The good: The LG Extravert has a comfortable keyboard, Android-like customization options for the homescreen, and quirky extras like a graphing and eco-calculator.
The bad: The Extravert’s unresponsive screen is irritating, its smooth backing makes it difficult to grip, and there’s no designated call button.
The bottom line: Aside from a few design flaws and a poor touchscreen, the LG Extravert is a solid feature phone that can execute basic tasks reliably and has good call quality.

Summary: A really nice phone. I had never really had any issues when it came to the cosmos touch, but I do agree that this has the same design (someone else had said) and it is faster. It otherwise is the same as the Cosmos Touch. No new features. Just fixing glitches that apparently plagued the last device, but that I never noticed.

Great phone for people who don't want a smartphone.
by jarrett178 on December 30, 2011
Pros: The touchscreen is amazing(calibrate it though), and the web is fast for the price. Facebook loads very quickly. Call quality is great I asked my friend how I sounded who talking on it and he said just like the house phone.
Cons: Battery life. I got the phone yesterday(12/29/11) and fully charged it and when I woke up at 6:00am this morning and I only have 3 bars(but its nothing major).
Summary: I got this phone for $100 at Radio Shack.

OK since I have had this phone a good 3 months I thought I would update my review.
I cannot complain about the camera it takes great pictures for a 2.0 megapixel and it also records videos.(It depends on the room lighting mostly on how great the camera is though).
This phone is app capable and can play YouTube videos. I have not tried that though(I've only had the phone for 12 hours). Reviews I have read say that YouTube when played on the phone is good.
Remember this is not a smartphone. So if you get it please keep an open mind. Don't get it if you want to have a personal computer as a phone.

An update has been sent out to fix the memory issue
YouTube plays OK for a $100 dollar phone running 1X. Keep in mind since the touchscreen is kinda small it can get a little choppy and blurry.
To get you SD card working if you have problems put it in your phone first and format it before put anything on it. I did that and there have been no problems.
If you are having problems with the phone sending small pictures take a picture, save it, hit edit, save it again and send the new one.
My biggest complaint is the battery life. If you are a heavy user: From experience I have to charge it every 12-24 hours and keep a wall charger with me in my bookbag.(I am in college) If you dont use it as much the battery should last 3-5 days.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

I'm happy after 3 weeks. Lot to learn in my own time.
by Phyzzie09 on October 25, 2012
Pros: Upgraded from a Razor flip phone (4 years & happy) with a 450 min plan & NO Data. This phone is great for learning to text. My touchscreen (calibrated) works great as does the keyboard. Yes, I must have my glasses on. Voice command works fine.
Cons: Nothing so far, still learning. Did get a rubberized case to avoid the "very slippery" issue.

Summary: I researched this phone & similar for 5 months. Glad I decided on this one. I also converted from a Verizon contract after 4 years to the $50 unlimited for talk & text. Email, web, FB & YouTube are just extras for me. I stayed with Vzw for the coverage & have only had great customer service via land line or online. This phone suits my new needs as I don't want to answer my phone in the grocery store. I charge it every odd 3rd day after med - heavy talk/text. The mobile email app loaded onto the phone expired - you must pay for that easy one. But spent 1 hr from my landline with a Vzw tech & got my email saved "the long way around" & now it's easy to use.
If you're like me & just want to talk & text with the occasional web or email, I recommend this phone. I did call Vzw as I opened the clam shell & had them walk me through everything to activate as I know nothing about phones. Bought it on promo for $70 + $50 1st month unlimited.
Camera works fine for what it is. Haven't used the video. I have a great digital camera for all that. I like this phone & am happy. -
Keeps you organized! Great old-fashioned/modern blend.
by mbradar2 on September 6, 2012
Pros: *Voice Command actually does things
*Text Conversation Bubbles instead of separate Inbox/Sent folders
*Customizable Menu - can drag anything onto home screen: Calendar, Contact, etc.
*Drawing Pad!
*advanced calculator (does trig & logs!)Cons: *No convenient "To-Do List" like there was on my previous LG Cosmos
Summary: Pros (Continued):
*Can choose to have it vibrate every time you type
*Can set a unique ringtone AND a unique text message alert for each contact
The most high-tech feature ...Summary: Pros (Continued):
Oh and I forgot to mention one more thing: the keyboard is a lot easier to use than my LG Cosmos one. I can see where the other poster on here is coming from in saying that one can hit two keys at a time and that can get annoying but for me the lack of much space between letters makes it flow better so that I can type faster and with more easy than having to press down each letter hard.
*Can choose to have it vibrate every time you type
*Can set a unique ringtone AND a unique text message alert for each contact
The most high-tech feature of any phone I've ever had is it having a flip-out keyboard - no touch screens, no data plans, etc. nothing too out of the ordinary - so I guess by today's standards even a 20-some-year-old girl who doesn't have an iPhone is considered "old-fashioned." I use my phone primarily for texting, calendar/alarms, and jotting down notes. I picked up this phone for $50 at my university (student discount) because it was the only other one they had with a flip-out keyboard besides the one I already owned. I've had it for less than a day now and it's absolutely fantastic - I was expecting a phone similar to my old LG Cosmos except I knew this one would have a touch screen, which I was wary about, but it exceeded my expectations and it's still a basic, easy-to-phone but with a lot better/cooler tools and features, so that's why I think it's a perfect blend of old-fashioned and modern for people like me!
It certainly makes my hectic life more organized so I'm less stressed. I use my calendar a ton because as a student I have classes and other school-related events to keep track of every day and as an employee I have meetings and deadlines to keep track of. The fact that this phone's Voice Command actually reads out the events on the Calendar is so perfect for me, especially when I'm driving and need a quick reminder of what's going on that day without having to dangerously look away from the streets and at my phone - it just reads it to me! Also, having the option to "Search" for something in my Notes is a huge time-saver because I always have way too many notes and have to scroll through a bunch to find an old one I need.

