LG Voyager - VX10000 (Verizon Wireless) price range: $64.99 - $74.99
- Reviewed on: 11/16/2007
The good: The LG Voyager VX10000 has a cutting-edge design with a brilliant touch screen and a spacious keyboard. It offers a generous features set that includes EV-DO support, V Cast Mobile TV Bluetooth, a top-notch Web browser, and an integrated GPS application. And if that's not enough, its call quality was excellent.
The bad: The LG Voyager VX10000's camera lacks such extra options as a flash and Wi-Fi. The touch screen can be clunky at times, and the streaming video quality and EV-DO connection speed were uneven.
The bottom line: Though we had some minor complaints here and there, the Voyager's sleek design, generous feature set and excellent performance make it the best LG messaging and multimedia phone by far.

Pales in comparison to iPhone

"you also can manipulate the Voyager by holding your finger to the screen and moving it around. Using this method, you can scroll through long menus and move around a Web page, but we had to practice a few times before we mastered either task. For example, when scrolling through the main menu pages, we had to be careful not to select one of the options accidentally, which we did a few times. We got the hang of it eventually, but even then it felt a tad awkward."0 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This truly is horrible. Everyone thats got such a stiff one for this phone, place it in front of you and take a good look at it. Here is a hint, its really not that great, it actually sucks. There is nothing easy about this phone. Having to flip it open for vcast, having to initiate a browser that takes ten seconds to even start up. Going one by one through a list of a thousand songs. Please, this phone is cool yes, but easy to use no. And by easy to use i mean sure anyone can place a call or unlock it, or surf the web, or anything else, but just the functionality of picking up the phone and just using it is a hastle. I hate to compare it to an iphone, but that phone is so much easier to use it isn't even close. The voyager is supposed to be a multimedia phone, so explain why the music player is so slow, or why you constantly have to reboot everything you do whenever you want to make a call. It is cool, maybe, but LG def. has to make some adjustments with the next one. Maybe one day this phone can be half as good as we could all hope it to be.

Pros: light, that's about it.

The QWERTY keypad doesn't light up like the "V", there isn't a flash on the camera, the touch screen is painfully difficult with out a stylus and I'm just rather surprised that LG and Verizon would even bother comparing this to an Iphone.
I'm returning it IMMEDIATELY and going back to my "v"0 out of 7 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: one by one they all try and copy the iphone and fall short cause Apple has patented the coolest touch screen on the planet, just blows away the competition. Nice try LG if I wanted a brick with poor battery life, poor browsing and no wifi Ill think about you. Nothing comes close to the Iphone, nothing. Just switch or get one unlocked.

Bottom of the ninth, near perfect game, Verizon gives up walk off

Summary: This phone makes no sense. Verizon needs to stop thinking their network is gonna keep people purchasing. We know they will allow WiFi on a phone (sch-i760) but for some reason their premier phone lacks that very important feature. I think tech-savy consumers have come to the point where if a phone doesn't have WiFi , there is no point in getting it.
I don't see any point in considering this phoen without it.0 out of 12 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I don't usually waste my time with these things but I am really sick of everyone (including Kent German whom I like) bashing the iPhone when it is really the better phone. Let's break this down a little. The iPhone has Wi-Fi..The LG does not. A real deal breaker for most. The LG has a crappy camera....The iPhone has a great camera but should have some more features like zoom and video. The LG has a tiny touch screen that is "clunky"....The iPhone has a large and smooth touch screen. The LG has streaming TV but the quality is crappy.....The iPhone has a very good quality You Tube on Wi-Fi. Also how many of you are going to pay an extra $15.00 a month for streaming TV? Many clips from news to finance are available on the iPhone for free and more video is coming all the time. The LG has a quicker connection speed but the connection is crappy....The iPhone has a stable EDGE which really isn't all that bad plus Wi-Fi. The LG has Multimedia Messaging......The iPhone does too but I guess you have to have some brains to use it. Admittedly no video sending on the iPhone but the video is crappy on the LG so who cares? The LG has stereo blue-tooth....The iPhone does not but who really uses stereo blue-tooth?? Blue-tooth headsets are out anyway and it has been tested by reputable surveys that people who see you with a blue-tooth headset think you are a pompous a**. The LG has a GPS application which if you ever used Verizon's GPS is in one word, junk which again costs more per month.....The iPhone has the very fine Google-Maps which are as good as GPS if you know how to push 'reset' on your odometer to track the very precise mileage. I have taken a trip and found the Google-maps and an odometer much more accurate than my Garmin. The LG is big and bulky.....The iPhone is sleek and sexy. The iPhone has multi-touch functionality......The LG does not. The LG has tactile feedback.....The iPhone does not but if you really can't function without tactile feedback then I feel bad for you. The menus and Internet are hard to scroll in the LG....The iPhone is smooth as silk. The LG display freezes....Never has my iPhone display froze. Call quality seem to be the same if not in my opinion a little better on the iPhone. The review says that some people thought the LG was tinny and there was some hissing which didn't seem to bother Cnet on the LG but lighter hissing bothered them on the iPhone. Personally in business or pleasure I have never had anyone know I was on a cellphone with the iPhone. The LG is $100.00 cheaper but after the more expensive contract and if you want to use the features of the LG.....The iPhone is much cheaper to use. Lastly but not leastly....Crappy MP3 player on the LG.....Top of the line Ipod on the iPhone!! Bottom line....Go out and get an iPhone and own the best while saving some money. Love Cnet....Hate their bias against the iPhone!! I admittedly do not own this phone (and do not want to) but I am still giving it 1 star not only because the stats come out that way but as a little token for all of you LG and Verizon people who do the same for the iPhone. Peace to all and remember....If you love it, it is good no matter what anyone says.
