The good: The LG BD670 has built-in Wi-Fi and an excellent suite of streaming-media services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Vudu, MOG, Napster, and vTuner. The user interface for its streaming-media service content portal is also top-notch, making it a good choice for nontechies.
The bad: The LG BD670 has slower-than-average disc-loading speeds and lacks onboard memory for accessing BD-Live features.
The bottom line: Despite disc-loading speeds that are just average, the LG BD670's built-in Wi-Fi and excellent streaming-media suite make it one of the best Blu-ray player values.

worst product i have ever bought
by cpp3rd on December 10, 2011
Pros: none at all
Cons: broke very quickly (would not play blu ray disks) but since i had for more than 90 days, not covered by warranty. shocking that a brand new item is covered for so little by manufacturer. these have a high failure rate. do not buy an lg blu player,

Streaming services would not work out of the box.

Cons: Firmware update took multiple attempts.
Premium application function for streaming services would not load.

Summary: Will not buy LG again, quality control and customer service are a joke. I was a cable tech and installer and am very comfortable around AV equipment. When I first booted up the player it was quick to connect to my wired network but it took two tries to get the firmware to update. Then when trying to access the streaming services in order to set up Netflix I would hang in a black screen for several minutes before returning me to the home screen. I called LG Support and the support tech sounded half asleep. After walking me through a simple reset (which I had already tried) which did not work their next answer was that the player would need to be sent to them for service. I will be returning the player to the store and will be looking for a more reliable brand.

Easy Setup, was watching YouTube and NetFlix in 15 min.
by LesMiner on October 13, 2011
Pros: After reading several reviews for several systems on several sites, the reviews on CNET sold me on this unit. I had it out of the box, updated all the software (do this via a wired connection for best results), and was watching NetFlix in less than 15 mi
Cons: The WebApps are limited with promisies of updates "soon".

Summary: A good purchase so far. My main concern was watching NetFlix which I was able to do in quick order. I've not had the opportunity to test the Blu-Ray feature itself, but everything else is working as advertised (and reviewed). Once the burn-in process is complete I may purchase another one for the family room.

Summary: Needed immediate firmware upgrade right out of box to correct audio glitch at chapter breaks when playing DVDs. Began to encounter 'disk errors' and noted drive grinding and clunking after less than 30 days of use. Returned to vendor for refund. Will consider different brand. Too bad quality and reliability is so poor as this LG unit had the right combination of features. Unfortunately I do not have the time, patience, or inclination to get on the revolving returns bus in the hopes of eventually cherry picking a 'good' unit.

Redefining Crap

Summary: Haven't updated since a 2008 Panasonic player, and I thought I'd see if 1. Image quality has been improved on with newer players, and 2. Wanted to check out the streaming options. Set up was very easy, and it recognized my home WiFi connection in seconds. As far as image quality, no appreciable difference over my 2008 player, not that that's faulting the LG in any way. When I tried to access the "Premium" content to load Apps such as MLB.TV, there was a mandatory software update, which I accepted (ss I had no choice). It told me "update failed" and reset the system. When I turned it on it offered me a software update which I accepted, and then again told me the update failed. I attempted to access the Premium menu, and it was stuck on the load screen indefinitely. So, Literally 5 minutes into owning the player I realized that 1. Image quality was no better than it was in 2008, and 2. This thing will crash at a seconds notice. I'd seen enough, and took it straight back to where I got it. I'm sticking with my 2008 player for now, but if I were to upgrade to a modern WiFi Streaming Blu Ray player, it sure as hell wouldn't be this one.

Disappointing: Lots of bugs
by kjscsc on June 18, 2011
Pros: Lightweight, low-profile body. Easy user interface.
Cons: Skips while playing standard DVDs and audio CDs. Flickers during night time scenes while playing Blu-ray movies. Struggled somewhat with Netflix setup. Shows my network SID twice. Very slow blu-ray loading.

Summary: The first DVD I played was an exercise video. The LG skipped several times during the course of the workout. I played the video more than once and the LG player repeatedly skipped.
During night scenes in both 'True Grit' and 'I Am Number Four' the video flickered between darker and lighter settings. Very disconcerting.
I played a few audio CDs and at least two of them had problems with skipping.
Every time I turn it on, I have to reset my network connection to get connected to my home network. Also, when it searches for SIDs, it shows my SID twice (which led me to believe that someone was trying to 'social engineer' me or some other such scam).
I have a Sony Playstation 3 that I've used for nearly three years and I've never had these problems. This model is inferior to it so I'll probably be exchanging it for a second PS3.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Junk + Lousy Customer Service = 1/2 Star

Summary: I am not a heavy at home movie renter/watcher but I wanted a decent quality Blu-ray/DVD player. Did my research online and took a chance on LG. In June of 2011, the reviews were favorable for the BD670 but reviewers cautioned that LG's customer service left something to be desired. First 10 months of use, I only watched DVD's. The unit made a lot of noise loading the disc but would eventually get it loaded and would playback fine. In January of 2012 I thought, "Hey, I have a blu-ray player, why not rent a Blu-ray disc?" Big mistake. The BD670 simply would not recognize or read the disc. Maybe it is a bad disc I thought. So I took it back to the rental store and swapped it for the only other disc they had of the same film, a DVD. It worked fine. Rented another blu-ray in February from Redbox. Same problem. Immediately called LG customer service, waited on hold for more than an hour and then got an answer/hangup. Decided to go to bed angry and try the next day. Forgot about returning movie and calling LG. March 6, 2012 I finally get around to calling LG again. Talked to Eny (spelling?) in Customer Service after much waiting. Seems I have two choices: (a) I can ship unit to LG, their cost, and be without it for 2-4 weeks at which time they may fix it or send me a refurbished unit (aka someone else's broken a__ unit that they allegedly fixed); or (b) I can take it to a local area authorized repair shop where the parts will be warrantied but I will have to pay shop's going labor rate. Both lousy options. So I ask to speak to a supervisor. Guess what? There are none available! Supervisors are only available M-F from 8-5 EST. I surrendered! LG had defeated me. I would resign myself to only being able to watch regular DVD's. Blu-rays and 3D discs would just be something other people could do. May 12, 2013. Just under one year and eleven months from the cursed day I bought and installed my LG player, the BD670 gave up the ghost entirely. Given the sounds coming out of the player you would have thought it was chewing and swallowing the DVD I put in it. Happilly that was not the case. This weekend my wife and I are taking it out into the street in front of our house and going all "Office Space fax machine" on it. LG supposedly stands for "Life's Good." I say LG stands for "Lousy Goods!"

Disc player crashed after playing 10 DVDs.

Summary: I ignored negative reviews - "clunking, grinding in disc player" and bought this in mid-summer. By fall the player, hardly used, couldn't hole a screen format and flipped back and forth between wide-screen and normal with each scene change ( but never clunked). Customer service for LG is good; they diagnosed problem on phone and offered repair for $69 (labor). No thanks. LG should stick to refrigerators.
