The good: The TomTom Go's glass capacitive touch screen is super-responsive and does a good job of showing off the updated interface's crisp graphics. TomTom's menu structure receives a major overhaul and is now much easier to use. Bluetooth hands-free calling, free traffic and map updates, and voice command for control and address entry round out a strong feature set.
The bad: The voice command system doesn't feature onscreen prompts or much spoken guidance, leaving users to check the manual to learn what commands are available. While much easier to use, TomTom's interface can still be a bit confusing and overwhelming as new users learn their way around.
The bottom line: The new Go 2405 TM and 2505 TM are among the best GPS devices that TomTom has ever made, packing loads of useful features into a handsome chassis for a pretty good price.
Best TomTom to date.
by TomS1222 on December 5, 2010
Pros: Best screen resolution of any TomTom.On Par or even better than Garmin 3700 units Quick and precise Routing. Strong GPS signal. Excellent mounting system.Loud and crisp Speaker.
Fast Traffic system better than the Garmin Traffic with pop up ads.
Cons: Voice commands limited and somewhat confusing.
No Back button to get to the previous screen like Garmin has.
No SD or Micro SD slot

Summary: Overall the Pro's outweigh the Con's and TomTom has produced a High Quality product. The 4GB internal storage is plenty of space for US, Canada, Mexico and even Europe maps if you are so inclined. There really is no need for additional storage. This is after all a Navigation device and not an I-Pod. If you want to upload MP3's than do it on an MP3 player. For Maps and updates this unit has plenty of space. Up to Par with the Garmin 3790 unit which I also considered but personally I prefer the TomTom interface to Garmins. Besides the TomTom 2505tm is about $180.00 cheaper than the 3790lmt.

Nothing but problems. Worst GPS I ever owned.
by jc47727 on May 21, 2012
Pros: NONE, cant say one good thing about the unit or the company.
Cons: Purchased my GPS in Jan of 2011. Had the unit replaced twice in one year. After the one year warranty ran out and my third unit quit working right, they said there was nothing they could do about it.
Summary: I will never buy anything from TOMTOM again. I would not recommend that anyone else does either, unless you have money to waist. Customer sevrice is super slow. They will ...

I like it but would like to see more content added.
by lendlv on March 4, 2012
Pros: Big screen, good graphics, fairly accurate maps. Updates using the Internet based function works well, but only when TomTom decides to send updates, which is very infrequent. Used it in Florida and it worked well there.
Cons: Very poor ability to add any additional content. Very infrequently updated by TomTom. Doesn't work with the computer based app that is used to update most other TomTom devices. Battery doesn't last long when not plugged in. Fairly heavy.
Avoid this unit unless you don't want to do any updates

Pros: Big and bright screen.
Interface is nice, very easy to navigate thru the menu
Cons: Charging plug is not standard usb, you will need to buy from Tomtom if you need to replace the one that came if the unit.
Most of the features are not implemented yet.
Update from tomtom websites is not working.

Summary: Got this unit for one month, was working great until I decided to do a update. Followed the instructions and with 11% to the finish, it crash. Try many time to update, having the same problem. Unit boot up but say "no maps found". Returned to the store and exchanged to a Garmin.
Search the internet for "Update Tomtom Go problems" and you will see that there's a huge problem with there software. Tomtom decided to make this unit available before the Online Update application is ready.

Cons: Bit of a steep learning curve, still haven't learned how to enter and submit Map Corrections. Sometimes wants to take you on a different route then the one you KNOW is the best, but the unit is SELF LEARNING so corrects itself the next time you want to g

Cons: Can lead you astray in Nevada.

Summary: How can this top of the line unit not perform the most basic task required of a Bluetooth enabled GPS device - namely turning itself on when the ignition is turned on and clearing the legal warning. You must hold the power switch down for a 4-count, wait for the unit to boot up, and press the Done button to clear the legal warning every single time you start your car. This makes the unit completely useless as a hands free phone device, as you'll quickly get tired of this and not bother to turn it on unless you're specifically intending to navigate with it. This also significantly diminishes the overall usefulness of the unit since you won't get traffic warnings, or have the map handy to refer to should you need to make a detour or check your location. It also makes the unit less safe to operate as you'll find yourself fumbling through this start up process while you're driving should you need to use it on the fly.
I also find the search process to be much more cumbersome than my Garmin unit. It seems to me that it requires more steps than the Garmin to run a search. With my Garmin I could enter an address and street name, or the name of a POI and set it to work. It would then pull up a list of search results starting with the one nearest me. Whether down the street, or in another city. When searching for a POI with the GO2505 I need to first tell it whether I am searching for a location near me or a location in another city. ( Really???). I also had issues with it showing me results near my home, even though I was across the country in Vegas at the time. (I'm sure this had more to do with me getting used to the unit, but was still annoying nonetheless .)
Another big deficiency vs the Garmin is in the way it shows you your search results. Unlike the Garmin it doesn't show you the relative direction of your search results. Sure it shows me which McDonalds is closest to me, but it doesn't tell me if it's in the direction I'm traveling or if it's behind me. Also unlike the Garmin, when it shows you a map of your destination you cant scroll the map or zoom it to check if it's indeed the location you want to go to before you confirm it.
the suction mount keeps losing it's grip on the same disk as my Garmin was attached to - it just seems to heavy.
The unit has just shut off by itself without warning a few times while navigating - it turns back on without fiddling with the power cable, and it doesn't give a "power disconnected" or "low battery" warning before going dark, so I assume it's not simply a loose connection.
Annoying peculiarities with the display - "next exit" and "traveling on" text is too small and undefined...default information displayed is lacking.
All in all this unit is very disappointing. I'll miss the responsiveness of the glass touch screen, but I'm switching back to Garmin. This $260 unit can't do the most basic of things that my $120 Garmin can.
Loning it so far

The new maps over write the old maps .
The voice commands are listed on the main menu under help. A complete list !
$300 for this device is a steal. Love it ! Yes some day you will replace it as any other electronic device but not due to lack of storage .
Do not buy this product until they fix all bugs.

Summary: I have purchased the tom tom go 2505 and it came with life time Map updates and which I'm sure were included in the price of the unit, that's why I feel some sort of composition, I feel mislead by Tom Tom and have lost all respect for the company, I'm on my 3rd unit from Tom Tom the problem with the last one is I never got the gas price updates that I paid for that account is under firstname.lastname@example.org I have not received any updates from tom tom since I purchased the unit back April. Furthermore the whole reason for me buying this product was for the life time Map Updates. I was told by a supervisor at Tom Tom that I would receive my Map Updates on the 3rd of June here it is the 3rd and still have not received any updates from Tom Tom, they acknowledged that my Map was out of date and needed to be updated, and told me they were having problems with the Tom Tom Software, then I get an e-mail from Patrick telling me Tom Tom does not have a release date for the outdated Map? Can someone please give the correct information, I would have to believe that this fallows under the category of false advertisement because of my reasoning for purchasing the product was specifically for the Life Tim Map Updates which I'm not receiving. And I'm sure many others were under the same assumptions when buying the Go 2505 they wouldn't have any problems getting there Life Tim Map Updates.
