Pros: The HK line has a clean design and easy to use. The system sounds great. It fits into my classic style stereo system very well.
Cons: If you are looking for a 7.1 home theater system, look elsewhere. This is two-channel stereo receiver/amp only.

Summary: I wanted to replace my classic HK530 Amp/Receiver purchased back in the days when you went to the 'HiFi' store. I want to listen to FM, play vinyl recordings, and have stereo amplification for my DVD and PS3. Someday, I will get the full Home Theater setup, but today I wanted to fix an old problem for not too much money.
Setup was very standard. The back has banana plug jacks for the speaker wires, but you can screw down bare cable ends if that's what you use. I have legacy Polk Audio Monitor 7 speakers and they mate up with this pretty well. There is 80 Watts/channel at 8 Ohms and that works well for speakers that go from 25 to 150 Watts. If you have the now standard speaker towers with sub-woofer, it will handle that OK too.
The sound is great. Good bass response, and a good number of inputs for the price. There is no digital input. There is no equalizer, only the standard bass/treble buttons on the front. (Can't adjust these from the remote control.) However, there is a spot to use add a preamp or equalizer in the back.
BTW...there are jumpers on the back to connect from the preamp out and main amp in, if you don't use a preamp. I wasn't getting any sound at first. After an hour of debugging, I figured out that the jumpers were on wrong. They connected left channel to right channel, instead of "out to in". Odd that it came that way.
Overall, it is what I was looking for, a decent tuner/amp that would allow me to enjoy my old vinyls again for under $300.
