The good: The Sound Platform speaker dock will spoil you with its design details and extensive features, including Bluetooth support, FM radio, iPhone compatibility, a dedicated app, and remote control.
The bad: Sound quality doesn't hold together at high volumes, the app isn't worth your time, and the integrated screen is dim.
The bottom line: You'll have a hard time finding a more stylish and feature-packed speaker choice in this price range. The inclusion of Bluetooth support makes it an attractive buy for iPad and smartphone owners.

Great device, great customer service!
by mac3045 on January 24, 2011
Pros: It works great and its a lot cheaper than BOSE's products. I also love the boxy-design
The customer service of the company is superb! I couldn't locate a product at my local Target, and they reserved one for me!(within a day).Cons: You'll only find this at special Targets or at Amazon.
Seems a bit too heavy, and has no internal battery.Summary: Overall great product, exceeding my expectations.
The customer service of SoundFreaq is truly superb, I've had at least 30 emails between customer service and I in the past month.Summary: Overall great product, exceeding my expectations.

Summary: I have been using this a week now in conjunction with and iPhone4 and Macbook. The design and ease of use is excellent, my only criticism would be the storage door for the remote is a little flimsy.
At low volumes bluetooth streaming is perfectly acceptable, but interestingly the treble can get quite clipped at mid to high volumes. There is a noticeable difference between hardwiring/docking and bluetooth performance (obviously this is a restriction of bluetooth but its just a heads up).
It does work fine with MBP and iPhone for Spotify both wirelessly and iPhone docked. Notably you can control the iPhone/Spotify next and previous track function via the remote so docking for sound quality is not too much of an issue. -
Delivers good sound with a high-end look.
by ericcartman87 on October 2, 2011
Pros: A very good sound quality. Works very well with bluetooth- which is, to my opinion, one of its primary adventages. A very nice design, clean and imoressive. Has an AM\FM feature.
Cons: The most problematic thing is that I cannot mount my iPhone 3gs (according to the manual it should fit) using the special dock. Only when I remove any dock can the soundfreaq attach to my iphone and play it. Other than that, an additional am\fm antenna ho
Summary: I'm very happy with this product, although I would suggest to holdres of iphone 3gs and less to consider what I have written above.

Summary: This is a surprisingly nice unit. I say surprisingly because I never heard of the company but they've produced a really lovely piece of gear. The materia;s feel first rate and the unit has some heft. My guess it's because they use good speakers.
Aesthetically the controls are nice to use and there are subtle glowing orange accents when it's on. There's been some comment on the dimness of the control; panel but I don't think so. It's refreshing after having to tape over the super bright led's that manufacturers seem to sprinkle on their devices.
The design itself is more elegant in person. Thoroughly modern but evocative of radios of the 50s and 60s. Very subtle.
The sound is good - rich and full. It's better with a docked item (or aux in) but bluetooth is easy to use and can be convenient. Docked it has a warm but not muddy sound. Very nice.
To sum it up - it's nicer than you think - and priced very well. Slap bang olufson on it and the price goes up $300.00. -
Forget about Bose!

Pros: First and foremost the price is unbeatable. I love the design, the bluetooth feature, and of course the sound quality.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any downsides.

Summary: Just got the Sound Platform and I absolutely love it!! Before buying it I tried out the demo units at the store, and I honestly think this sounds every bit as good (if not better) than the comparable Bose models. And the price is unbelievable. I love old radios (particularly from the 60's and 70's) so the design of it really appeals to me. The look of it totally reminds me of those old radios, but yet it is sleek and modern looking at the same time. Plus the bluetooth feature is a big bonus. In the techie reviews I read the only criticism was that it loses some sound quality at higher volumes...but when I cranked it up I really didn't think there was any loss of sound quality. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You just can't do any better for this price range.

great features and good sound
by engnr1371 on May 23, 2011

Cons: blue tooth cuts out if you step imbetween devices and the range with my Iphone 4 is only about 15-18 feet

Summary: I was looking at this the bose sounddock 10 and the audysses ipod dock, the all have blue tooth but the bose does not have f/m radio or external controls. the soundfreaq has the worst sound but compared with similar priced docks it sounds good. some people have said that it cannot charge or play or whatever with the iphone 4 "not compatible" message but that is not true, and it streams pandora just fine. The other things may sound better but at $150 you can beat it.

Sounds and Looks Great!
by N509JB on January 2, 2011
Pros: I have an entire family of iDevices and it's great that someone has finally integrated the ability to stream via Bluetooth. Pairing is quick and easy and the sound is incredible. The look of the unit is very clean and modern.
Cons: The app isn't really useful as you can control what's being played via Bluetooth with the device. I'd expect SoundFreaq to update and/improve this. Dials are small, but once you're used to them, it's fine.
Summary: Overall this is a great product and would recommend it to anyone considering a similar Bose item. The look and sound can't be beat and the Bluetooth functionality won ...

Summary: There is no better speaker system for the money. I didn't know I needed all the features this provides until I got it, now I dont think i could settle for anything less.
I own an original video iPod and an iPad so the inclusion of Bluetooth was a huge selling point, and it does not dissapoint. The sound quality is simply amazing at this price and at that size. I will also have to disagree with the CNET point that the App isn't worth your time, because it has already been useful for me;
I was listening to radio while sitting away from the system with my iPad and wanted to listen to a song on my iPad. I didnt have the remote next to me so i pulled up the remote App, switched the Source to Bluetooth and pushed the song through the Airplay button on my iPad.
I got mine at my local Target which was nice because i was able to get a feel for the size and build quality in the store. Once I got this home, heard it with my own ears and test drove all of the features I almost felt like a fool for even considering one of the ridiculously priced name brand speaker systems that only offer a dock.
On a design note; i love the way it looks and the door on the side is a simple but thoughtful detail that should not go unnoticed. Also, i dont know if they intended for this (probably not) but i use this on my nightstand and the flat surface on top of the speaker allows things to be placed on top of it. So while the footprint may be bigger than some iPod docks, you really dont lose much surface area.
FInally, i had a question about this product and i sent an email to the support line i got off of their website. A real person emailed me back before the end of the day with the answer and he left the line of communication open in case i had anymore questions. I really appreciated that, and it made the desicion to purchase that much easier. I am so happy with Soundfreaq, and the Soundplatform is a winner in every category I can think of. -
This is the BT speaker to get, it's at Target now too
by KMemphis on December 3, 2010
Pros: Sound is really clean, vocals and bass all sound really good and the UQ3 makes it sound more like surround sound than a compact desktop speaker. Bluetooth is sweet, super simple to setup, we don't even use the dock, why would you?
Cons: The light behind the dock flashes when connected with Bluetooth, rather it just stayed on solid.
Summary: You can judge for yourself if you like the look of it (I liked the photos, and love the look on my shelf at home)... But you can't tell ...
Summary: You can judge for yourself if you like the look of it (I liked the photos, and love the look on my shelf at home)... But you can't tell how good sound is from a picture, so I wasn't sure, so I picked it up at Target to test it out.
I've tried a bunch of wireless speakers and even the non-wireless ones around $200 - $300, and this one is the one to get if you want great, clear sound. It's plenty loud, and if you compare to any other speaker, it holds it bass well at loud volumes with comparatively little distortion only at really, really loud levels (way too loud for my house at least)... What's really tight are vocals and guitar... all my music sounds great on it... I know a lot of people throw on hip-hop and rock to test audio, but I also like a little jazz, classical, country, acoustic... a little of everything, and everything is sounding great coming out of this little box. Couldn't be happier, and still can't believe it's $200, and with the wireless? This is the speaker for me.
