Inexpensive player that did not work well
by chocolate-chip on December 16, 2009
Pros: inexpensive
Cons: crapped out after two weeks. While viewing a picture CD the player froze and displayed sys err. It had acted erratically playing DVD's before, but had not actually become inoperable. There is no way to manually remove the CD, like with a computer
Summary: I called sony customer support. Then tried to help me reset the player by unplugging from the power source and then plugging back in a minute later. The player would ...
Summary: I called sony customer support. Then tried to help me reset the player by unplugging from the power source and then plugging back in a minute later. The player would not reset and I was told to mail the player back to sony for them to remove my CD, mail it back to me, fix the player, then mail it back to me. I'm just going to take it back to COSTCO and pick up a different model.

Only Lasted Two Weeks
by NickDixon14850 on February 3, 2010
Pros: None. Didn't have it long enough to find any.
Cons: This player gave me trouble with the first two BD's I played and by the third has quit completely. It will still play regular DVD's, but no longer play BD's after just two weeks.
Summary: Very unreliable, not built to last. Sony will only exchange it for the same model, which I have no faith will work any better than the first based on the ...

BX2 suddenly faills after 11 months
by 6804beatswindows on November 26, 2010
Pros: Great player while it lasted
Cons: All disks loaded to this player are reported as "No Disk". Sony service suggestions are useless. It will not spin a cleaner disk so I cannot figure out if that would fix it. Will buy a replacement rather than mess with it. I expect more than this.
Summary: Avoid this device.

Cheap, substandard and lack of support. Don't buy.
by netnit on June 2, 2010
Pros: Price and the fact that you can buy it from me.
Cons: Everything. Let's start with the little ones and then I'll move onto big ones:
1. Slow.
2. Not current.
3. Does not play all disks.Summary: Slow startup, slow playback, slow tray open, slow boot up.

I purchased from a store about 4 months ago and I had to do an update. I think sony needs to work on their appliances a bit more before they send them to stores for sale. Why should I pay money for an appliance that does not work out of the box and requires update?
It plays majority of BD disks, but it does not play Avatar 2D even though I applied the latest update from Sony website.
There was no support from Sony except for some person named "Bria_" who didn't know how to read and understand English, provided wrong information and was totally unhelpful. I forgot to mention that I'm fortunate enough to be able to test the Avatar 2D disk in my HP laptop which after applying update was able to play it. SONY PLAYER WAS NOT ABLE TO PLAY A GOOD DISK EVEN AFTER APPLYING LATEST UPDATE.
Don't buy it, or buy it from me! :) haha! -
Good for the Money. Can be Sluggish at times.
by samsonthegoldenretriever on February 10, 2010
Pros: Works well for the money. Pretty fast start up but not as fast as my old dvd player.
Cons: Sluggish on BD-live and more complex menus
Summary: This is good stater blu-ray player. If you want wi-fi, netflix, pandora etc. this player is not for you.

Best sony blu-ray player for the price.
by nathanoppie on February 9, 2010
Pros: This blu-ray player does have all the onboard decoding for dts-hd Master Audio and dolby hd. Load times are good but not fantastic. Upscaler works well and for the price its great. It is just costco's version of the S-360 specs are the same.
Cons: The remote is cheap and does not have an eject button. The whole front face flips down which can lead to problems in the future. USB flash drive has to be the right size to work.
Summary: I dont know why this player has had such bad reviews. Bang for your buck its great. Don't expect 500-800 dollar features with a $150 player. I have only ...
Summary: I dont know why this player has had such bad reviews. Bang for your buck its great. Don't expect 500-800 dollar features with a $150 player. I have only had this player for a few months and have had no real issues. The lack of an eject button was easily fixed with the re-program of my logitech remote. The internet connectivity is slow but if I wanted a better player I'd spend the money. It is costco's version of the S-360 and has all the same features but comes with a HDMI cable. Overall I'd buy this player again. Call me a purist but I'd want a blu-ray player from Sony, the company that helped develop blu-ray.
