Summary: This item will dramatically improve the quality of your iPads internal speaker. I use it to listen to Slacker Radio and to watch movies on various applications suck as Direct, Netflix & bought movies. The battery life is fantastic and when it connects I have NO problems what so ever, it quickly connects in a flash! The included speaker cover doubles as a stand for your iPad which is nice .....if you can use it, currently I have a cover on mine making it slightly thicker. I currently own two iHome products and have been very pleased by the quality of the products and would definitely recommend this product which I paid $49.99 for. This product has a great price point, features and sound quality.....get it!

Manufacturing Issues and Windows Setup is a Challenge
by BFETechie on February 19, 2013
Pros: Compact Portable Device
Cons: Manufacturing Issues - Search the internet and you'll see. I had to return the first one I bought. Would not power on and now light.
No easy setup in Windows - you'll have to do some work with the audio/BT settings in Windows to get it to work.
Summary: Search around on the internet and you'll find out there are quality control issues in manufacturing with these speakers. The first one I bought did not work - Would ...

Summary: Search around on the internet and you'll find out there are quality control issues in manufacturing with these speakers. The first one I bought did not work - Would not hold a charge, no green light, and would not connect. Returned it and the next one worked fine.
If you plan to purchase to use with a Windows PC be prepared to configure audio and Bluetooth settings on your own. It will not synch audio automatically when you pair it with your PC. To save you a little time here is a link to help you get the audio working.

So far from what I can tell the audio is so so. The .mp3s I have played so far all have a little background static through this speaker.

Summary: What's great about this unit is that it has the best blend of quality and portability. To do better with bluetooth, you need something much bigger such as the Bose Soundlink Wireless or the Creative D200. The IDM12 does not have the sound quality of these two, but it is good enough to enhance the audio from a tablet, IPOD, or smart phone. The level of bass is a huge surprise given its size. Ironically, it falls down a bit with middle range and treble where in some cases, it might sound a bit tinny. One other thing to note is that at low volumes, there is slight static. This doesn't really bother me, as I tend to use it as background when I am doing something while using it to play music or watch video. It really isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it. Considering everything, it doesn't sound bad. Also, the bluetooth pairing couldn't be easier. The signal is easily received by the device you are trying to pair it with. Also, the next time you use it with that device, recognition and pairing occur easily.
If you take a gadget around the house or on a trip and you want something portable with decent sound quality to enhance/amplify the audio, and also considering price, you're doing quite well with this iHome bluetooth speaker.

Style meets substance
by bewitness on August 18, 2011
Pros: Small, portable and stylish
Reasonably priced
Great sound
Solid battery life
Cons: Sound can be a little too "basey"
No removable battery
The IDM12 will only amplify the sound of a tablet/PC which has poor sound only moderately
Summary: There is a saying that you get what you pay for, and that's absolutely true when it comes to the ihome IDM12. You get a very stylish portable speaker ...

Summary: There is a saying that you get what you pay for, and that's absolutely true when it comes to the ihome IDM12. You get a very stylish portable speaker with excellent sound. I purchased mine from ihome's website for $55. If your like me and have an ipad, a device with decent but not great sound, you will immediately notice the difference in sound when using this speaker. When you couple the price with the IDM12's performance this becomes a must have speaker for budget conscious tablet and PC users.

Summary: I'm a 30 year old male, not my grandma, so this isn't a user error. I was happy with this for the first couple of months, it worked great and the battery lasted as long as I needed it. While using the speaker I got a phone call and turned it off, after the call it would not turn back on. I tried charging it and that didn't work. It just quit working. I returned it to Best Buy and ordered another one because I was pleased with it when it did work. I got it quickly in the mail and plugged it in for the initial charge. Nothing. No green light. I tried multiple usb connections and even left it plugged in the 8 hours it says. Still nothing. This is the only thing I've ever purchased from iHome and it will be the last. It worked great for 2-3 months and then I got another bad one. Not sure if it is bad luck or just a bad product.
