The good: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210 has built-in Wi-Fi, a simple user interface, and an excellent suite of streaming-media services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Vudu, Pandora, Skype, and CinemaNow. The DMP-BDT210 also has the fastest overall disc-loading speeds we've tested. And though its "touch-free" disc tray opener is a little gimmicky, we found it occasionally useful.
The bad: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210 has fewer overall streaming services than some competitors, missing some high-profile services like Hulu Plus and MLB.TV. It also lacks onboard memory for accessing BD-Live features.
The bottom line: The Panasonic DMP-BDT210's built-in Wi-Fi, simple user interface, Amazon Instant streaming, and blazing fast disc-loading speeds make it our favorite Blu-ray player of 2011 so far.

Good, Cheap, Works. Critical Reviews are Out of Date.
by daehttub2000 on April 23, 2012
Pros: Cheap. Works. No issues. Nifty no button "wave of the hand" to open/close player. Very elegant and slim space saving device.
Cons: Needs good high speed internet wifi signal to work. Sensitive to WiFi modem issues with too many wifi devices.

Summary: Does everything expected of it. The critical reviews are out of date and any problems I had were related to terrible AT&T DSL and 2Wire Modem issues. I purchased this for Christmas 2011 and it performed a firmware update as soon as it was connected to the internet. Netflix and Hulu Plus works like a charm. I do have AT&T DSL and 2WIRE Modem issues related to my 5 wifi devices (not counting guests with smartphones using my wifi) plus this BluRay player. Anytime I get a screen flicker or connection issue, I just unplug my 2WIRE modem to reset it and everything works fine. I have to monitor my internet connection with Speedtest.net to determine the next modem reset. I'm guessing that the bad reviews were either related to old firmware issues or just bad internet/wifi issues. I have a lot of computers running in the house and guests that access my wifi for their smartphones.
CONS: Can't use this for Skype without buying expensive proprietary Panasonic webcam.

Lousy WI-FI Connectivity and WORST customer service
by Bermwood on April 20, 2012
Pros: Nice user interface
Cons: Frequent skips or stops during playback of BluRay discs.
Despite 2 firmware updates, the WiFi could not connect to a powerful signal.
Countless calls to tech support & customer service resulted in me throwing the unit into the street to be run over,Summary: If I payed myself minimum wage, with the time I spent with deplorable customer service, I could have paid for the damn thing!
I will NEVER buy another Panasonic product. ...Summary: If I payed myself minimum wage, with the time I spent with deplorable customer service, I could have paid for the damn thing!

If you really want to stream from Netflix then move on.
by JPReview on March 28, 2012
Pros: Decent image quality with discs, and with streaming when it's not flashing black.
Cons: Still can't stream Netflix as of February 2012 even with the latest firmware download. Lay out of remote is not very functional as it is far to easy to hit a button that shuts down streaming when you meant to use the toggle.

Summary: I've been a loyal reader of CNET (and ZDNet) for over 20 years and wouldn't make an electronics purchase without checking their site first. A primary driver for me in getting a new Blu Ray player (the old Sony works fine) was to get Wi-Fi streaming access in general but primarily to Netflix. I had read the well documented reports of other users regarding "black flashing" problems with this unit and Netflix which was primarily attributed to a firmware glitch. I purchased this player in February 2012, confident that any firmware issues were surely resolved by then. Sadly, that's not so. If, like me, you really want this unit to be able to view Netflix, please move on. The first thing I did upon hooking up the player was to download the latest firmware. It didn't help. About halfway through the first movie I was watching there were the "black flashes". They were not for several seconds as some have described but were more similar to "jutter" when the refresh rate on the TV is not fast enought to keep up with the action except instead of stuttering images the screen goes completely black for about the length of time it takes to blink your eyes. Maybe not everyone notices it. I know others watching with me did not notice it until I started to point it out but it's really evident to my eyes. I viewed several movies and programs for a couple of weeks and it never got better. Note, this does not happen with Netflix streamed to my Dell laptop OR with Netflix streamed to the Samsung BD-6500 that I replaced the Panasonic unit with. Else, this Panasonic unit is decent. Set up isn't difficult and the streaming image quality and disc quality is good, though the Samsung is better. I don't know why the Panasonic has a problem with Netflix but if that's why you want it you'll be disappointed.

