Cons: Sometimes showing wrong direction. Infrequent and inaccurate map update. Screen glare.

Summary: Bought my 3030LM in June 2011, so far had only ONE update in February 2012. There is a major new road in my neighbourhood which was opened in Feb 2011. The Feb 2012 update did not show this new road. Will wait and see the next update which I do not know when is coming.I bought this 3030LM for $100 - a good price. But the product and its FREE map update are so disappointing. I bought a Garmin 1390 LMT at Costco for about $140. Though more expensive and screen smaller , this one has better and more features ( blue tooth, traffic, zoomed view at highway exits etc.) and more accurate and updated map. DO NOT BUY 3030LM.
Pros: Good screen size, easy to read, POI's useful, lifetime maps
Cons: Can't trust map updates, voice is hard to understand, navigation sometimes off the mark or doesn't pick the best route.

Summary: This device got better reviews when I bought it about a year ago. I chose this one for the screen size, lifetime maps and AAA/points of interest. Now it seems the map updates are questionable at best. POI's are pretty good and useful. The voice is hard to understand because there are no breaks/pauses between the route number, street name, town name, etc. That's really aggrevating since the screen displays a slash between each piece of information. Obviously the software knows but doesn't pass that intellegence on to the voice unit. But the worst feature is not being able to trust the directions. This unit maps a route to our home that would take you thru a private dirt road. On several occasions, it has plotted a route that we know to be longer and slower. On a few occasions, it has plotted a route to the wrong location. Only because I double check the route with another source (whenever possible) will we continue to use it until the next major improvements come along. But I won't recommend this unit to anyone.
Cons: Very hard to see screen when up on dash in daylight (for best reception) Then have to turn down bright screen at night (if anywhere in front of you) Map data WAY out of date, map data file in my unit (v41) has a date in year 2000! I purchased my 3030LM f

Summary: If your going to buy this unit make sure the map version is v43 (newest map). Then you will be good for a few years. I would not trust the Lifetime Map or 30 Day map guarantee, the web site lies and tells you "device is up to date" then waits a few months and charges you for new map. This is my experience with Magellan and only my opinion.
