a ?mixed media disc? message. Keep that in mind. If you plan to stream HD quality stuff (like home videos, NetFlix, etc.), and your old adapter was not quite HD quality, this is a worthy upgrade. If you don?t plan to, and are near HD quality with your old adapter, you don?t really need to upgrade since your Internet connection is not likely to do 50 Mbps down / 3 Mbps up anyway (unless you have FIOS, U-Verse, etc.), and the old adapter can support anything under this just fine. My old adapter was always up and down and never at HD quality so, it was worthwhile to me.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

throw away your wires
by gracdp on October 16, 2010
Pros: Works like a charm. One you get the install worked out (below) absolutely no dramas. I have not had any drop outs or noticed any impact on games.
Cons: The installation instructions don't work on the older 360's (i have an old Arade). Place the USB into the front port of the Xbox and then turn on. It should then get picked up. Its expensive and design/aesethic wise pretty clunky
Summary: This is a great addition to the Xbox. Pity the wireles isn't built in like the PS3 and it's expensive. If you can find one cheap on the ...
Summary: This is a great addition to the Xbox. Pity the wireles isn't built in like the PS3 and it's expensive. If you can find one cheap on the net grab it. If it was cheaper and the instructions worked out of the box I'd give this 5 out of 5 for its performance.

by AbReVieWeRXy on August 24, 2010
Pros: Xbox 360 Wireless n Adapter I think is the best way to get on xbox live. It has blazing fast speed especially with the Linksys WRT160N. So if you have that router you are in good and hands. And you are ready to go on xbox live!
Cons: Whell it cost about 85$. But it was worth it!
Summary: Bottom Line This Is a great product for Xbox 360 xbox live users it is very fast!
Overall this is a GREAT item!

Very satisfied.
by dcfan776 on March 19, 2010
Pros: Well you dont have to deal with a cable, which is great for an apartment that is being rented, signal strength is at least 3 to 4 bars, pretty good for being downstairs from the router. Dual antenas give it a better signal strength.
Cons: It is wireless so you will have a little more lag then a direct connect with an ethernet cable, but if placed in the right spot the signal strength can be just as good 80 percent of the time.
Summary: Great, the guy at the store tried to convince me to stick with the ethernet cable and said that the wireless was not that great. I am pretty sure that ...
Summary: Great, the guy at the store tried to convince me to stick with the ethernet cable and said that the wireless was not that great. I am pretty sure that he was thinking of the old wireles adapter that xbox first came out with. The dual antenas make a bigger difference in signal strength and I think they have really improved from their first edition. All in all your not gonna have that big of a difference in online playing using the wireless connector, if you place your console in the right area.

It connects you to the ethernet, no problem
by qkbeezy on January 10, 2010
Pros: It connects you to the internet and I played COD4 with no problems.
Cons: It did not work at all with Net-flix video. It stated my connection was to slow.
Summary: Great for playing games over the internet. No good for streaming live video.

Does exactly what it says on the tin.
by conorew on January 3, 2010
Pros: Very fast connection, absolutley no problems streaming hi quality video
Cons: To install you have to insert a driver disk, which takes up some storage on your onsole although i think it is minimum.
Summary: With the price (when i bought it) being just a touch cheaper than the G version, it is hard to think of a reason why anyone wouldn't buy this. ...
Summary: With the price (when i bought it) being just a touch cheaper than the G version, it is hard to think of a reason why anyone wouldn't buy this. Also with home media streaming getting bigger and bigger it makes sense to at least keep you options open and buy the Wireless N Microsoft adaptor.

The best move XBOX has made for the console.
by coseyluv on January 1, 2010
Pros: Increases the signal reception for my console. I live in an townhouse and my wireless router is posted next to my desktop computer downstairs. Once I replaced my single antenna adapter with the new dual antenna my reception has increased greatly.
Cons: The price.
Summary: I give this adapter 3 thumbs up for operational performance, lag during game play has decreased and while watching NETFLIX I can maintain high def picture quality. The difference between ...
Summary: I give this adapter 3 thumbs up for operational performance, lag during game play has decreased and while watching NETFLIX I can maintain high def picture quality. The difference between the 2 adapters is like night and day. The new dual antenna adapter while being the best attachment since sliced bread for the 360 was well overdue on its release and just slightly pricey.

Way overpriced
by wirelesscaller on December 26, 2009
Pros: Wireless n standard and improved security over some of the older options.
Cons: There are cheaper options and no telling if this is compatible with other devices in the event the xbox is sold.
Summary: I read this on this site and didn't realize how many other cheaper options. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13845_3-10408768-58.html?tag=mncol;title
