The good: Text-to-speech and very accurate GPS navigation make getting around with the JVC KW-NX7000 easy. The touch-screen interface is intuitive and responsive, with a proximity sensor that displays touch areas as your hand approaches the device. The SD card slot for digital audio is superfast and superconvenient.
The bad: Browsing music stored on an iPod is painfully slow. Bluetooth hands-free calling requires the purchase and installation of an additional module.
The bottom line: With clever applications of a wide range of features, the JVC KW-NX7000 is one of the few GPS navigation receivers that we've actually had fun testing.

Amazing bundle of features for the price
by Telafonic on November 14, 2010
Pros: Navigation is precise, and quick to pick up a signal. Audio options are amazing. It plays WAV files! It uses SD or thumb drive, CD or aux input or MP3 DVD or CD, or even an ipod! It shows photos I just took on the screen via SD. Detachable face!
Cons: Navigation doesn't tell you which side of the road something is on. Long indexing time for MP3, and it happens at every startup. Bluetooth cord could be longer. It gives you a message if you're maps are out of date.
Summary: This unit is stellar. If you play a lot of MP3 you might not think so, but otherwise it's incredible the features it has. DVD's look great. You ...
Summary: This unit is stellar. If you play a lot of MP3 you might not think so, but otherwise it's incredible the features it has. DVD's look great. You will never not have enough input methods. I can load up pictures I just took on my camera, and check them out on the screen. It does work with SDHC cards although it doesn't state that. You can fill a DVD with MP3 and play from there. Not many units do DVD MP3. HD Radio is reliable and works well (optional). Oh and bluetooth comes with this unit, so the CNET review criticism is irrelevant.
It has traffic monitoring! (optional)
There is no other unit currently on the market that is double DIN with this many feature and a detachable face. I am going to sell my car and I'm saddened that the new car doesn't have a double DIN to fit this wonderful unit into. -
Waay long in the tooth

Pros: Nice looking and simply awesome sound
Cons: OMG where to begin...
1. GPS maps are way out of date even with November 2009 update. iPod functionality is so slow as to be unusable even with a modest amount of music on a half-filled iPod. -
Awesome receiver/GPS/DVD player!! JVC did it RIGHT!!
by blacksnake03 on December 3, 2009
Pros: CUSTOM WELCOME/GOODBYE MESSSAGE, STATION NAMING, FAST AND ACCURATE CALCULATION, USB PORT, READS MANY FILE TYPES, MOTION SENSOR FOR HAND, EASY INSTALL (DO IT YOURSELF), CUSTOM COLORS/BACKGROUNDS, ETC.
Cons: MAIN RADIO SCREEN DOES NOT HAVE A LIST TO CHOOSE YOUR PRESET (LIKE THE AVIC-N1 HAD). You have to touch the "list" screen to pull it up or simply touch "up" or "down" to get to your preset. NO BIG DEAL THO.
Summary: I did a lot of searching for a double din GPS/DVD player. I had one of the first out on the market (PIONEER AVIC-N1) back in 2001 or so ...
Summary: I did a lot of searching for a double din GPS/DVD player. I had one of the first out on the market (PIONEER AVIC-N1) back in 2001 or so and since then have never regretted spending (at the time) $2100 on it. So now in 2009 I have a new car and had a double DIN, so i wanted to get the most out of it. I always though of JVC as one of the cheapest brands Best Buy or Crutchfield would carry, so I stayed away. Until now. I love it! You get so much more functionality for a lower price than the "better name" brands. There's nothing that compares to it at the moment (December 09). I installed it in ONE night in my 2003 Mustang Cobra (Mach 460 stock) and although i have to run speaker wire to my mid/sub speakers (Mach 460/1000 is not compatible with aftermarket stuff), it's well worth it. The station naming, custom colors, multitude of options for sources, custom messages to greet you and say goodbye to you, motion sensor, fast calculations, etc. etc. all make this thing awsome and much better than the AVIC-N1 (or, for that matter, anything on the market today). I bought it refurbished for $550. It came in lookin brand new. I got no complaints (except for the one small "con" above). USB devices are so cheap nowadays, you basically have unlimited storage for music. I keep the usb in the glovebox and let the radio do its thing. Not much more to say, except I'm very happy with the purchase.

Lots of features, but lacking refinement.

Pros: Ton's of features. Detachable face, Divx, SD playback...

Summary: The product is very good and the navigation is spot on. Contrary to what the Cnet review says Divx can be played off the USB and SD, the manual states as long as it is under 2Mb/sec encoding rate. Video's over that rate will still play but become jerky and skip slightly under higher rates. My biggest gripe with the unit is that when switching to a source like SD or USB the unit has to reindex. This includes when using the bluetooth and a call the call ends the source needs to be reindexed before playback will resume.

Works as designed and promised. Good product.
by drkev on January 22, 2009
Pros: Easy to install. Intuitive controls. Lots of flexibility with input sources. I've used JVC products in my vehicles for over 20 years and I have never been disappointed. Lots of power, clean video and navigator works.
Cons: I've gotten used to TomTom navigation and this one has a few slight differences. It's a tad pricey at first glance, but once you consider all the features and flexibility, it's competitive with similar, more expensive units.
Summary: I will continue to own and recommend JVC car electronics to my friends, including this one.
