The good: Really good sound from a compact, single-speaker; classy, minimalist styling; plays loud without distorting, and fills a large room; simple to operate; interchangeable dock system; composite video output/line input; GSM shielded for iPhones.
The bad: Expensive; optional Bluetooth dock accessory works well but is $150 extra; no radio; you can't charge your iPod/iPhone when using the Bluetooth accessory; video-out limited to low-res composite connection.
The bottom line: While it's expensive and isn't loaded with features, the Bose SoundDock 10 is classy looking and sounds excellent for a compact iPod/iPhone speaker.

A Fantastic Product!!
by Paul_Hill on November 11, 2009
Pros: The Sound quality is fantastic, when playing a variety of different pieces of music (Classical to Rock etc) what is apparent is how good the dynamic range is. Great low range but crisp clear highs great separation too
Cons: If The video out would allow you to display the your music on screen so you can use the TV to navigate
Summary: One thing that is apparent is that the Sounddock 10 is a bit bigger than other Bose Sounddock's, this is because Performance was the focus of this model. When ...
Summary: One thing that is apparent is that the Sounddock 10 is a bit bigger than other Bose Sounddock's, this is because Performance was the focus of this model. When playing classical music (Johann Strauss On the Beautiful Blue Danube)I noticed the range of the product to be great, from the low range of the drums to the clarity of the wood and string sections, and the higher range of the percussion section, all where very clear and well seperated. Then a bit of Rock (Kings of Leon) then some metal music (Metallica) and finally a bit of country (Rosanne Cash). For all these genres the Sounddock 10 handled all with out a problem, it sounded just amazing! With regard to some issues that have been mentioned in other reviews, such as lack of clock and alarm etc, these features are all on your ipod. If you loose the remote control the Sounddock 10's set up allows you to use the Volume control and navigation on the Ipod itself. In the case of the Ipod Touch you will see the volume controls disappear momentarily, and then re-appear. With Classic Models and Nano Models, use the click wheel. When using the Bluetooth Adapter I found it to work flawlessly with My Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone, and with the Bluetooth feature on my Ipod touch. For me I noticed no difference in the sound quality, it was just great. I got a longer range from my mobile phone than my ipod touch. Remember the Bluetooth Adapter is a receiver therefore the range you get is more dependant on the transmitting range of the Bluetooth device you are pairing with it. Yes compared to other products it costs a bit more (In the UK the price is 699GBP with the Bluetooth Adapter included)However for me I feel it is worth every penny. I always have it on when I can, I love my music, and for me its just great, five stars! If I could change one thing it would be for the Video Output to display my music tracks so I could navigate my Ipod using my Television.

Great Bose product and great acoustics.
by gkorsgard on October 5, 2009
Pros: I like the sound and especially the focus on more bass from such a small speaker. The remote is simple like all wave systems and great reception.
Cons: Obviously price is a little high. The bluetooth adapter needs some work. Sometimes the signal drops and the audio quality suffers.
Summary: In all - awesome speaker for iPods and iPhones. I have owned this for one week and have been using it daily. No regrets on this purchase!

SoundDock 10 is the best ipod speaker I ever heard.
by ritabrata101991 on October 15, 2009
Pros: Great Bass. Excellent sound from twiddler. This is now one of the ultimate sound system I own.
Cons: Nothing bad. Only a little bit heavy (8.4 Kg). But it's because of the woofer so it is considerable.

Summary: I own 4 sound systems of Bose. Including this Bose SoundDock 10. Among all high range ipod dock this system gives best sound output. Specially the powerful woofer gives a complete theatre effect. Can easily be used as a primary sound system at home. B&W Zeppelin is the only strong competitor but still its cannot give an output of 150 Watts.