Quick and easy to use!

Pros: Fast and efficient player; connects to the internet really fast.
Cons: Remote control buttons need backlighting.

Netflix issues. Other than that it's alright.
by pixel41 on February 4, 2012
Pros: fine playing a bluray.
Cons: Has black flickers when playing Netflix. Usually two in a row. I've got a top notch Linksys E4200 and have verified on the bluray player that it's receiving a N wifi signal, with all bars.
Also, the handsfree opener is annoying.
DisappointingSummary: If you want Netflix, DO NOT buy this.

I will never again buy anything panasonic/technics!
by Reboot1974 on January 14, 2012
Pros: Err, err uhm eh hmm oh it comes with a plug and the box looked nice!
Cons: Well just about everything, impossible to setting up the network drive facility, dlna streaming is awful for films.

Summary: After a week of trying to set this up to play through a network drive because this hunk of junk will not send decent quality over dlna, I eventually snapped and bounced this junk off my floor repeatedly. I have never before felt fury like it and hope to never again. Because of this player I will not have blu ray in my house EVER!
If you have a computer science degree and hang around with Stephen Hawkings by all means this may be the player for you, if like me your just an average family man putting together a home cinema system STEER WELL CLEAR or go back to dvd as this player made me do!
Possibly the release of over a weeks frustrations including at least 15 e-mails to panasonic (which were never answered) and trawling the internet for answers may have actually been worth the £180 I paid the relief of flinging this junk in the bin was absolutely fantastic!
It was actually the 310 I bought but they are both the same apart from the extra hdmi port.

Flickering Netflix...Why hasn't this been fixed?
by deeprop789 on January 10, 2012
Pros: Easy set up. Found wireless network quickly. Had Netflix playing in ten minutes.
Cons: Netflix interface is great. Comparable to Playstation 3 which I'm familiar with. Right from the start, however, every few minutes the screen flickers and goes black. The picture comes right back but it's extremely annoying.

Summary: Got this at Costco for a good price..40 bucks off promotion with net price of $129.99. After reading about the Netflix issues dating back 6 months or more, I figured Panasonic would have corrected the issues by now. I guess not. Not even bothering with calling Support. I'm returning this after two days and getting a Roku. I can't comment on the BD performance, etc. Primary purchase was for NF streaming. I took a chance and I was wrong. Looking forward to a painless return at Costco. Can't wait to plug in the Roku. I haven't seen one BD player reviewed that doesn't have issues of some kind with internet streaming/interface.

Didn't work for me
by dgraichen on January 8, 2012
Pros: Spent 2 hours trying to link to my wireless network.
Cons: Would not recognize my network despite 5 bars signal strength. Shouldn't be this difficult!

Summary: I bought this yesterday based on CNET review. Returned it today and replaced it with a ROKU 2 XD since I didn't really need another blue ray player. The ROKU was up and running in 10 minutes with no hassles. Since I couldn't get the Panasonic to work in my system, can't really comment on picture quality etc.

Summary: This is one great Blu-Ray player for the money. I have no interest in 3D, but the other features convinced me to go for it. My family has been watching Netflix on our Wii, but with 2 tvs we needed another source. I do regret the lack of HULU streaming, but not much else. The load time is MUCH shorter than my old Blu-Ray, the picture is great and I don't know what is going on with other reviewers, but I've watched hours of Netflix without a hitch. If you need a Blu-Ray player you can't do much better than this.

Netflix refuses to work, nice blu-ray player.
by rambro55 on December 24, 2011
Pros: Blu-ray picture looks fantastic. This part of this device works very well. Opening the Blu ray disk door by waving your hand is fun. User interface is relatively simple. Setting up wireless internet access was insanely easy.
Cons: We bought this primarily to play disks, but netflix streaming was a strong second purpose. Cannot get this feature to work no matter what we do. We have the latest firmware as of late December 2011.
Summary: There are many, many reports of netflix problems with this unit, but I thought that wouldn't happen to us. Wrong! If you want to use netflix streaming don't ...
