The good: The LG Encore is slim and lightweight. Features include a 3-megapixel camera, 3G, and a music player. It's affordable as well.
The bad: The LG Encore's touch screen is not as responsive as we would like, and its performance can be rather sluggish and inconsistent.

An OK phone for a good price
by happygirl912 on March 9, 2012

Summary: This is a good "feature" phone for those who want the touchscreen capabilities without getting an android smartphone. It is decently priced ($99.99 through AT&T pay as you go). Texting is a little harder due to the restrictive touchscreen and the web browser is not the best. If you don't text a lot or search the web very often then this phone is the right one for you. The $50.00 a month unlimited plan is a great deal (through AT&T). I would highly recommend this phone to people who are looking for a feature phone that is decently priced.

Summary: I got this phone in June. The longer I have it, the more I hate it. I went from the iPhone and Motorola Backflip to this, and I miss the keyboard. Touch screen is really unresponsive. Works on occasion. I had to get the app on my iTouch and use that as a phone now because this one rarely works. Entire towns are dead zones, while my sister is standing right next to me with a perfect signal. Microphone doesn't work, drops calls, doesn't receive texts. terrible phone.

Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I love it.
by LunaBlack on July 4, 2011
Pros: Very light, fits in just about any pocket[even tight jeans! lol] and it is VERY durable. Even though it has been, for lack of a better word, thrown half way across a street, multiple times, the screen still survives with just a few scratches. I've had thi
Cons: Phone can lag like no one else at times, it likes to reboot itself occasionally, and now it's starting to fail seeing my sim card. The tiny memory is irritating, especially the limited amount of space for text messages.

Summary: I hate and love this phone for various reasons, it has served it's purpose over the last 7 months reasonably well., you just really have to have patience and learn how to get around things. If your one of those people then sure, get it.. But if your one of those people who want things to work perfectly[or near] then don't, you'll see yourself wanting to annihilate this phone.

Frustrating phone

Pros: Pretty, nice graphics, not too complicated.
Cons: MANY!! No instruction book, instructions on DVD making it necessary to go to computer to answer any questions about the phone. Touchscreen is AWFUL! I can't scroll my contacts without it calling every time I touch to scroll! Touchscreen too sensitive. C
Summary: Going back asap! I'll be more thorough when picking out my next phone. I do not recommend this phone.

Summary: This is BY FAR the worst cell phone i have ever had! The texting is HORRIBLE! And the touch screen is so slow. I miss my old brick phone which is sad. Whenever i would be typing a text, and i would get another incoming text it wouldnt let me go back to the text i was recently typing. I would get a message that said "Message is Being Sent" Or some nonsense like that. And then i would have to start over! The touch screen sucks. It is way slow and has to catch up to what im doing..
The alarms you set up, never go off. When im trying to call someone the screen will go blank and i'd have to turn it off and restart it. I have to restart my phone like 45 times just to make a simple call! This is ridiculous. This phone should be taken off the market. Its terrible and makes me stress oout. -
Cool for the first 10 minutes
by Jakesan on December 22, 2010
Pros: The Encore is very sleek and lightweight. Sometimes, I forget it's in my pocket. It also has a great camera and a diverse range of features, like a scientific calculator, Bluetooth, unit converter, etc.
Beware of everything else.....Cons: The touchscreen is horrible. Definitely the worst i've ever experienced. Also, the phone is very sluggish and often lags far behind what I'm doing, (which is usually just trying to make a phone call!)

Summary: Really, this phone has an awful touchscreen. I always have to physically apply pressure for it to recognize that it is being touched. It also lacks precision which can't be fixed, no matter how many times it is calibrated. Sometimes, not even the buttons work! Occasionally, when I am being called, this happens:
-Phone rings
-screen is black
-buttons unresponsive
-touchscreen, as usual, doesn't work
-how do you answer?
Simple. I DON"T! *** is this phone's problem? To fix this, i have to remove the battery and restart the phone. Which is a pain itself because there is no way to remove the back without a laser cutter due to LG not putting any type of grip on the cover plate.
One other feature that originally attracted me to the phone was how I could plug in my 3.5 mm earbuds into it, instead of having to go buy a pair of crappy $25 headphones designed for the phone specifically. I was immediately disappointed, because the sound quality really sucks. It is bad. Distortion and everything. No, it isn't my earbuds.
Aesthetically, the phone is very pleasing, and it does have a great camera and call clarity is good. However, everything else makes this phone a train wreck with LG's logo on the front.
Don't buy! DO NOT WANT! -
I hate this phone.
by colonelflagg on December 14, 2010
Pros: Light and small.
Cons: Everything else. Touch screen is terrible, texting is a nightmare, the horizontal/vertical orientation rarely works properly. Navigation is horrible overall.
Summary: A cheesy, poorly engineered iPhone wannabe. Steer clear.
