WHERE IS MY WORK? AAAAAARRRGH
by cmerritt on August 20, 2012
Pros: LIKE THE VIDEO STABILIZATION, THE TIMELINE, THE ABILITY TO PLUG IN MY MUSIC WHEREVER I WANTED.
Cons: AFTER 10 hra. hard work PUTTING TOGETHER VIDEO/SLIDESHOW COMPILATION, ONE WRONG CLICK (unsure which IT WAS, BUT IT WAS VERY WRONG) it disappeared into the unknown. 10 HOURS of my life wasted! Searched all over my computer-no luck. Poor investment!
Summary: PLEASE - SOMEBODY help me find something that actually works and doesn't bankrupt me. And thanks.

NOT Like the Older Versions of ROXIO Easy CD Creator!
by TJStringer on April 22, 2012
Pros: Included are a sound editor, which could be useful for working on audio.
Cons: The biggest problem with this software is the file format that this program supports. Another big problem - this program took so long to install (even off a CD) that it seemed the computer crashed. It did install and is working.
Summary: I bought this program when I purchased my new HP computer in 2010. I did not get around to installing it until now and what a mistake! I had been ...
Summary: I bought this program when I purchased my new HP computer in 2010. I did not get around to installing it until now and what a mistake! I had been using the old Easy CD Creator, which was far more easier to use. And it was not concerned with creating its own file format. This new program uses the .dmse file format, which it created to be able to edit or burn onto cds. The problem is no other sound editor or any other program can open these files! They force you to use their format. The program will not allow you to save any file in a format other than .dmse. I would like to put some mp3 files onto a player, but this program doesn't support that file format. BOOO! I'm going to have to find another program to burn onto a cd or mp3 player that would allow you to record either mp3 files or wave files. Or I may just go back to using the old program.

Doesn't play Canon MOV files, doesn't read TiVo files
by nmasika on August 1, 2011
Pros: None. But I have to enter more than 10 characters.
Cons: Does not do what is advertised.

Summary: I purchased Roxio Creator 2011 in order to be able to burn TiVo programs to DVD. I followed the instructions precisely as documented on both the TiVo and Roxio sites. I was able to transfer the programs from my TiVo box to my TiVo Desktop and play them back but Roxio refused to recognize them indicating the files were DRM protected. TiVo support said if I can transfer them to my TiVo Desktop, there is no DRM problem. Roxio support kept giving me the runaround, kept having me do the same things over and over again (that were ineffective), and frustrating me to the point where I gave up on them. I believe they are trained to purposefully do this rather than admit that their product does not perform as advertised. I am very technically savvy - this is not user error.
Rather than pressing for a refund, I thought I would use the product to edit videos produced by my Canon 5D2. I don't take videos often but thought it would be nice to edit a few clips together. I have the same problem described by other reviewers - I get about 10 seconds of audio and then the audio drops. Plays back perfectly in Quicktime; doesn't work in Roxio. Sounds familiar: plays back perfectly in TiVo Desktop, doesn't work in Roxio.
This company should be ashamed of themselves producing software that doesn't work and giving their customers the runaround with useless customer support. What a piece of junk. Stay away from this company and its software. -
Did not like the previous version
by j0717 on May 28, 2011
Pros: Can copy a music CD, but what tool can't
Cons: Hard to use and don't like ti running as a service. Would perfer to just start it when I want to use it.
Summary: To many problems with an older version to pay for an upgrade.

