The good: The Panasonic DMP-BDT220 has built-in Wi-Fi, 3D compatibility, and the Viera Connect suite of streaming-media services, which includes Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant, Pandora, and Vudu. The user interface for the streaming-media apps is straightforward, plus you can jump right to Netflix with the dedicated Netflix button on the remote. There are a few other minor perks, including Skype compatibility, a front-panel SD card slot, and a superfast quick-start mode.
The bad: Viera Connect doesn't support any subscription music services (like MOG, Rdio, or Spotify) nor does it have Flixster for UltraViolet support. The DMP-BDT220 also doesn't play back DivX or Xvid files.
The bottom line: The Panasonic DMP-BDT220 is the best Blu-ray value of 2012, with built-in Wi-Fi, tons of streaming-media apps, 3D compatibility, and a simple user interface.

No wireless internet just local wireless connection
by tankshermy on February 2, 2013
Pros: I bought this for the one thing that doesn't work.

Summary: Bought this at Costco which was mistake #1 - I probably have more electronic returns to Costco than all other stores combined. Walked through the automatic wireless internet set up which got me a LAN connection but no internet. read all the bad reviews and could not find an ethernet cord long enough to connect wired and figured it was an omen of continued trouble, interrupted connections as I have read others having. Returned to retailer.

Mine was a lemon.
by Bashiba on January 21, 2013
Pros: None, avoid this and buy something else.
Cons: Couldn't even play a blue ray, continually stuttered and stopped with discs that play perfectly fine in my Sony player. If it can't do the one thing it was designed to do how it does anything else is pretty pointless.
Summary: I let Cnet's review of this talk me into buying it as I was needing a 3D blue ray player, well it wouldn't even play 2d blue rays ...
Summary: I let Cnet's review of this talk me into buying it as I was needing a 3D blue ray player, well it wouldn't even play 2d blue rays let alone 3d. I thought maybe I just had a lemon and then I started reading all the bad reviews on Amazon, seems to be a lot of these out there that are lemons, so I figured why chance another dud, sent it back and ordered a Sony instead. I just made two home theater purchases both of which I consulted Cnet on, this one I followed their advice and it went terribly. On my tv I went against their advice and couldn't be happier.

Upon initial ...Summary: I did my research and found that for "budget" players, this one rank #1. I would not rate this among any of the top players after my experience.
Upon initial set-up, the player forced a Firmware Update...Great....if it would actually complete. I tried at least 8 times to update the firmware and the percentage completed was as follows: 8%,5%,5%,10%,24%,42%,78%,12%
I adjusted the internet settings and went from the built-in Wifi, to Wired, with same results. I went to the product's support Online Chat 3 times to receive messages that I was waiting for someone to respond. The best help I received was through consumer Blogs that had nothing to do with the manufacturer's customer support. Blogs suggested to turn off BD-Live as well as the Quick Power-Up, but it didn't help here.
Terrible support for even a worse product.
Could not access Apps, the internet, or even Netflix, because of the required firmware update that was needed.
After reading so many good reviews, this experience was very concerning for my trust in review-accuracy.
Much rather spend and extra $10-$50 for a better product. -

Beware of Panasonic pricing & 'special' offers!
by Jefftech on April 18, 2012
Pros: Great picture, easy set-up & 2D to 3D conversion
Cons: No 2nd HDMI connection, older player had better esthetics.

Also, I received an e-mail from Panasonic stating that they would supply a 3D Avatar DVD with this purchase. We found no coupon in the box?
Called Panasonic and they stated it was an exclusive offer to U.S. customers only. Well, that's it! We have purchased several HDTV's and all the ancillary gear from Panasonic. We are now considering other manufacturers over a $30 DVD. This was VERY poor customer service from Panasonic.1 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.