Great Feature Phone
by LockJaws on July 8, 2012
Pros: The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a great addition for your texter in the family. Its surface does not scratch easily. A better aspect, in my opinion, is the USB charger cable included, making it posible for charging with a computer.
Cons: The touch screen is fairly resistive, and also attracts fingerprints easily. It has a very low-quality camera (Only 2 MP).
Summary: I would totally recommend this phone, as it does not need a data plan, which can be very costly. Also, if one chooses, you can access the internet though Verizon ...
Summary: I would totally recommend this phone, as it does not need a data plan, which can be very costly. Also, if one chooses, you can access the internet though Verizon Opera Mini, as well as social networking sites and Youtube. It is also capable of storing music, videos, etc., but only has a limited memory of about 50 MB. The battery is very good. You lose only about a quarter of the battery everyday with excessive use. If one wants to add music to their phone, I would suggest this SD- Micro SD converter from RadioShack:

This is, in my opinion, one of the best feature phones you can get from Verizon. -
Its a phone?
by rawr_ima_zombie on June 16, 2012
Pros: The touch screen? the price was why i bought it though.
Cons: The camera absolutely sucks its 2012 lets get some better resolution? and maybe be able to send them at a size that other people can actually see? That would probably be nice wouldn't it?

Summary: This is a very good phone. I got mine on November 13th and it still works good. I calibrate my touch screen everyday like recommended and it has never gave me problems. The keyboard once I got used to it was good but LG should have made it bigger. The Reception is impressive. I live in a dead zone and get 2 bars when other phones would have gave me barely a bar. The internet is amazing for a basic phone. I could do everything i could with my moms iPhone and better. I love the fact that it plays youtube, and handles speed very good. The phone's text message memory is great i can easily get 500 texts from it. The User Interface (or UI) Is amazing and i love the Trendy theme. The phone is very customize able. Now here comes the cons. The battery cover of mine comes of very easy and if dropped it will break off. The Hinge of the Keyboard is weak and i feel like if i open it too hard it will break. And the hinge is visible. The battery life isn't the best it barely lasts me half the day luckily I have a second battery from my LG vx5600 if i didn't i would charge it alot. The last gripe i have with this phone is the camera it is only a 2.0 mp and i wish it was higher. Overall its a good phone though

Summary: I would not recommend this phone to anyone, even my children. The reception is so bad that in many cases I'm missing phone calls and texts while trying to coordinate activities.
1) The reception is terrible as compared with the Voyager, it won't call or text in many locations that the Voyager did
2) The keyboard is too small, I am constantly hitting more than one key at a time.
3) It will not allow me to text while I'm talking on the phone unless a text comes in and I immediately reply.
4) The camera is very low quality and produces sorry pictures by today's standards.
5) Sending picture mail that is taken with the phone produces a tiny thumbnail picture that is totally useless when sent to email.
6) The touch screen only works some of the time, sometimes it pushes so easy when I don't want it to, while other times you can touch something 3 or 4 times before it works. -
Great basic phone for the price
by leftyguitarplr on May 11, 2012
Pros: The LG Extravert has a comfortable keyboard, even for my big fingers. It has Android-like customization options for the home screen, such as tip calculator, basic and graphing calculator, basic browser. Most important, call quality is excellent!
Cons: The LG Extravert has a very smooth back which makes it slippery. Camera is sub par (that's why I own a Nikon Camera).
Summary: I had no problems with the phone's touch screen, but I did calibrate it before use. I also did not have a problem with the Micro SD card, I ...
Summary: I had no problems with the phone's touch screen, but I did calibrate it before use. I also did not have a problem with the Micro SD card, I was able to connect to my computer and move my photos to the proper folder (you will want to get the proper drivers from LG). The backing is very smooth and slippery, so invest in a rubberized protector case. This is NOT an Android/Apple smart phone, so you'll benefit from owning a good quality phone while avoiding the $30 data fee from Verizon.
