Samsung BD-D6700 price range: $371.17

The good: The Samsung BD-D6700 sports dual HDMI outputs, built-in Wi-Fi, and one of the most extensive suites of streaming video services in comparable Blu-ray players this year, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, MLB.TV, Vudu and CinemaNow. Its 1GB of onboard memory is also more than you get in most of the competition.
The bad: It's tough to justify the BD-D6700's high price, especially with the Sony PS3 being available for only slightly more. And while the dual HDMI outputs are nice, most buyers that need them will be just as satisfied with a player with a single HDMI output and using the optical output for audio.
The bottom line: The Samsung BD-D6700 is an excellent all-around Blu-ray player with dual HDMI outputs, but for most buyers its upgrades won't justify its high price.

Defective firmware.
by spikeaus on June 19, 2011
Pros: Wi Fi connection seamless, Great Apps, Hub system to access Apps very user friendly. Plays non Blu-Ray DVDs perfectly. Netflix, Hulu, Pandora all perfect streams.
Cons: Installed this unit, brand new, one week ago. We played one Blu-Ray DVD and the player would not play it again or any other Blu-Ray DVD? Firmware could not ID or play ANY Blu-Ray DVDs after the first one was played? It must be a defect in the firmware o
Summary: Quirky defective system for playing Blu-Ray discs otherwise it ran perfectly. This one's going back... After all it is primarily a disc player and it can't play the ...

Summary: I originally bought the Panasonic's DMP-BDT210 mainly because it was the Cnet Editors Choice but it's Netflix bug which they fixed with an update made it's Internet interface much slower and inconsistent. I replaced that player with the Samsung BD D6700 and couldn't be happier. Outstanding DVD picture quality and much better picture quality through Netflix, tons more Streaming Apps and even Apps you can add and download directly to this player. Also the iPad/iPhone/Android app allows you to use your iPad as the players remote which is very cool.
Bottom line: this SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE EDITORS CHOICE FOR NEW BLU RAY PLAYERS!!!
Had both and the Panasonic BDT210 can't touch this device.. May cost a bit more ($40 in my case) but well worth it and you do get what you pay for...2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I would recommend this Blu-ray player to anyone that has a AV receiver with 1.3 HDMI version. So you will be able to hook it up to your AV receiver to get the HD lossless audio through HDMI. Because you cannot get it through a digital cable connection.*

Will not play new blu ray disks, model needs update.
by BlueMoon418 on January 7, 2012
Pros: Internet connectivity, ease of use for disks that will play
Cons: You will want to throw this piece of crap against the wall the third time you buy an unplayable disk. Chances are 50-50 that any new blu ray disk you buy will not be playable on this lemon. No firmware update available.
Summary: Update the firmware already Samsung!!!! I'm returning this and buying something that works. This model came highly recommended, and for this price it should at the very least play ...

Blu-ray Player that doesn't play Blu-rays.
by wickxpress on February 5, 2012
Pros: As a novice tech person I agree with the CNET review in that most of the features that make this player special are above and beyond what the average user require.
Cons: The player's out of date firmware prevent it from playing many movies. In the first 4 weeks I came across 4 movies from Netflix that wouldn't play. I connected the device to my wi-fi network and had playback issues each time I tried to watch a movie.
Summary: I may not know enough to provide a thorough review of this product but I know that this Blu-ray player doesn't play Blu-rays. I confirmed with Samsung tech support ...

CNET not reviewing relevant features
by awraw7 on April 23, 2011
Pros: - 2D to 3D conversion
Cons: - Price (depending on your pov)
Summary: With all due respect, CNET seems to be missing THE feature I'm buying it for: 2D to 3D movie "conversion." It would be nice to see this reviewed.

Summary: I have replaced my noisy Panasonic DMP-BDT210 with a Samsung BD-6500 and I am very satisfied with that unit. It has good selection of streaming service, connects to facebook and twitter. Has also apps you can download. DLNA (Samsung AllShare) works great and has more supported format than the panasonic although I was not able to play all my videos. Might need to change some encoding parameters. The image quality for DVD is great although I noticed a bit of image noise for some DVDs. The iPhone app is great and has full keyboard functionality which is great when using internet services.
