  Good package, poor documentation

  Pros: Visual effects are fantastic.

  Cons: Not easy to use. This software will do many things that Autosketch would not but the steps are not very intuitive. Reaching customer service/tech support to correct a problem with an activation code was difficult. Seems to be common problem.

  Manual is not well written and all the techies seem to struggle with the concept of explaining how to use what they've designed. I've been using Autosketch for some years and it is much easier to use. It's not as good with the graphics and 3D but for my application, it did just fine. I work mostly in 2D in the construction industry but couldn't use my version of Autosketch on Vista. I should have downgraded to XP and kept Autosketch. Sometimes I think these companies intentionally write the manual poorly to open the door for their buddies that put out the training videos/classes. They will waste three pages on a 'See Dick Run'(simple) concept and glaze over others that will take you 10 minutes to figure out. Surely someone out there is training good technical writers to help these guys out.
  
  The 1st Pricing concept seems to be a great one but haven't used it that much yet. For $80, Turbocad 15 Deluxe is not that expensive but don't do it when you're in a hurry to learn. The start up curve is painful. Give yourself a good month or so to mess with it or you'll get a little frustrated. I personally don't like the whole model space/paper space concept-I'm used to putting the pieces of the drawing on the sheet where I want them so I don't have to mess with paper space. If you don't need the features of this package, look at a sketch package. You might be much happier. I struggle with the claim that this is the most popular package out there.
