The good: The Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM Traveler features lifetime map updates and traffic data. The TourDirector feature lets users browse local attractions, set itineraries, and optimize travel time from the unit's menus. Wi-Fi connectivity allows users to browse the Web and update the unit's software.
The bad: Destinations in the TourDirector can only be viewed based on proximity, not rating or popularity. The included Web browser isn't ideal for extended browsing.
The bottom line: In addition to being a solid navigator for the price, the Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM Traveler also packs a few features to help users to plan vacations and explore attractions in unfamiliar cities.

Colossal Waste of Money! Buy *anything* else!

Pros: None. Seriously.
Cons: Took at least 10 minutes each time to program an address due to sluggishness. Often had to turn the unit off and then on again because it would "hang." Nearly unresponsive touch screen. Directions lag behind my actual position.

When I attempted to contact customer service the first several times, they told me to have patience and that a fix was coming. When my patience grew thin, they offered to replace it with a unit that costs half as much. Then they simply stopped responding to anything, much like the GPS unit.
It took a complaint to the BBB to get a response. The response was sending me a new unit. That has EXACTLY the same problems as the unit I was complaining about.
Essentially I bought a $300 doorstop. It has no other use. The most satisfaction I've gotten out of it was smashing it on a rock today.
Save your money and buy something that works.

Pros: It only took 15 minutes to get customer service to agree to a full refund including shipping.
Cons: 45 miutes to reach tech support, an hour and a half with the techie, and NO solution to the problem.
Speed limits ONLY work on freeways - and they are wrong there!
Lane assist was disabled by the last software update, no idea when it will be update

Summary: It simply does NOT work as advertised, you can't reach tech support in a reasonable amount of time and when you do reach them they can't seem to figure out what the problem is in order to fix it.
Speed limits are important in town as well as the freeway, that's generally where the signs hide behind vehicles and bushes, but Magellan thinks we only need them on freeways.
Software updates block lane assist from working but they can't tell me how long it will be before they issue a fix, even though it's a 'known problem' according to tech support.
All in all this unit was a total waste of time, energy, and money.

Summary: I had never used a GPS prior to owning this unti. i gbought it around Chroistmas for $60 shipped. It was cheap, adn I had an upcomming driving trip that included navigating Miami. I thought it would take the pressure off.
My wife adn i really enjoyed the trip more because we could trust the GPS to navigate for us. not worrying about keeping up with exits and such. The ding to tell you to make you road change is a very nice feature. The fuel station finder is nice too. I would not spring for a built in nav system from the car companies. But I will never be with out one of these portable units again.

Worked P E R F E C T on my 2500 mile trip ! ! !

Cons: The windshield mount, kept falling off the windshield. No 110v ac adapter to charge it.
Summary: Third Magellan GPS unit I have had. First was the Roadmate 760, then the Roadmate 2200t, now the 5175t-LM. Hope it hold up as well as the have.
