  Summary: I've had this receiver one month now and I love it. For me third time was the charm. It was time to upgrade my 11 year old Sony STR-DE915 with a HDMI receiver to go with my PS3. I tried the Sony STR-DG720 and it sounded nice but did not have switched AC outlets so I went with the STR-DG910. I was not impressed with the power of that receiver at all. I did a lot of research after those two didn't work out and came across this receiver.
  
  I knew Yamaha made quality products so that wasn't my concern. I was mainly worried about the power ratings. Well I can tell you that I was worrying for no reason. This receiver has plenty of power, and clean power to boot. I know I have a bit of a redundancy in that this receiver decodes True HD and DTS-HD MA but my PS3 already decodes it into LPCM but I got a really good deal on this unit and I couldn't pass it up. The SCENE function is cool though I have not set mine yet and I like the way it automatically detects when I switch sources. I did not use the auto mic calibration, figured I'd set it by ear since that's the only mic that really counts. I just picked up my new 50" 1080p Panny plasma and the picture quality through this receiver is superb. By the way I'm NOT using overpriced/hyped monster cables. With a pair of $10 HDMI cables the picture is stunning and the TV info states a full 1080p signal.
  
  The bottom line is that this receiver is freakin' sweet. Plenty of power, nice HDMI switching, HD audio decoding, on screen display is a big plus. The only minus would be only two HDMI inputs but if that's all you need then do not hesitate in picking this bad boy up.

  Will eventually add on a proper HDMI Blu-ray player, but I am looking for DSD support via HDMI first, at a reasonable price.
  
  This receiver met all my needs in looking to upgrade and still support the new audio and video formats.
  
  Nice feature is upconversion, where it takes any incoming video signal and then will output it via HDMI to your TV. This let me drop my 3 Component cables and single basic video line going into the TV.
  
  It does not upscale (take a 480P signal and change it to 1080P ro example). This feature may be interesting, but probably good to look to buy a player that already upscales so the incoming signal to receiver is already in the format you need (My tv is only 720p).
  
  Great sound reproduction, the MID to high range is better than on my previous receiver. The bass may need some adjustment though as I have no sub-woofer.
  
  Use the YPAO speaker setup, it's easy to run and the receiver does output the menu options to your TV aa run setup. Found Out I managed to cross the center channell speaker wires and the red was where the black should have been and vice versa. The setup program caught error and receognized that I had no subwoofer.
  
  It could have more HDMI inputs, but I expect to purchase a switch box. I have too many gaming systems and will need extra hookups for networking anyways.
  
  HD Radio I can buys as and add-on, some receivers come with an HD Radio tuner.
  I don't listen to radio enough to care though.
  
  Definitely worth the buy, cheaper through some online retailers, but feel it's worth the $500.00.
