Good player,Marker does not save your movie position!
by noels777 on July 15, 2009
Pros: This product is great interfacing with Netflix online, does a pretty good job at up converting DVDs
Cons: Slow load times on blue rays. And worst of all the "marker" button does not save your position on Blue Ray Discs.

Summary: worst of all the "marker" button does not save your position on Blue Ray Discs. What this means, is everytime you turn off your movie half way through, you need to watch the trailers AGAIN!! and search for your position :(I called LG support, and they said the the Blue Ray Disc manufacturers disabled the marker feature on many new releases!! So in translation....my $90 DVD player has more functionality than this $250 dollar player. Who wants to search through the movie and be forced to watch trailers?

Summary: The Cnet Australia review stated that the player can play movie files off of a USB flash drive. This was one of the main reasons that I bought the player, and this doesnt work with the player bought in the US. Hopefully this is activated after a firmware upgrade, adding the ability to play files off of a usb flash drive will be a great addition tot he feature set. Good but could be much better
by mountainblu on February 3, 2011
Pros: Mostly solid Blu-ray player. Has Netflix and Youtube. Decent price. Nice interface. Good beginner unit.
Cons: Would not play Toy Story 3 and Ice Age 3.(but has played everything else) Could not update firmware through internet so had to request firmware upgrade by mail (Customer Service did send CD within 4 days) Really wish unit had Pandora.
Summary: A decent buy but probably hard to find now. I have owned for one year so I can say it has been reliable. I'm ready to upgrade for a ...

Decent player, and cheap, but not dependable.
by ocarinaz64 on January 30, 2011
Pros: It plays blu-rays, and it doesn't cost a fortune. I also found the Netflix capability very handy.
Cons: DVDs don't work for me. I got a firmware update, and it just doesn't go. It's not that big of a deal, since my computers can play DVDs no problem, but it is one of the features I was looking for when I bought it.
Summary: I'd steer away from this product, as I have (now) read plenty of bad reviews of this player. It seems pretty unstable and problematic.

Great Player Plays everything
by sdesabrais on December 18, 2010
Pros: DivX MP4 via USB drive and key, Fast Reading (10 secs for DVD [non-bluray])
Cons: Had issues with YouTube and USB drive reading (both fixed)
Summary: USB drive has to be formatted as FAT32 so used software called Fat32Formatter 1.0 to format. Plays Divx and MP4 with no issues. Changed router and You Tube works ...

Great player, fast and dynamic... While it works
by jbruiser99 on November 8, 2010
Pros: Great video quality, cool features, affordable
Cons: Experience shows that the player dies after various firmware updates or after a few months of average use.

Summary: I must say that while it worked, I was extremely please with the quality and features of this blu-ray player. It does have a netfilx feature which is very handy if you are use such things (I do). The option to view youtube videos and other similar things using the player is a very cool addition by the folks at LG. This being said, I must share my disdain for the product and LG as a company. About 8 months after buying my blu-ray player, everything is going great and all of a sudden, it stops playing regular dvds then stops playing blu-rays as well.
Thought maybe it was a firmware problem and that updating may solve it. Updated successfully and the player started playing blu-rays again but will not play dvds. Called up LG customer support and they said that the parts are covered under warranty but not the labor... bummer. LG says I can send in the player and for $69 plus shipping they will fix it, with out any extended warranty. I realize this whole incident may be an isolated one but in reading reviews online it seems that more people than normal are having this problem with this model and similar LG models.
My advice, stay away from this model and it may be a good idea to steer clear of LG all together. -

On-Line viewing is great (after updating).
by mikey533 on January 30, 2010
Pros: Ease of use is a major pro. The online Netflix viewing is fantastic. Picture quality is good for Netflix, but I wouldn't say great.
Cons: Universal remotes that came with my Time Warner cable have a hard time with all the features, but this is not a failing of the player!
Summary: Great product that I strongly recommend. Ensure the firmware updates are done right away. After that it is a zero hassle item.

Great Player - USB = Achilles heel
by ncalsurfer on January 19, 2010
Pros: Love Blu-ray quality, fast boot time, you tube, and streaming video capability
Cons: U.S. firmware BLOCKS ability to play any movies through the USB port. Canadian and European versions have this capability, but NOT the U.S. This fatal flaw means you can't view any of the great family movies you have on your computer! #FAIL
Summary: If you have a Netflix or CinemaNow account, I would say this is a great buy especially when its on sale for ~$120. However, if you want to play movies ...
Summary: If you have a Netflix or CinemaNow account, I would say this is a great buy especially when its on sale for ~$120. However, if you want to play movies through the USB port - DO NOT BUY! I spoke with LG customer service and their best response is "our BD 390 player is the upgraded version and has this capability." Buyer Beware!
