Constant problems!
by jiminOH on March 3, 2012
Pros: Affordable
Cons: See above, I've had so many issues over the last 8 months, and spent a lot of time researching, calling (both Samsung & Netflix), and it still has issues!
Summary: Bought a new entertainment pkg from 'Worst Buy' to include the D6500 Blue Ray and a Samsung flatscreen. I have had nothing but problems with the Blue Ray. Netflix promblems ...
Summary: Bought a new entertainment pkg from 'Worst Buy' to include the D6500 Blue Ray and a Samsung flatscreen. I have had nothing but problems with the Blue Ray. Netflix promblems have included "Netflix not available, try again later", Lost connection, and rebuffering issues. I took it back to Worst Buy twice (once they sent it in to replace the 'mother board'?). Every time I try a new 'fix' it causes another technical issue. You would think, since the BlueRay and the TV are the same maker (any newer), that it would be more 'plug and pay'-NOPE- continuous issues is making me want to throw the D6500 away. Advise- always buy the Black Tie coverage for any BestBuy product! Maybe I just got a 'bad unit', but the errors I continue to rec'v are very common upon researching. You'd think they would address these issues with firmware updates- NOPE.

It is an okay BD player
by b16crxt on January 22, 2012
Pros: All the streaming services, great integration with my Samsung plasma tv, and has played everything I've put in it so far. No physical buttons to get broken, one USB port.
Cons: ONE usb port which is located under a flip panel on the front of the device.
painfully slow loading time on Blu-Ray discs.
Netflix loads slowly. Most of the time will only load a handful of icons for me.
wifi is iffy at best.
netflix wont load imagesSummary: With the poor wifi, slow bd speeds, weak netflix app functionality, and poor placement of the usb port, in conjunction with price, i'm thinking of taking it back soon.

An excellent little 3D Bluray Player
by trompfy on October 11, 2011
Pros: Great Picture and decent 3D
Cons: 3D price premium is high; buttons on top of the player are inconvenient; last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had reliability issues.
Summary: I bought this so I can watch my Home and Away episodes from the USB Flash Drive on my 3D TV in 3D.

Samsung's the Man
by codebraker07 on April 27, 2011
Pros: After many model reviews, this one is hand down. I truly love the picture quality. I have it connected using RCA connection and it still looks awesome. I will get an HDMI cable to improve the picture quality. I especially enjoy all of its features. I
Cons: The only thing I don't like to do is having to use the numeric/alpha pad on the screen with the remote. It takes too long for me to get the codes entered, but I think as I go I will improve on its key entry.

Summary: One of my favorite things on this model is that I integrate my videos, photos right from my laptop. That is awesome. I was planning on buying a long HDMI cable to connect my laptop to my TV so that I could watch movies from my laptop to my TV screen. This model takes charge of that!!! Awesome product.
I forgot to mention that I chose this model because of its WI-Fi feature. Everything went fine, no problem connection. Now I've got my laptop and Blu-ray integrated to watch stored movies and photos from my laptop to my screen TV without connecting a long HDMI cable to my TV. Fantastic !!!

Does Samsung Stand Behind Their Products? Not this time
by Perform_ance on August 5, 2012
Pros: DVD-Blu-Ray works great
Cons: Netflix streaming does not function properly. See "Chat" conv with Samsung. Very disappointing considering the efforts put forth to ensure the issues weren't caused by some source outside my Samsung product, prior to my reaching out to Samsung.
Summary: System: Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
System: All Samsung Agents are currently assisting others. Thanks for your patience. A Samsung Agent will be with you shortly.

Agent: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung tech support. How can I help you today?
You: My BD-D6500 has trouble streaming older programs from Netflix such as Monk and Star Trek (needs to constanlty rebuffer and sometimes disconnects from my excellent wireless connection) while steaming other more current programs and documentary's just fine.
Agent: I understand that you are facing issue with streaming Netflix on your player. Is that correct?
You: As I said, the issue seems to be primarily with older programs. Any suggestions?
Agent: Thank you for confirming.
Agent: There might be issue with the particular program at the servere End.
Agent: *Server.
You: According to many reviews of this product, others are having similar issues. The tech folks at Best Buy indicated that the processor for this function isn't built very well within the Samsung product. For instance, my Wii works just fine for streaming the same programs. Is there a better product or player that will function properly?
Agent: There are no such reported issue.
You: Interesting that no one reported their issues... I just read several online, and am reporting the issue NOW!!!
Agent: I understand your concern.
Agent: If the issue is with the player then you will not be able to access the Netflix and other App on your player.
You: I can access Netlix, but the data transfer doesn't work very well with some shows/programs coming in from Netflix to the Samsung smart TV through the player. What do you suggest to help with this issue?
Agent: You need to contact the Netflix support.
You: This isn't a Netflix support issue! It's a Samsung product issue, which is why I'm contacting you. I've already contacted Netflix, my Internet provider, the store where I purchased the Player, their tech support personnel, etc.
Agent: The Netflix app is created by Netflix, not Samsung and it connects to the Netflix server. Therefore, the problem is caused by something on Netflix'stend.
Agent: I don't mean to rush you, but we haven't had a response from you. Are we still connected?
You: Why then, do you think that my other Netflix streaming devices work just fine and the only piece of equipment I am having trouble with is the Samsung player? This isn't a Netflix app issue!!!
Agent: There might be issue with the particular program at Netflix server.
Agent: This is the reason you are unable to stream the programs.
You: Pretty disappointing for a Samsung proponent who owns many Samsung products to be getting the blame game response, pointing fingers at some other source as the problem. I am able to stream some programs
Agent: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
You: Since I'm able to stream some Netfix programs just fine, that suggests to me that the issue isn't around being able to stream Netflix. Doesn't make any sense.
Agent: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
Agent: Sorry for the typo.
Agent: As you are able to stream the program this clearly indicates there is no issue with the player.
Agent: I don't mean to rush you, but we haven't had a response from you. Are we still connected?
You: Amazing... As a consumer who is going to post this entire conversation, I will leave you with the following. In my opinion, it would have given me much more confidence in Samsung if you would have acknowledged that there was something inadequate with the equipment and tried to assist in getting to the source, instead of suggesting the problem was with something else.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

I had difficult time setting up. Samsung should fix their software. I have called Samsung tech support 4 times
and they responded quickly but does not have an Idea that files on the Home server will not run, any files for that matter.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
