The good: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210 has built-in Wi-Fi, a simple user interface, and an excellent suite of streaming-media services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Vudu, Pandora, Skype, and CinemaNow. The DMP-BDT210 also has the fastest overall disc-loading speeds we've tested. And though its "touch-free" disc tray opener is a little gimmicky, we found it occasionally useful.
The bad: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210 has fewer overall streaming services than some competitors, missing some high-profile services like Hulu Plus and MLB.TV. It also lacks onboard memory for accessing BD-Live features.
The bottom line: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210's built-in Wi-Fi, simple user interface, Amazon Instant streaming, and blazing fast disc-loading speeds make it our favorite Blu-ray player of 2011 so far.

Issues fixed- great product

Summary: I read all the negative comments but also the positive and took a chance. Bought it Saturday on Amazon for $160.22 with free shipping. Firured if the Netflix wouldn't work I'd put it back in the box and return. It arrived this morning. Plugged it in to the retired player's HDMI cable and to the existing ethernet cable and everything worked like a charm. It immediately updated a new firmware- 1.65 (I think.) Prompted me for e-mail and password on Netflix and got on to the site no problem. Maybe the 1.65 is the fix. Haven't tried and other features but it does load blue rays faster than my old one. I'm a happy camper!

Very flaky with Netflix.
by rdunsirn on June 13, 2011
Pros: + Plays blu-rays very fast
+ Dual HDMI is awesome for my configuration (older stereo with the newer blu-ray audio standards, but no 1080p pass-through)Cons: - Netflix streaming is flaky. Everything was working fine, then tonight I was unable to get into the Netflix streaming service. It kept saying "unable to connect at this time...error 100" even though the rest of my devices had no problems. I kept tryin

Summary: I am hoping this device will get better as they fix the Netflix issues and hopefully some of the web content user interface slowness (I wish development teams would put more time into performance and less time into making things look pretty). For blu-ray playing, it works great and the dual HDMI is nice...however, without Netflix working, I am going to return it for something else.

Pros: Picture quality is great. No problems with Netflix after applying 1.63 firmware.
Cons: Some of the setup options could have been explained better in the owner's manual.

EXCELLENT !!! No problem here.
by erherrer on June 12, 2011
Pros: As usual, I check user reviews before I buy anything electronic. I wanted a Blu-Ray with Netflix capabilities as well as other access. I preferred Panasonic to match my big screen. When I saw all the reviews slamming this player, I thought "there's just n
Cons: I wish the remote buttons were better situated. When trying to arrow up I have many times hit the Viera Cast button as it seems to be so close together.

Summary: I read some good reviews about this player after doing a lot of research and decided to purchase it. It was my first bluray player. The problem I had was connecting to the internet. It would find my wireless but the connection to gateway would always fail. I called Panasonic and they were very rude on the phone, I'm not a dumb person when it comes to technology but the guy said to me, "obviously you are doing something wrong." Um, no I'm not. I also called my router and they did everything in their power to get it to connect from unsecuring the network to changing the router settings but no luck. I even plugged it in via ethernet and it still wouldn't work. I do like this player otherwise but I want to be able to connect to the internet. I am going to go with a Sony or Samsung instead with better customer service.

Summary: I purchase this three months ago and wanted to use it a bit before doing a review. This was purchased to replace a seldom-used Samsung that would do no more than open and shut its tray. I do not have 3D TV, but I purchased this anyway because most reviews have been positive. My main concern was how well it streamed video because I wanted to get Netflix. I delayed getting Netflix because my wireless network was only a G. Finally just went for it and got Netflix. I could not be happier with this players performance. I only had to enter my User ID and password for Netflix one time. This player is now used daily. The wireless connection performs very well with NO lags. This even includes when more than one device is accessing Netflix at the same time.
The loading and starting of movie playback is fast, especially when compared to my previous player . To date I have no complaints on this player.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great BR player, but DLNA & Viera services are limited
by sdrob92124 on May 30, 2011
Pros: The motion sensor open/close door is a nice touch. The Blu-Ray player picture is really when playing BR movies. The menu screen is easy to navigate and the remote buttons, including shortcuts for Netflix are nice touches as well. No problem whatsover
Cons: Device says its DLNA compliant and it does see my server info, but can only show photos and play music, it can't play video (at least not avi, wmv, mp4's). It did play VOB and supposedly can play mpeg-4, but who uses that file type?? I really needed i

Summary: As a stand-alone blu-ray player this is pretty good and does load pretty fast, but the DLNA and Viera services are very limited. Most DLNA services play wmv and avi files and many of the other products with Viera contain Hulu. Seems like something Panasonic should be looking to fix in a firmware update. No problems on my end with Netflix at all, as a matter of fact it was easier to setup than other services which required logging into a home computer and getting a passcode from Netflix to transfer to the device... for the Panasonic, just needed username and password once and I was set. Ultimately, I'm probably going to return this though because I need Hulu Plus and DLNA service that streams movies properly. Sony's devices do this without a problem, so I may have to switch back to them (even though their interface isn't as nice as Panasonic's).

Terrific!!! I'm so glad I bought this player!
by Trick32 on May 12, 2011
Pros: Played terrific right out of the box. It hooked up to my wifi without any problems, and from there I did a firmware upgrade which took less than a minute. All of the included apps worked flawlessly out of the box. I did have one small problem with sign
Cons: The only problem I encountered was because this item was an "open-boxed" purchase from Best Buy (I saved $60, what can I say). I even saved on the extended 2 year warranty because it was bought at a lower price point. Whoever returned this, didn't do a

Summary: Overall, I think this is the best player you can buy. If you want a player that will load your BD content very quickly and has great playback output, take a serious look at this player. The 3D playback on my Panasonic plasma looks terrific and 2D looks phenomenal. Once logged in properly, the Netflix app works as it's supposed to. I haven't experienced any buffering or reloading of movies. All in all, I'm very happy I made this purchase and I don't have any regrets.

Netflix does not work as advertised
by jetcitynewton on May 24, 2011
Pros: Size, speed of accessing media faster than others, cool eject feature

Summary: I bought this to replace a Samsung blu-ray player that bit the dust as soon as the warranty expired, but that's another story. Set up was easy and I was very happy with this player until I tried netflix. The player was online, and able to "see" my netflix queu, but when I tried to stream a movie it didn't work. I am able to stream movies from another device in a different room of the house, so I knew it wasn't netflix. I read another review on cnet who had the same problem. I contact customer support and we went through the motions of fixing (checking firmware version, making sure player was connected to internet, unplugging, etc.) but nothing fixed it. He said he was escalating my problem to another department and that I would hear back within 72 hours, but no call ever came. I exchanged it for a Sony, which seems to work fine.

Still does NOT work with Netflix
by obellal on May 19, 2011

Nice user interface
Good remote control

Summary: Had I read the review comments of other customers (Netflix issue) I wouldn't have bought this player. Will return it tomorrow and get another brand. The player is excellent except for this major issue. Panasonic Support suggested the following procedure but it didn't work for me:
1- Remove all the titles in their Netflix Instant Queue account
2- then select 5 titles to add to the Instant Queue.
3- After you have done so -Power the player off.
4- Unplug the modem, router's, and/or gateway's power cord for 10 seconds then plug the power cords back in.
5- Wait until the modem, router's, and/or gateway's LED indicators are all lit solid.
6- Power the player on.
7- Wait 2 minutes then try to access the VieraCast Application
8- After accessing the Viera Cast application, wait 30 seconds then try to access Netflix
9- Attempt to play a title from the Instant Queue and indicate whether this was successful or not.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
