good value for the $$ Be sure to update the firmware.
by steve15--2008 on June 8, 2010
Pros: Nice upscaling quality. Fast booting for Blue-ray playback.
Cons: it's wireless ready, but the usb dongle is pricey.
Summary: Excellent value, very happy with the player. I'm not sure what the other review is complaining about. I had no issues.

Firmware update wipes out Netflix
by keithatcnet on November 23, 2010
Pros: Just about everything until the unit told me to update the firmware to v1.43
Cons: Updating the firmware to v1.43 (released 11/22/2010) makes Netflix inaccessible. Worked great before.
Summary: I WAS very pleased with this unit until yesterday when it insisted I update the firmware to v1.43. The update was quick (I use the Ethernet connection to my ...
Summary: I WAS very pleased with this unit until yesterday when it insisted I update the firmware to v1.43. The update was quick (I use the Ethernet connection to my 30Mb/s TimeWarner cable modem). But now it will no longer access Netflix. Panasonic service (800-211-7262) line is constantly busy, no doubt from the thousands of other BD65 owners wanting a fix, and their e-mail contact form just dumps you out with a "server overload" error.
I, and no doubt many many others, will be returning my BD65 to the store. I'll instead get the Sony S370 that Best Buy and Target will have for $99 on Black Friday.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Not worth the money.
by Talon532 on April 13, 2010
Pros: It did not lock up...that's it.
Cons: The image quality is terrible! I have a Pioneer DVD player, that up-converts a DVD better than this did with a Blu Ray!
Summary: Poor remote...maddeningly close buttons caused me to have to restart the movie twice, after hitting the button that was too close to a menu button. The picture was impossible ...
Summary: Poor remote...maddeningly close buttons caused me to have to restart the movie twice, after hitting the button that was too close to a menu button. The picture was impossible to get right, and even though it is a Blue Ray disc, my Pioneer DVD player...(yes I said DVD) up-converts a DVD to a better picture than this. I spent a ton of time playing with the video settings on my TV, and the player....but the results were very disappointing.

Panasonic BD65 w/hiccups
by nwberean on August 31, 2011
Pros: Interchangeable controls w/my Panasonic Plasma TV and VCR.
Cons: When playing a BD disc it will stop multiple times as if it runs out of memory. Have to manipulate the controls to get it restarted (usually not in the same place it stops). Frustrating.
Summary: Would not buy this model again as this is the worst Panasonic product I've ever owned.

Very good value for the price!
by run2jazz22 on January 8, 2011
Pros: Easy to set up and I enjoy the quality.
Cons: You have to buy the Wireless adapter to use this feature which is about $80.00 with tax. Sometimes the downloads are not as complete as for almost 4 days I did not have access to Netflix.
Summary: Good value and I enjoy watching movies on Netflix and Youtube.
