The good: The LG BD670 has built-in Wi-Fi and an excellent suite of streaming-media services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Vudu, MOG, Napster, and vTuner. The user interface for its streaming-media service content portal is also top-notch, making it a good choice for nontechies.
The bad: The LG BD670 has slower-than-average disc-loading speeds and lacks onboard memory for accessing BD-Live features.
The bottom line: Despite disc-loading speeds that are just average, the LG BD670's built-in Wi-Fi and excellent streaming-media suite make it one of the best Blu-ray player values.

Don't buy this unit if you want to stream Netflix.

Pros: Can't think of any....
Cons: The reviewer has made the case for not buying this unit if you intend to stream Netflix.

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD PLAYER!

Summary: This DVD player was an absolute waste of money. I should have listened to the user reviews instead of the CNET review. I made a massive mistake. We specifically bought this to stream Netflix, and it only works around 10% of the time. It also frequently will not play DVDs -- as in, it will play a disc one day, then won't play it the next day, then will the day after, etc. There is nothing wrong with our Internet; our computers stream Netflix in the same room just fine. After a month, when we realized that this DVD player was not going to work for us, I called LG and tried to return it, and they refused to let me, even though I was within the warranty period. They insisted that the issue was with our Internet, which it is not. PLEASE do not buy this player. You will regret it.

Streaming is a disaster.
by SheckyS on March 28, 2012
Pros: Plays Blu-Ray and DVD's fine.
Cons: There are severe problems with the streaming for NetFlix. I experience constant issues with lockups that are so bad even the power button on the machine does not work and I have to physically pull the plug to get it to respond.
Summary: If you want to watch streaming videos through NetFlix, don't even think about it.

Great performance and set up followed by total failure.

Pros: Excellent up-converts and blue-ray and 3D images. Easy set up.
Cons: Absolute worst reliability I've encountered in audio-visual gear.

Summary: Nice features but cheap manufacture. When this unit works, the visual images and upconverting was nothing short of stunning. However, the unit is cheaply made and began refusing to respond to commands (from remote or on-board controls) within four months and by six months had completely failed to work at all! Going back to Best Buy today and buying the Oppo unit the salesman had recommended from the beginning! This is my first and last LG product.

Purchase the BD670 for a Christmas 2011.
by Pixelterror on February 11, 2012
Pros: Plays DVD's, Bluray's and wi-fi to laptop.
Cons: Very poor for watching Netflix if it will connect at all IE: pixelated, blurry, sound lag, extreemly slow interface, very poor interface for searching. Aps are slow to load and hag most of the time. Since I have had the player, rebooted 5 times.
Summary: Now the BD670 is mainly used for the bluray and accessing my computer. No help from Netflix and no help from LG.

Summary: When I bought this player in mid December 2011 the first thing I did once I had it powered on and connected to the internet was update the firmware. I don't know if that made a difference in my players performance / functionality compared to the others but I haven't had any of the problem the other reviewers are having with their units. Maybe I just got lucky. Time will tell. So far though I'm very happy with it.

Whren you call the customer service, rather than helping they will treat you like you dont know anything about restart and all. Skips frequently and then audio out of sync with video!
by EdHamaty on June 19, 2011
Pros: Good picture quality.
Cons: Slow disc loading. Skips during movie playback. When the skip occurs, the audio is completely out of sync with the video. Requires pausing or stopping and restarting to resync. That completely destroys the immersive environment that my home theater wa

Summary: I purchsed this unit a week ago as I was leaving for out of town. The package came bashed in and the contents inside were dented as well. When I returned form out of town I requested a replacement. Before I even had a chance to go return the 1st unit my second one came via UPS. (KUDOS to Amazon. Always a pleasureto do busines with them!).
So this evening I set up the 2nd unit which was a breez. The 1st thing I noticed was that the unit produces a hum. Not too loud but "loud enough to be heard while the unit is on!" Probably from the power supply? I then put in an audio CD just to see the audio quality of the DACS since this is something that's usually not mentioned. CD's sounded reasonably good although I didn't get a chance to to an A/B comparison with my esoteric CD stand alone unit. Again, the sound was reasonably good while listening to a few songs on a standard CD.
I then put in 2 standard DVD's to check out the video quality and Upsampling quality. As far as I can tell, there is no difference "whatsoever" between this Blue Ray player with standard DVD upsampling capabilities vs. a standard DVD player. None whatsoever!
I then went into the main menu to check out the streaming capabilities via my WIFI. The menu is easy to understand and has large icons. I went to The Weather Channel and set up my city to see how that performed. It worked flawless, HOWEVER", when you're not on The Weather Channel it shows the temperature in the upper left hand corner of the monitor in Celsius not degrees! On The Weather Channel it shows in degrees. Weird.
Now for the real test. My Netflix account. I've been on Netflix for a year now and stream everything via my laptop. This is why I purchased this unit, to stream Netflix onto my large HD monitor. Well folks, UNFORTUNATELY, that where the problems began. Won't stream. Keeps on buffering and buffering and buffering. Not on my laptop but on this unit using the same WIFI network.
With that said, both units are going back! I'm either going to look at the Panasonic now or bag it altogether? Maybe buy a new Macbook Pro, IMac or a new IPad and just connect the IPad to my monitor. At least it'll work! And, a Mac fan I'm not, but if it works, it works!0 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: can any of you believe i got calls from people who bought this product and, while they're looking at the front of the bluray player, they asked me "where's the usb-port on this thing? i don't see it.." and "where's the 'input'-button on the remote?", and "i connected my bluray player to the wall. and it's not working. i have it connected. and it's not working. i don't know what i'm doing wrong" (and on one customer, it turned out she didn't even have the darn thing connected to the tv. on another customer, she DID have the darn thing connected to the tv, but she DIDN'T have the tv on the correct input beforehand. and on still another, she didn't even have the bluray player turned on. and on even STILL another, she didn't have the TV turned on!
