LG CU720 Shine - red (AT&T)
price range: $359.99
Though we had a few quibbles with the phone's design, overall we were pleased with the LG Shine CU720's impressive style and feature set.
The good: The LG Shine CU720 is a very attractive slider handset with 3G support, a nice array of multimedia features, and good call quality.
The bad: The LG Shine CU720 has a tiny and very sensitive navigation joystick, plus a flat and crowded keypad.
The bottom line: Though we had a few quibbles with the phone's design, overall we were pleased with the LG Shine CU720's impressive style and feature set.

IMPOSSIBLE TO SYNC PHONE TO PC TO DOWNLOAD OUTLOOK CONTACTS
by cougzoo on May 29, 2008
Pros: LOOKS GREAT

Summary: I HAVE SPENT A MONTH TRYING TO GET SOFTWARE TO SYNC THE PHONE WITH MY PC TO DOWNLOAD CONTACTS FROM OUTLOOK. AFTER THIS PERIOD, I FINALLY WAS TOLD (OR E-MAILED) BY LG THAT THIS PHONE WILL NOT DO THAT. ALL NAMES, PHONE NUMBERS, ECT MUST BE ENTERED MANUALLY. THIS MIGHT BE FINE IF YOU HAVE 10 NAMES TO ENTER, BUT I HAVE OVER 300 CONTACTS TO ENTER. ALSO, THIS PHONE HAS THE WORST RECEPTION OF THE 4 PHONES THAT MY FAMILY USES. THE SONY ERICSSON W580i IS GREAT. MY WIFE AND SON LOVE IT, PLUS IT DOES MUCH MORE THAN THIS LG PHONE DOES. DO NOT LET THE PRETTY FACE FOOL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: The first thing I noted about the lg shine is how beautiful it is. The sleek and sexy design is an eye catcher and in some ways a reason to buy in the first place.
There is an impressive list of applications including a music player, email and IM, cellular video, and extended photo options.
The user interface is simple and attractive with a few options to change colors and view modes but I found that overall there were a few areas where the usual options Ive found useful on other phones are missing. For instance, the date, time and stupid at&t logo cannot be hidden or relocated. you have a few options to change their size or put a clock or calender on the home screen but I dont find that helpful when I would like to show my home screen wallpaper. As well, Ive found out that any music and photos that are transferred via your MicroSD card are automatically tunneled into the various applications that handle the media, however if you previously organized your media into folders youll be frustrated to find out that all your photos are jumbled into one main "pictures" folder. Ive struggled to find a way to reorganize my photos but Ive had no such luck. The music was jumbled as well but due to the music player's playlist option I was easily able to reorganize.
The keys are a bit small but if you use the tips of your fingers its easy to get used to. texting is slightly slower because of this, however their T9 option includes a phrase prediction that is VERY useful, in most cases it guesses what your about to type before you type it. the t9 option is a bit hidden at first but well worth the searching through the options for.
overall I love the phone but hope the manufacturers will make some upgrades for the next model.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Depends on what you're looking for...
by lurchbyrep on March 12, 2008
Pros: The camera is incredible! Screen is beautiful. Slider is spring-loaded. It has several cool features and looks pretty sweet as well.
Cons: The joystick is just a little touchy, but I don't mind it too much. Keys are cramped. Absence of profiles for various settings is quite irritating.
Summary: I just bought a Song Ericsson W580i, then took it back to try out the LG. I like the LG much more mainly because I wanted a better camera, which ...
Summary: I just bought a Song Ericsson W580i, then took it back to try out the LG. I like the LG much more mainly because I wanted a better camera, which it has in spades, plus a flash. The ringer volume could be a little louder, but it's not bad. Reception is not great, but that's because I'm used to the wonderful signal strength which Nokias get. More or less, like I say, it's all a matter of priorities. Camera quality was the main thing I was looking for, so the little quibbles can be put aside.
