clean sound great price
by getadeal53 on September 11, 2010
Pros: Very clean natural sound. All settings are set to flat . Everything from Mozart to Hendrix sounds great and as mentioned the direct feature for decoding the DTS Master Audio is very dynamic. So check this out, or as Worf says, "You are without honor"
Cons: A little difficult to set up even with the instruction disc.
Summary: Best sounding amp for under 300.00 and i have had several to compare it to so jump in and you won't regret it, just "Make it so!"

It works pretty well i did it three times to get it just right. Set the memory guard and it won't let you change the settings accidentally. Had it for three days now and it impresses me every time i turn it on. Mated to mid-range system (sony 370 blu-ray, LG 46LD550, PSB Alpha speakers) this is a very nice addition and the cost performance factor is excellent.

Great economy choice for audiophiles
by Razzl on January 24, 2011
Pros: Sublime clear sound, straightforward controls, lotsa connections, solid build quality, "direct" button
Cons: inscrutable manual (and on cd), no ethernet connector, quirky eurostyle speaker wire clamps, old-school size and styling

Summary: This is a fabulous unit for the price--no, this is just a fabulous unit, period. I'm sure this is true of the whole line of these Yamaha AV receivers from top to bottom, but I fell in at this price point, and I'm very satisfied. If the quality of your musical sound is at the top of the list, you need to check this one out. The clarity and accuracy of the sound is stunning, and the "direct" button on the front of the unit shuts down all filtering to let you hear your source exactly the way it was recorded with no interpolation, a great feature. I hooked up an Ion turntable to listen to an old collection of vinyl and am blown away by the quality of the sound--no pops or hiss, you could swear you were listening to digital CD.
With all the connectors on the back I had no problem getting my blu-ray, tv, and cd units set up, but the manual can be a little inscrutable on some topics (like how to program the remote for other devices), and being on CD meant shuttling to the pc or printing out copy, not a fun task. I would have loved an ethernet connection for web media, but maybe that's on the pricier models. I'm not a fan of the old-school big black box design for all stand-alone receivers, but at least this one is tastefully done with a sleek shiny black metallic front. The eurostyle speaker wire clamps were actually a bit of a pain to use, unless you already have the intended banana plugs clipped on (but who uses those in the U S of A)? Once the technophile in the house figures out how to customize the input names and buttons there should be peace in the house with the technophobes who just want to push buttons to "make it go"...
I find no indication in the manual of any needed firmware upgrade, and haven't found anything not working yet, so I don't know what that's all about or how it would be done...
3D-Ready/TrueHD/DTS Master Audio/5.1 & all on a BUDGET!
by rcasanova--2008 on November 19, 2010
Pros: Fantastic Audio Sound, 5.1 Dolby Digital TrueHD, DTS Master Audio, Simple design, easy to navigate remote, 4 In/1 Out HDMI 1.4* (after firmware upgrade), HDMI pass-thru even with my devices turned off. Audio Channel Return, BUDGET! I got it for $299!
Cons: NONE, I can't find a single flaw with this Yahama RX-V467BL.

Summary: I just recently acquired this new RX-V467BL and let me tell you, I love it! Compared to my old Onkyo TX-SR600, audio on this is fantastic! I'm using the classic Energy Take system (mid 90's model) and I can tell a huge difference in sound quality. I'm playing Blu-Ray movies using the HDMI pass-thru and the picture and audio is flawless. I can definitely tell the difference with the PS3 using PCM lossless audio. It's much smaller than my previous Onkyo which is a plus. I only need 5.1 surround sound so it's perfect for my living room setup. I was testing out a few BD movies (Transporter 2, Crank) and the audio sounded soooo clean and crisp. Action scenes literally just POPPED out from all my speakers!!! The remote is nice and small and very intuitive and quite simply easy to use. I used the YPAO to calibrate my speakers...piece of cake! It was a toss up between this and the Denon AVR-591. I chose the Yamaha simply because I felt it offered more bang for the buck. Yeah..the Denon has iPod connectivity straight out of the box but who cares? I don't really need it! I can stream my entire iTunes library using my PS3 connected to my DLNA hard-drive hosting all of my music :-). If you get this, trust me you won't be disappointed. For the price, nothing can beat it. I used to own an old Yamaha RX series receiver like 12 years ago and the quality was great. This new RX-V467 has great build and feel solid and not cheap and flimsy in anyway. I'm really glad I went with this choice!
