GARBAGE AND SO IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE!DO NOT PURCHASE!
by pissedofftrish on February 23, 2012
Pros: ABSOLUTLEY NONE!
Cons: I have changed internet, modems, and now have 30 megabytes, and still cannot watch Netflix without rebuffering or losing connection! Customer service will not help me, and no one ever calls me back, like the say they will. This is a **** poor company

Summary: Samsung will never help you. Don't even buy one of their products. If it ever breaks down, they will not help you! The customer service department is rude! I asked yesterday to speak to a supervisor, and he told me that there isn't one there, and that he is in charge of this phone call! He was the rudest one yet! I will continue to call them every day until I get this situation resolved. I bought this stupid product for $148.00, and it will not stream Netflix properly. That is the reason I purchased the product. Never again!!! This product is absolute garbage!!!

Junk. Do not recommend.
by kenn67 on January 21, 2012
Pros: Nice looking interface and easy set up. Good picture quality.
Cons: Slow, unreliable and poor quality product. Had to unplug to reboot many times because of freezing up and re-buffering during download streaming.
Summary: Do not buy.

Netflix app constantly stutters. Very slow machine.
by the_sheriff76 on July 6, 2012
Pros: USB port allows for easy viewing of many different types of video files.
Cons: While watching BluRays the player will sometimes become unresponsive to the remote. The Netflix app is horrible. There is constant buffering, skipping and audio shifts. Sometimes, you cannot even access the SmartHub that gives you access to the apps.
Summary: Absolutely do not pick up this machine. One of the few times i don't read reviews prior to buying electronics and I end up with this lemon.

Want to toss out the window
by Lawless2 on June 23, 2012
Pros: Works sometimes.. Nice Picture, Nice Feature Options
Cons: Connects to Netflix but won't stream. Vudu works sometimes but connection always breaks. So frustrating! If DVD is in player when unit is first turned on, it will automatically start playing and takes a moment to get to main screen. So Disappointed

Summary: We have called Samsung and Netflix for help several times with our streaming issues. Netflix says its Samsung, Samsung doesn't have a clue. They walk us through the same trouble shooting options each time and nothing helps. The past two times we've called, Help Person said they would put us at high priority and have someone call us back in 24 hours.. It has been about 6 months and nothing. We now watch Netflix on the Wii but use this player for DVD's only.. it works fine. The picture is nice. It is annoying that if there is a disc in the player - and you go to turn it on, the player will automatically stat playing the disc.
Really like Samsung products but wasted too much money on this one, will think twice before buying another Samsung anything.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: My experience mirrors that of so many others. Purchased December 2011 from Sears as a companion for my daughters Samsung TV. I've lost count of the number of times I've called Samsung for support. Very slow & clunky interface compared to my internet enabled Sony devices (TV Blu-Ray) on the same wired connection (U-Verse 12mb). Constant problems with Netflix not working and Hub freezing via automatic software updates. YouTube App is terrible as it won't allow you to play your Subscriptions like Sony's App. Only thing I like is the iPHone Remote App. Unit was sent back to Samsung for service and worked for a while before the same problems returned. Right now we cannot watch Netflix. Cannot recommend and based on our experiences we too won't be buying another Samsung product anytime soon.

It's a Blu Ray Player!
by D-Hicks on May 3, 2012
Pros: Easy Set up, good navigation, links with Samsung TV
Cons: None so far

Summary: Okay, I'm going to keep this review as objective & fact based as possible. Let's face it, you don't know me, I don't know you. Why trust my "opinion"? I could be color blind with Glaucoma & tone deaf. Does that help you to decide a players quality based on my review? No.
I purchased the 5700 a week ago & I did NOT buy this player for the wireless, internet connectivity, apps, blah, blah, blah. I bought this Blu Ray player to do just that, PLAY BLU RAYS! If there's one thing I can't stand, it's the negative reviews based on any players "software" & ignore it's Blu Ray/DVD performance.
It's a Blu Ray PLAYER, maybe it's your router, your IPS, your wi-Fi or whatever. I reviewed the 5700's ability to play Discs.
So here it is.... Out of the box, no issues, nothing missing, nothing broken. It took maybe 5 minutes to set up & connect to my 60" Samsung LN60C630. Since they're Samsung's they use BD wise to "talk" to each other. This can be good or bad. Because when you turn on the Blu Ray the TV turns on, the two are "linked". But you can Turn OFF this feature. With BD Wise you get another picture mode, BD Wise, besides the 4 existing modes. I like the BD Wise mode as the picture seems richer? But I tend to like brighter, more saturated colors.
The remote is similar to the TV, but it isn't exact, and it's NOT backlight. Some keys do glow, but otherwise useless in dim light. If your hoping to consolidate all functions into one remote, this will not do it. Either the Blu Ray remote is confused about which unit I want the menu for or the TV is confused or I am confused, either way there is NO button to tell the remote to control the Blu Ray or the TV. I'm still figuring it out.
All the control buttons on the front are "soft" buttons. They light up & are touch sensitive, no delays. You have 3 choices, Dim, Bright & Auto. However, when you turn off the power the "soft" power button stays lit. The whole thing is black, so this makes it easy to find the power button in the dark?
I replaced my Sony Blu Ray S370, which was dead quiet. This was my 3rd purchase. The first 2 Blu Rays players were the Panasonic 210 & the Samsung 5300, both were noisy. You could hear the disc spinning during playback, very annoying. The 5700 is quiet, NOT as quiet as the Sony, but not distracting, although it is louder playing a DVD vs a Blu Ray. Okay here are the facts regarding load times.
I will use movies most people should have? So you can compare times against what you have. I used Star wars -A New Hope on Blu Ray & Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD(for now).
Just a note, I do find Star Wars "laboring" just to get to the movie, no matter what player I use Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, the player is "thinking".
Open Tray & pressing play to first image on screen:
Star Wars - :40 (This Blu Ray has been manufactured...)
Raiders - :29 (Main menu)
Open Tray to Main menu:
Star Wars - 2:23
Raiders - :29
Main menu Play to movie start:
Star Wars - :53
Raiders - :54
Resume movie after pressing Stop:
Star Wars - 1:40
Raiders - :04
There is nothing I hate or scratch my head & think "why does it do that" or "why doesn't it do this", so far. If I encounter any problems I will do a follow up post. But if yu can get the 5700 on sale, definitely buy it...what's the worst that can happen? Take it back if you don't like it. -
Worked great until it stopped working all together

Returned it and got a new one, which worked for a month or two before it suddenly stopped reading discs.
I still love my Samsung TV, but I'm returning this blu-ray player and getting a different brand all together because this model is simply frail. -
Excellent!!!! Awesome Samsung Blu-Ray Player
by Scifiman2078 on October 7, 2011
Pros: This is an excellent player. Everything works great. I've had mine since the beginning of August.
Cons: Occasionally the Wi-Fi can loose connection. But that could just be my service. But it has only happened on 3 occasions. So, not really a con.

Great value for the price.
by bgonz081 on August 30, 2011
Pros: Netflix works great. I have a vcr that is over 15 years old from samsung and still works. Though my dvd player lasted 10 years and was a samsung it was time to replace it. I have samsung tvs and even phones. And yes some things are bad apples out of the b
Cons: Wish anynet feature worked on all tvs no matter what kind or size.
Summary: Overall this is a great player and works well.
