The good: Excellent Blu-ray image quality; Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, and Pandora media streaming, plus the expandable Samsung Apps platform; built-in Wi-Fi; 7.1 analog audio outputs; 1GB onboard storage.
The bad: Sluggish operational speed; competing Sony players offer 3D for about the same price; last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had questionable reliability.
The bottom line: Samsung's BD-C6500 Blu-ray player has excellent image quality, outstanding features for the price, and a slick design--we just wish it were a little faster.

Its works...but it is SLOW and Fickle
by srfii on July 23, 2011
Pros: Nice looking, Blue-ray, Wi-Fi ready, expandable HD.
Cons: SLLLLOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It takes forever to switch between menus, or load Discs, or even exit programs. The Wi-Fi is very fickle, It connects and loses connectivity even while 2 other devices in the room show max signal strength. The DVD hangs

Summary: I've owned this player now for a year...and after having to fight the wi-fi connectivity again today and having the Blue-ray hang for the hundredth time while watching movie last night...I was inspired to write this review...Im going out today to buy a new player. Did I mention it is SLOW to turn on, slow to turn off, slow to lad a disc, slow to load menus..painfully slow, such that you don't get used to it, rather you get more and more frustrated with it over time.

Overheats and dies
by johneberhardt on July 19, 2011
Pros: When it works it plays Blu-Rays and DVDs then overheats and freezes. I've also used Netflix but could not get the screen to format properly. Aspect ratio can be set for both DVD and Blu-Ray but not on Netflix (stretched faces) attempted all settings.
Cons: Does not work for any period of time in warm room and eventually fails regardless of room temp (it needs a fan or better heat sinks to protect circuits inside).
Summary: Avoid purchase unless you live in a freezer.

Great picture but can't play blu ray discs from Netflix
by john_whitman on June 4, 2011
Pros: Great picture. Was able to set up streaming movies from Netflix with no problems.
Cons: After having it for over a year now blu ray discs from Netflix will either 1) won't load 2) loads but then after about 5 minutes of playing the disc it freezes and/or skips making the movie unwatchable.

Summary: Despite doing firmware upgrades this particular blu ray player has serious problems. Numerous upgrades have not fixed the problem. After chatting online with a Samsung service person she could not fix the problem either and recommended that I fill out an online service application. But since the warranty has run out it seems like I will have to pay for service. That is not right. If you buy this player and want to play Netflix blu rays you have been warned!

WI-FI is unreliable and the upgrades made it worse
by alynnha on May 22, 2011
Pros: great picture quality and easy to use menus
Cons: I use a Netgear router. When using the wireless connection, I have trouble getting online and have to make 2 or more attemps to connect to Netflix. When I reenter my password for the router, then I can reconnect. Every time I get an upgrade for the firmwa

After the latest update to the firmware, I signed onto Netflix and the picture was distorted and had constant tiling. Had to stop using wifi and go back to a wired connection.

The Glitch Machine
by rcarso001 on April 11, 2011
Pros: The features on this player are great; from the built-in wireless to the many Apps.
Cons: The downside to this to this Blu-ray Disc includes freezing and audio drop out issues with some Blu Ray movies.
One would think that the Blu Ray technically glitches would have been remedied by now. I owned two other Samsung Blu-ray Disc players and h -

Pros: Great picture and sound quality.
Cons: Sometimes freezes while playing either DVD or Blu-Ray discs. Have to stop it and replay the movie. Does not show closed captions. Many discs does not have English subtitles but have "CC" logos.