The Best ! yet not the best somehow
by Ahouchan on June 12, 2011
Pros: 1. One Piece System; 2 wires at the most with Auxiliary out
2. Believe it or not this thing sounds like a home theater system
3. As usual with most Bose system, You can play as loud as you like with no Distortion.
4.Small in size, footprint but big soundCons: 1.Heavy
2.Costly. Should Packed together with Bluetooth
3.Poor bass if placed wrongly (Popular issue.I'll explain later)
4. Cannot be placed at desktop level. Must be on the Floor or with a low height table probably at knee or thigh height level. ProbablySummary: Many people have trouble getting their SD 10 to work. Summary: Many people have trouble getting their SD 10 to work. Some say "wow impressive bass! sounds like a theater" Some doesn't get to experience that kinda claim at home and suspect those reviewers may be working in Bose. Bose Wave guide was over-hyped Blah Blah Blah .
While most people experiencing inadequate bass or virtually none at all- *is true*. The problem here is the Design of the SD 10. For some poor design reason, the bass sound was projected in a
up-firing way somehow. So if you may have placed on your desktop and find that the bass isn't working, you may have to place it somewhere on a lower.
Imagine this. Most of us may probably own a 3 piece system and we wouldn't want to place our subwoofer on our desktop. We probably put it on the floor near a corner of the wall to get the maximum potential. Unfortunately SD10 works somewhat that way. You have to treat this thing like a subwoofer. Try it on the floor near a wall. You won't believe that was your disappointing SD 10 you brought earlier on. I do agree that this thing doesn't look good when place on the floor or feels good by not being visible. But the sound quality compensate it all If place correctly.
Sigh* I can only say this thing should be 5 stars. But due to placement limitation and the cost of this poor sound design I gave it 3.5 stars.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Awesome large room filling sound!
by garbaldi on December 25, 2009
Pros: Small footprint, powerful sound. Works great with cd/changers, MP3 players, and tevelvisions.
Cons: More iPod control and a sleep timer for the soundock needed.

Summary: At low volume the sound is clear and all instruments can be heard precisely. I personally tested the "10" in a corporate dining room, 75' X 65', and this small system filled the room with glorious music that you would swear was coming from an expensive component system. I have yet to use full volume, but based on the test mentioned, I believe the Soundock 10 could easily fill a room twice the size of the one I used. I am not a Bose employee, so these are my honest, subjective opinions. I would highly recommend this system to anyone who needs portability cupled with an outstanding sonic experience.

Summary: In my opinion the Bose SoundDock 10 is slightly better than the Acoustic Wave II , significantly better than the Wave II and a lot better than the other SoundDocks. It sounds REALLY good. Btw, I don't work for Bose, I just discovered them 2 years ago and they are awesome. But this is definitely better than all their other stereo speakers.

Amazing sound! Crisp, clear, with good bass response!
by arnold_72 on August 7, 2011
Pros: Though this unit does'nt have preset equalizer settings, it suprisingly sound balanced and clear. The highs are crisp and the bass response is good with no distortion even on high volume.
Cons: I was hesitant to buy this unit at first because of the price and not to mention that it only has a composite video out.
Summary: Being used to have an equalizer (parametric and graphic) on my sound units, i never thought that i wouldn't be missing them on this sounddock. Yes it's expensive ...
Summary: Being used to have an equalizer (parametric and graphic) on my sound units, i never thought that i wouldn't be missing them on this sounddock. Yes it's expensive but it's well worth it. BTW, since i already have an Apple Airport Express, streaming my music is a breeze (better than Bose's bluetooth accessory).

Superb sound--well worth the price!

Pros: Outstanding sound reproduction throughout the spectrum; true plug-and-play simplicity; works well with inputs other than iPod/iPhone.
Cons: None that concern me in the slightest . . .

