Agonizingly slow

Summary: The word that best describes the Sharp BD-HP25U is SLOW. As a BluRay player it does OK although the disc loading time is slow by today's standards. If you just want a disc player then the Sharp BD-HP25U is a good unit for the price. However it's the other features of the Sharp BD-HP25U that make it unacceptable. Accessing Netflix and VUDU is agonizingly slow and often locks up the unit even though I have it hard wired to the router with a blazing fast internet connection. I never was able to access You Tube. As far as accessing files from a home network computer, the Sharp BD-HP25U again is agonizingly slow. The unit does not recognize some of the file extensions listed in the spec sheet. It takes 30-60 seconds to access each level of folders and about 20 seconds to load a 1 Meg picture. I never was able to watch a video from a networked computer. The unit sometimes locks up on shut down requiring you to unplug the power cord. I returned mine three days after purchase and bought the LG BD690.

First Blue ray player! Great Deal from Sears!

Pros: Picture quality is very defined with the use of HDMI cable and I hooked it up with the Sony sound bar. The BD live feature is nice to have but I don't really feel I would be using it that often.
Cons: Totally right with the slow loading....If I find a better deal after thanksgiving I will exchange it.
Summary: Good for starters. Watching blue ray is totally the best experience for movie family night.

Ok for the first Blu-ray

Pros: Comes with a few new options like a 2gb flash drive for BD live
Cons: Slow load time. First two disks took over 2 minutes to start the movie. Overall quality was not what I expected.
Summary: I would look to going up and spending more to get a better player. Returned in two weeks.