Bad Product, Worse support
by MnOldPaint on April 21, 2011
Pros: Price - though that has been buried by the ZERO value of the product.
Cons: TERRIBLE SUPPORT ... And Trust me, a product this bad needs A LOT OF SUPPORT JUST TO GET IT INSTALLED. Shame on me for buying another Roxio product; shame on Sonic/Roxio for not learning any lessons.
Summary: After a days of back and forth with Roxio, I finally was able to install Creator 2011 on my Win 7 Ultimate PC. The support people did not bother to ...
Summary: After a days of back and forth with Roxio, I finally was able to install Creator 2011 on my Win 7 Ultimate PC. The support people did not bother to read any of the information I sent them (at their request), and provided suggestions for other operating systems and other issues. Unforgivably bad.
The trick that finally worked; create a new user account and install with that.
NOW I am spending countless hours trying to get it to work. I can't make any videos without audio sync problems. And I continue to get HORRIBLE advice. Wish me Luck.
Your best bet - DO NOT GET STARTED WITH ROXIO... THEY HAVE BARGAIN PRICES FOR A REASON>>> ITS CRAP> -
More "in your pocket" software - Waste of money
by TheFeaz on February 21, 2011
Pros: Adequate software for the beginner if you get it bundled free with your hardware
Cons: Limited functionality for the price; too expensive to buy a la carte when there are free products out there that do more, and do it better, for no money at all.
Summary: This, like many of these types of products today, used to be a great product. Now like Windows, they break it up into a million pieces and overcharge you for ...
Summary: This, like many of these types of products today, used to be a great product. Now like Windows, they break it up into a million pieces and overcharge you for every one of them. It's probably not such a bad product for Mom & Pop or the kids, who want to create cute little DVDs of the family trip this summer. If you're an enthusiast who wants to learn anything at all about digital photography and post-production, you'll find it WAY too limited and by the time you spend $30-$50 each for the little "accessories" to do neat little effects, you'll find that you would have done better to go out and buy a full-blown professional piece of photo / video editing software.
As a professional software developer, I understand all too well the idea that software has to make you money or you won't bother to write it. On the other hand, as a hobbyist / enthusiast turned professional, I also understand the inate value in making fully functional, robust software freely (or cheaply / reasonably priced) available to the enthusiast / amateur in the general public. Some of the best pros in the industry are born of amateurs who gained skill and enthusiasm for the art by "playing" with the professional products. The industry discourages those would-be professionals, who are worth a lot to them down the road, and frankly ENCOURAGE software piracy, by crippling products or piece-mealing / overcharging for products with mediocre functionality. IMHO, it's being penny-wise and pound foolish... Just my two cents, but then... What do I know?
The bottom line - Don't buy this. Go search for "Best free DVD authoring" on Google. -
Not worth the time or money
by joer1512 on December 12, 2010
Pros: None that I am awere of
Cons: I have been with Roxio's so called tech support for two weeks now. They gave me many different work arounds to install the program. I still have not been able to install the program and all its functions.
Summary: A program that claims to work on Windows7 should do that. I have yet to be able to install this one and have it work correctly. Tech support has been ...
Summary: A program that claims to work on Windows7 should do that. I have yet to be able to install this one and have it work correctly. Tech support has been full of different work-a-rounds. Why do I need to spend 30 minutes getting the computer ready to install a program only to find out it does not work. It has been two weeks now and still no solutions. Question: if a program has so many work-a-rounds is it one with a lot of issues to start. Roxio 2009 and 2010 were great, 2011 has a looooong way to go. The bottom line is, get the program to work then put it out on the market. Do not try and market a beta program as not one and have users refine it for you after they have paid full price for it.

It won't process MOV files from various Canon Cameras
by psmallri on December 3, 2010
Pros: Ease of use and flexibilty
Cons: 2011 is backward step from 2011 and there is not much difference in functionality

Summary: I've been having long discussions with Roxio Support as their latest 2011 Software will not process MOV files correctly from my SX10is. I'm also aware that other Canon cameras produce the same problem. The same MOV file, from the same camera, on the same PC, on the same Operating System works fine in the previous release Roxio2010.
I'm not expecting anyone to miraculously come up with a solution for Roxio Support (I've sent them a sample MOV file and they have even reproduced the problem - they just can't seem to fix it) but I'm just making anyone aware that the current Roxio2011 has issues with all sorts of Canon cameras for processing MOV files.
Cheers.

Pros: not sure if it is better
Cons: also not sure
Summary: Had very bad experience trying to upgrade a Nero package. Would Roxio be any better for Windows 7?
