The good: Compact iPod/iPhone stereo system that delivers big sound; able to fill large rooms; edgy industrial design with minimalist styling; solid construction; big bass; convenient carrying handle.
The bad: No extra features; bass will rattle nearby objects; fairly pricey; wireless module is an optional accessory (with no specific price or due date); no battery option.
The bottom line: The Monster Beatbox may not deliver the most refined sonics, but if you're looking for big, aggressive sound from a small box, this is the one you want.

Well built. Impressive sound. Big power. Remote nsg.
by z06corvette on November 30, 2010
Pros: Excellent bass response (somewhat dependant on music genre). Midrange and high end are well defined, clear and very listenable. Overall sound quality is as good as, if not better than the B&W Zeppelin or Bose Soundock 10, both much more expensive.
Cons: Cheapy plastic-bubble remote. Plays louder with an iPhone 3Gs versus an iPhone 4.

Summary: I auditioned this unit at my local Apple Store in Portland, Maine. I've been longing for a B&W Zeppelin for the last two years and when I heard this, I immediately felt that this sounded as good, if not better than the much more expensive B&W dock. At $399 this was at the top of my budget. Mesmerized by the bass this thing was putting out, I had to have it. I've had it for two weeks now and overall, I do enjoy it. Things to consider before buying: it plays louder with my wife's iPhone 3Gs than my own iPhone 4, and I'm not sure why. The literature doesn't explicitly state that the Beatbox is compatible with the 4, and I gambled that it was. Sure, you can dock and play the iPhone 4, but the Beatbox immediately syncs its volume level to the volume on the iPhone volume slider, and will not go louder. With the iPhone 3GS you can increase the volume on the iPhone volume slider itself, then increase the volume even further by using the volume control on the Beatbox. Bottom line, if you have an iPhone 3G or 3Gs it will play very LOUD. If you're using an iPhone 4, the sound pressure won't blow you away. Also, the sound quality with dance tracks or hip-hop music is phenomenal: unreal deep bass that will leave your jaw dropping. In other words, play something that was produced by Dre himself and you'll drool. When you play something like classic rock or 80's music, it's not nearly as impressive though it certainly sounds good. Like the literature says, the Beatbox is very dependant upon placement. If it's on a coffee table in the center of a room, that amazing bass is dramatically weakened. If it is against a wall or in the corner, you'll notice a gigantic improvement in the soundstage and deep bass response. As a bonus, the remote control will allow me to skip songs on LAST.FM without having to get off my couch, unlike my old Altec Lansing T612 did. Even with the slight limitations, it's the best sounding, most-powerfull, best-built iPhone/iPod speaker dock on the market right now. I've listened to it for hours on end and most of the time it's making me want to play just one more track...

Decent, But There's Better...
by RainTigress on February 4, 2012
Pros: BIG sound from a small dock.
Powerful bass.
Handles most genres of music very well.Cons: $400 price tag. (That's just silly.)
Speakers blow way too easily.
No equalizer. You get a dock, a power button and a volume control.
Weak tweeters.Summary: It's a decent system, but the IK501 from Kicker is a better quality dock of the same size for a lesser price (with an equalizer). With the Beatbox, it'...
Summary: It's a decent system, but the IK501 from Kicker is a better quality dock of the same size for a lesser price (with an equalizer). With the Beatbox, it's obvious that you're paying for the name. The Kicker system is about $100 less and doesn't blow nearly as easy.

- Description: Until now, listening to the signature Beats sound was a solo activity. But now you can share it with your friends. Beatbox unleashes the driving bass, lush midrange, and soaring highs of a multi-speaker club system in one amazingly compact and portable box. Plus, it nails the energy of hip hop, the dynamics of rock, the delicate detail of jazz, even the intricate texture of a symphony. Better still, when you place the slightly triangular Beatbox in any corner of a room, it'll pump out a wall of sound with bass so thunderous; folks will think your home is the newest club. Plus, the techies will wonder where you hid the subwoofer and amplifier Beatbox replaces. And with the included remote control, you'll fast reverse and fast forward straight to those juicy guitar solos and drum fills. So, share your music. It's time to bring the party home.
