Roku 2 XS price range: $55.00 - $119.99

The good: The Roku 2 XS is a small streaming-media box that costs only $100. It offers hundreds of streaming-video and -audio services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, HBO Go, Vudu, Pandora, Mog, Rdio, and MLB.TV. Roku also offers cross-platform search, capable of finding content across major streaming services. The XS model also offers 1080p HD video, an Ethernet port, a motion remote, and a free copy of Angry Birds.
The bad: For twice the price, the XS doesn't deliver a lot of compelling additional features beyond those available on the Roku LT. For those invested in the Apple ecosystem, the Roku doesn't offer the same tight integration as the Apple TV's AirPlay functionality. The Roku 2 XS also lacks channels for YouTube and Spotify.
The bottom line: The Roku 2 XS is an excellent Internet media box, but most users will find the cheaper Roku LT or Roku HD models to be a better deal.

Hello ComputeResque. How may I help you?
ComputeResque15:39:03
Where are the hardware specifications for each player? microSDXC memory class requirements? microSDXC max memory support, etc...
Jane15:39:41
Are you trying to know the files supported by the USB channel on Roku?
ComputeResque15:40:59
No, got that. Does roku support Class 6 microSDXC memory? if so, what is the maxium sized ram supported?
Jane15:43:56
Actually, Roku supports a maximum of 32gb for Sd card/
ComputeResque15:44:12
What Class? Class 2, 4, 6, 10 or 16?
Jane15:44:48
Clsss 2.
ComputeResque15:46:47
Only 2MB/s? When 10MB/s can be bought... That is terrible. When will a firmware update be available?
Jane15:49:07
As of the moment, we still don't have the ETa on when will be the software upgraded for our roku players.
ComputeResque15:50:52
Is the microSDXC slot used to buffer streaming content?
Jane15:51:29
Nope. It wis use for storing channel on roku .
ComputeResque15:52:58
If there is a hardware specification table on the web, where is it?
INTERNAL RAM SIZE, PROCESSOR TYPE, CLOCK SPEED, SDHC, USB specification (do not give lowest acceptable, but highest)
Jane15:55:44
Let me check that.
Please give me a moment.
ComputeResque15:58:15
microSDXC?
Jane15:59:16
With regards to USB specification, you may check this link:http://support.roku.com/entries/423946-what-media-file-types-does-the-roku-usb-media-player-channel-support
This is with regards to the Micro Sd:http://support.roku.com/entries/20288957-what-types-of-microsd-cards-are-supported-on-the-roku-2-players
ComputeResque16:03:48
as I said, had both pages... one page says it need microSDXC speed of 12Mbps Peak speed but your device only supports 2Mbps... contradiction
16:04:31
WHAT CLASS IS THE USB? CLASS 2 OR 3?
Jane16:04:54
Class 2 for USB.
Micro SD for Roku does not have any specifications for speed(MBPS). The MBPS (type of measurement) is only use for the broadband connection requirement for the roku unit.
With regards to the Micro SD, Roku specifies that it should have a minimum of 2GB storage
ComputeResque16:08:14
http://support.roku.com/attachments/token/xwdyjlqsdbkeamj/?name=Roku-USB-support_video_codecs.JPG
You say ruko will only pull information at Class 2 speed 2 Mb/s.
Jane16:13:07
The table is for USB drives actually. It is not applicable for the Micro Sd cards since SD card are only use for storage.
ComputeResque16:14:26
That was my question. what is the maximum MicroSD Class supported?
Jane16:16:53
I'm sorry but our system does not specify the Speed Class Rating of the micro Sd card to be use on Roku. It only specifies Class 2 with a minimum of 2GB storage.
ComputeResque16:17:56
Beside the two URLS you shared....
If there is a ruko hardware specification table on the web, where is it?
Jane16:21:48
We don't have another link for the hardware specification for the roku players aside from the 2 urls I have given a while ago. We have the product comparison table.
ComputeResque16:22:23
I have seen it. Not what I am asking for.....What file system does ruko support for owner storage? FAT32, exFAT, UFS, EXT3, or ReiseFS?
Jane16:23:27
Roku player supports FAT32.
It is because we are having issues on NTFS.
ComputeResque16:26:32
exactly! NTFS is a memory based system. FAT is on the block device. Hence, why microsoft was walked to blessing the exFAT system.
Jane16:30:36
YEs , that would be the case. However, we cannot give you the full details of it. Our Roku players are designed by our engineers in that way due ton the software installed on the unit.
ComputeResque16:32:19
This has been disappointing. I was jazzed to get a ruko. It seems the specifications are so basement level. Your engineers have planned the device lifespan of only two years. If I wanted that; I'd get an appletv.0 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Terrible Customer Support
by tommyboy2k on September 2, 2011

Summary: I placed my order online to get the $25 discount and received an email that my order was made but I would need to contact customer service. I called immediately only to find out that my payment may or might not have gone through and that my order didn't go through but they suggested I not place another order for 3 hours and check with my bank (no joke). After wasting more than an hour of my time, they will process a refund (if it went through), and they won't honor the order. It is not worth the stress to work with Roku.

Worst Device EVER purchased and I owned a Zune!
by cajunpoorguy on July 31, 2011
Pros: Small, compact with both HDMI and RCA connections. Long cables too.
Cons: Won't stay connected to access point. Takes forever to load netflix. Continuous dropped connections. I made many attempts to watch different movies and it would kick off the connection every 20 seconds or so. I would reconnect and try again and by the tim

Summary: Nice concept. Poor Execution. At least make a product that WORKS. Doesn't stay connected long enough to even browse netflix for a movie let alone watch one. Wasn't that the target market use of this product? You HAVE to provide a credit card on roku website to even complete setting up the device before finding out it doesn't work. Now I have a junk product that will be heading back to Best Buy and I have to go remove the roku account it made me create with a credit card. Hopefully, it will remove my credit card info when the account is removed. Sad thing is that you will not even find out it doesn't work until you've handed over your CC info. Probably should go sign up for LifeLock now.

Worthless Until
by raphaeld27 on August 16, 2011
Pros: It's not completely redundant compared to a new blu-ray play.
Cons: No DLNA SUPPORT!!!
Summary: Without being able to stream music from my extensive library what is the point? My Samsung TV does that!!!

Loss of dual channel wi-fi, component video
by halkaplan on July 25, 2011
Pros: Smaller than last series.
Cons: No component video
No optical audio
No dual channel wi-fiSummary: If you have a TV without HDMI, your only choice is composite. The red, white and yellow so you can only get standard definition. Very poorly thought out.

Waste of money...
by Csipa1 on August 16, 2011
Pros: price and the basic idea is good, however, nothing in life is cheap (forget free anymore)
Cons: Why spread the rumour the Netflix supports Full HD, when its not. Also, watch your usage cap from your ISP, some of these greedhouses will soon turn your online TV/movie experiences into a sour one.
Summary: So what am I supposed to do with my last year's Roku box? Every year a new box, another $100? Is this how Roku rolls?
