  Fits like a glove, shock protection, & looks nice.

  Pros: This case fit like a glove, has pads to keep the laptop in suspended animation inside the case and provide shock protection, looks nice, is full of gee whiz pockets & features without overdoing it, and providing true functionality, and looks nice.

  Cons: The Logitech Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase wins on durability of the outside case, ease of setting it down upright, and nice oversized pockets for bulky items (like an adaptor).

  Summary: First, I looked at the universe of cases available for my new 14" laptop. I knew I was looking for a case that would do double duty as a small briefcase (I will still get a rolling briefcase as well for when I have too much to put in this briefcase. I have had nice briefcases in the past (even a Rosewood one), and I have a small computer case now, but I was looking for a highly advanced, organized case, which was also very customized for the specific purpose of carrying a 14" laptop. One reason I chose a 14" laptop instead of a 15.4" laptop, is for portability (not weight, but size). Also, I viewed smaller as better as long as there was a full sized keyboard. Similarly, I saw a small sized case as better, as long as it was big enough for the computer & accessories, and still function as a small briefcase. I also wanted it to have a professional style. Moreover, being able to stand up without falling over when it was put on the ground was also a plus, but an easily overlooked and important plus, which I would not ordinarily think about until I needed it. I also wanted a snug fit, which would provide some shock protection for the computer. This case fit like a glove, has pads to keep the laptop in suspended animation inside the case and provide shock protection, looks nice, is full of gee whiz pockets & features without overdoing it, and providing true functionality, and looks nice.
  
  The other 2 cases I had narrowed down to in the top 3 were:
  
  1. Logitech Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase (Logitech Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase), and
  2. Victorinox Architecture 2.0 Wainwright Attache Brief (Victorinox Swiss Army Architecture 2.0 Wainwright Attache Brief)
  
  I actually also bought the Logitech Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase to compare it to the Targus. The Kinetik wins on durability of the outside case, ease of setting it down upright, and nice oversized pockets for bulky items (like an adaptor). If I were getting a 15.4" computer or travelling more, the Kinetik would be a closer competitor. However, because I have a 14" computer, need the case more for business than for travel, and because of all the nice features of the Targus, I choose the Targus over the Kinetik. Also, the Kinetik may have better outside protection, but that outside protection looks like it could be easily scratched, and does not have the pads the Targus has for suspending the computer inside the case. Also, the red label on the Kinetik is distracting.
  
  As for the Victorinox Architecture 2.0 Wainwright Attache Brief, it is very expensive, and larger than what I need. Maybe if I get some money to blow I will try it, but not until then.