Summary: I am an audiophile who started out with component systems in the early 70's, and if there's one thing I can tell in a review it's the difference between a "pseudo-objective" comparison and one in which the reviewer acknowledges that all the laboratory measurements in the world don't mean a hill of beans--it's what you hear that counts. Don't be fooled by "side-by-side comparisons" in a store--they're meaningless because any one-piece unit like the Bose SD 10, Dr. Dre, B+W Zep, etc. will sound very different in your home. In fact, they will sound very different depending on exactly where they are placed in your home. So the only way to really determine if you like one unit more than another is to buy them all and test them out in your home. One of the reviewers did that with the B+W, although I'm not if he moved the units around to achieve the best sound from each of them. Even doing a side-by-side in your own home isn't really the best way to compare different units, unless you have only one spot you can place it.
Since, like most people, I have numerous options for placing the units, I bought the Dr. Dre, B+W Zep, and Bose SD 10 and placed them n the same room--but I spent some time putting them where they sounded the best (to me, of course, and that's the whole point). with a variety of music ranging from classical to rock to jazz to piano solos. I played the same set of 9 songs on each of the units in their optimum location. For my ear, the Bose was a hands-down winner, especially in it's ability to reproduce clean, really low bass along with excellent mid-range and superb high-end transients. Sound volume with acceptable distortion was significantly better with the Bose. In nutshell, the other units were excellent, but the Bose was clearly superior.
The lack of "features" doesn't bother me because I can alter the sound easily enough using the equalizer function on my iPhone--I do that routinely for every song I listen to because I never know if it will be through earphones (Klipsch, BTW, because they're better than the Bose and half the price) or a speaker system like the SD 10. The Dr. Dre and B+W have been returned, which is a PITA, but worth the trouble when you're spending several hundred $$. The analogy I think of is that if you are the kind of person who buys a good digi cam and loves fooling around with all of the scene modes and futzing with the shutter speeds, ASA setting, etc, you will probably not be happy with the lack of features on the Bose. But if you buy a good camera so that you can use it in automatic "point-and-shoot" mode and get great results, then the Bose will be just your speed.
I strongly suspect that the reviewers who complained about the bass being weak or the sound being "flat" didn't move the unit around to find the optimal placement (or perhaps they had no choice). If I placed the SD 10 in a corner, the bass was actually too boomy for my taste, so I had to move it several feet away.
All in all, if you want a no-muss, no fuss unit with superb sound across the audio spectrum, the Bose Sound Dock 10 is well worth it's hefty price. -
Big Price. Big Sound. TOTALLY WORTH IT
by apoorva188 on June 12, 2011
Pros: The Soundock 10 definitely has much to offer, such as:
-Loudness which fills the room very comfortably.
- No squeaky and irritating sound quality that some music systems give.
- Warm, calming sound. That wont rip your heart out no matter how loudCons: -Remote is strictly fully functional with the iPod,not with the aux devices.
- Very low amount of bass. Barely enough for satisfaction of listeners.Summary: The soundDock is worth every amount of penny spent there. It's surely the best you can buy on the market. But the dock is for people of the older ...
Summary: The soundDock is worth every amount of penny spent there. It's surely the best you can buy on the market. But the dock is for people of the older age group who listen to more melodious tunes rather than the teen/youth edgy music. It doesn't provide as much bass as it is expected and there's a lot of flatness around the music. But the sound quality is definitely the best out there. You can hear every thing that's happening behind and the clearness is simply beautiful. The dock also boasts a very strong loudness. It comfortably fills the room with the music of any kind of genre. The dock's own volume control is better than the iphone/ipod because apple keeps it's volumes lower. It can also fill over a 5000 sq ft room/ house without anyone needing to struggle to hear. The remote works pretty effectively with the ipod, only with the aux its kind of the problem. With low sounds, the bass is shown more effectively compared to the high volume/ edgy music.
Bottom line: Definitely worth it if your looking for playing oldies, jazz, adult progressive and slow rock. -
Classical, rich, powerful. A true gem in small system.
by Schnoogie on March 12, 2011
Pros: The range is incredible. Bass is exceptional and bring in just enough rumble to enjoy an array of music. Beautiful design and rich clear sound.
Cons: Price and minimal Ipod interaction.

Summary: Though many might find the bass a bit bleak, in truth it is exceptional. This dock does feature one of the best low tones and high notes but it wouldn't be the best system if your into really feeling the base vibrate the room and an exaggerated tremble. If you can afford the system you will love it for life guaranteed. Bose's acoustic sound wave tech is an amazing creation.
Bottom line: you've havent heard good music from your ipod until you dock it to the Bose Sounddock 10.
